We all have different budgets from country to country when it comes to the Emergency Services and we do manage to get by with what we got.. Sure it would nice to get a new pumper every now and then but again see which stations need what and what it can afford..
Wow, it 's a real shame all of the bad comments about each others equipment. I find fire trucks from other countries interesting, especially European Fire Appliances as they are called. I love the looks of the SCANIA trucks. I like to see the tools and pumps that are different than ours here in the USA. I agree with the guys who posted "We are all firefighters, we shouldn't fight with our brothers from other countries! I'd like to learn new things and ideas from our European brothers! Stay Safe
by the way ill think u will find these are all great brittish fire engines so all the comments about mainland europe ones im just gona ignore you FUCKHEADS!!!!
I would put any American built piece of Fire Apparatus aginst any of those vehicles. The only positive thing european built trucks have goin for them is better gas milage.
Yes, you're apparatus are probably better to something then ours and ours are probably better to something then yours! In stead of bragging about how great your appliances are, why can't we just learn from each other? We are all firefighters and we all have the same job to perform, saving lives! We have High Pressure hoses that you can have operating 10 sec. after arrival, which is impossible with normal hoses! We have built in foam systems on all engines etc.
its because UK brigades alot more equipment onboard the trucks, as the pumps also carry rescue quipment. US trucks carry only certain ie Engine trucks carry fire fighting quipment and nothing really else
@ukfireandrescue It depends on where you go, actually. I'm a volunteer firefighter for a rural township in Pennsylvania, and we have rescue equipment aboard the Engine for weekdays when most people are at work. We are shorthanded on those days, so we have our trucks running double duty sometimes.
@ukfireandrescue So even though the US ones are more shiny, it'd be best to bring a UK one to a 999/911 call do to the gear it can carry, am I correct?
Are you guys seriously battling it out on firetrucks!? man, I just love the new man and scania trucks we got operating these days!

I would put any 20 year old german, swedish or norwegian fire apparatus against the modern american ones

Why are the fire trucks so different in the UK vs the US?
It looks like the (UK) units are hiding things. Where in the US the trucks show alot more.
I don't know that's why I'm asking.

@ukfireandrescue
That is not true in the USA we have Engine/Rescues and Engine/Tanker/Rescues?
We carry as much equipment as our UK counterparts.
