  • I'm sorry, but if you can't adapt to changes in who plays the Doctor, you're not a Doctor Who fan. you're a David Tennant fan. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Tennant seasons, and he might even be my favorite Doctor, but change is part of the VERY NATURE of the show, and you just have to accept that.

  • DAVID IS MY DOCTOR TOOOO!!!!

  • my too..

  • what he wanted to say: Matt sucks, but he would never say that on tv

  • David. Enough said.

  • all 11 doctors are the best :D

  • The thing was, when I watched series 1, Chris started to grow on me...and then he left. But guys, give Chris some credit.

  • @BlackBeltTimeLord I felt the same way! By the end of season one I wish Chris had decided to stay another season!

    But David is obviously... David.

  • You never forget your first doctor.

  • <3

  • Nice guy. The Rory of his era!

  • @borgduck nope... Rory is the Mickey of his era :D XD

  • @Guywiththetypewriter Point taken.

  • @borgduck Rory is the Mickey of his era.

  • I hope they do another Doctors meet each other episode for the Anniversary in 2013. With Rose and David in the parallel world with a Tardis of their own (watch Journeys End deleted scenes) They could actually come back without destroying timelines.

Also a friend of mine came up with a brilliant theory. We have seen Matt Smith Die in the first episode of season 6. So how about he dies for real and the he is replaced by the Parallel world Doctor and Rose. Then we go into season 7. If only

  • @Ralmidazz

The only proublem there is that Parallel doctor can not regenerate, so when he's gone, he's gone and there won't be no more doctor who unless David Tennent never leaves, and it's unfair to expect David to play as the doctor for the rest of his career

  • @Ralmidazz

The only proublem there is that Parallel doctor can not regenerate, so when he's gone, he's gone and there won't be no more doctor who unless David Tennent never leaves, and it's unfair to expect David to play as the doctor for the rest of his career

  • I'm with Noel on that! DT, best Doctor ever!

  • MICKEY BOY!

  • true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "david is MY doctor!"

  • They should have cast Patterson Joseph as the doctor.

  • See people? Take it from Mickey! 11 is great! =] so is 10, but so is 11 ^_^

  • WHAT. Your comments are spoiling!! RIVER WILL KILL RORY??? WHAT THE HELL GTFO!

  • @trouts4 :D no she won't don't believe every single comment on youtube. the anticipation is killing everyone, so they're making stuff up :)

  • @dotchoo the anticipation is making me skittish, I believe anything and everything I hear and then I theorise it for days...

  • @trouts4 yeah well i read a comment yesterday that said rose and donna would make an appearence, how ridiculous is that. 6 more days!!

  • Christopher, you were MY first Doctor, and my favorite. So dont cry baby!

  • @dUm8dUm Awwww I loved him too. :) But David is my doctor. No question about it. :')

  • Well David Tennant is my hero, my white knight, my dark prince my everything -no im not a psycho im trying to make a point here- but I started watching Who, young girl not British, i didn't know anything and then that man came big ears bigger smile and David is awesome, he is brilliant and perhaps he was the best choice for me but.. even though say he is my doctor, Chris was the one who made me see the wonders of the universe so... he is really a one in a million.

  • David was my first Doctor and my favorite, but I have to say that I think Matt Smith is absolutely brilliant too!

  • My Doctor would be David Tennant but can I just say that I'm loving EVERY second of Matt Smith's tenure.

  • Christoper Eccleston was my doctor.

    1. he was northern ;D

and 2. the made dr who, dark, and tense, not a little kids programme like tennat, although i like matt, because he's a mix of tennant and eccleston

  • i just wana say one thing bowties are cool :]

  • @fishswishroxz No they aren't. lol

  • Matt is my Doctor. The way he is so eccentric and boyish and yet he can be emotional. And I know a lot of people say that he's not emotional enough or that he's not romantic enough, but think about it. The Doctor is 900 years old and counting, don't you think he'd like to forgive and forget? I feel like Matt Smith is not just the next Doctor, but he's a NEW doctor, a brand new one in fact that will bring so much more to the table.

  • he is not the new doctor who. He is the new doctor.

  • @mrwho995 It's perfectly valid to call him 'Doctor Who'. If you knew the series well, you'd know this.

  • @Mike40135

Just because a few times they've done the 'doctor who' joke after a new regeneration doesn't in any way mean that you should call him 'doctor who'. His name is 'The Doctor' in the show. That is what he is always referred to as in the show, and that is what he calls himself. The only other acceptable name to call him is whatever River whispered in his ear in Silence in the Library. His name is The Doctor. Sorry but there's no disputing that.

  • @mrwho995 How can you dispute that he was credited as 'Dr. Who' for the first eighteen-or-so years of the show? Or that he was even referred to as 'Doctor Who' by several characters?

  • @Mike40135

Because times have changed and in the past 20 years at least he has never been referred to by that name. In the movie (shudder) it was said that he was half human. That is ignored for being utter bullshit, as is him in the past being referred to as 'Doctor Who'. Stop living in the past. As of now, as of the new series, it is absolutely not acceptable to call him 'Doctor Who'.

Why do you have to make a pointless argument over such bullshit?

  • @mrwho995 You do realise that he was credited as 'Doctor Who' in Eccleston's series, don't you?

The new series is awful, anyway, so it matters not to me.

  • @Mike40135

Then why on earth are you even commenting? Christ that's pathetic. Anyway, you know his name is 'The Doctor' just as well as I do, so stop trolling.

  • @mrwho995 It's pathetic how riled you're getting about this, I'm just making a very valid point, and not trolling at all.

I see you've no answer to my point about the Eccleston series, either.

  • @Mike40135

LOL. Why are you even commenting about a show you don't like?

As I've said, it doesn't matter what it says in the credits. What matters is what he is constantly referred to in the show and what everyone who is involved in the show refers to him as. So, again, stop looking for arguments, like you clearly are, because that is simply trolling.

  • @mrwho995 But I love Doctor Who, just not the new series, and my comments have encompassed the show since its birth in 1963, I think you'll find.

A character can have several forms of address, you know - he simply prefers 'The Doctor'. He has been called 'Doctor Who' before.

  • @Mike40135

In real life, we both refer to people as they want to be referred. Obviously, his true name is neither, but if he 'wants' to be called the doctor in the show, then surely that is what it is referred to as. It is annoying, but I accept him being referred to as 'Doctor Who' in the media because that is more identifiable, but that is simply not his name.

Out of interest, and apologising for getting riled up because you do have a valid point, why don't you like the new series?

  • @mrwho995 That's perfectly okay as you thought I was merely taking the piss.

Well really it's the bad writing. I think that the characterisation of the Doctor is a bit off, and I dislike the constant, false dialogue like "He's like fire and ice and rage", it totally takes the realism out of it. Then there's the fact each episode is overloaded with comedy, and the awfully convoluted red button endings.

Classic was guilty of this, of course, but not as often.

  • @Mike40135

I basically agree with everything you've said, but somehow I still like the show. The whole 'fire and ice' rubbish I'll allow because I thought Human Nature/Family of Blood was a great episode. I think that the whole demigod persona he gets is nicely balanced by episodes like Midnight and The Waters of Mars. I haven't noticed it being overloaded with comedy, but I also hate the whole 'deus ex machina' rubbish.

  • @mrwho995 I did enjoy Human Nature/Family of Blood a lot, admittedly, I thought they were some of Tennant's best. I'm glad Davies didn't run away with the demigod thing and that he crushed it in The Waters of Mars - it wasn't right for the Doctor and I was scared he was having it as a development rather than a delusion.

  • @Mike40135

Yeah, the demigod persona didn't work for him at all. The whole angel ascension at the end of series 3 was absolutely cringeworthy. Apparently, Moffat wants to bring down the whole demigod thing (like in a good man goes to war with him completely failing to save the day).

  • @mrwho995 That's a very valid point, particularly about what Moffat's doing. Moffat's a bit too smug for my liking, though - he seems to think that if somebody complains about what he writes, they're just a lonely fanboy, when a lot of us offer genuine criticism. I'm sure he and Davies are perfectly nice fellows, though.

  • @Mike40135

Yes, Moffat is very smug. I think he confuses overcomplicated storlylines and nonsensical time travel concepts with genius but I still like him usually and I am really enjoying the current arc (even though River being Amy's daughter was obvious, and we all know River will kill Rory).

Out of interest, would you prefer to return to the old format of the longer stories?

  • @mrwho995 I would prefer that, yeah. Not seven parters, I know that wouldn't work so well, but four parters would.

I remember back when I was about eight, they showed the first half of Season 7, and Genesis, on BBC2 on Tuesday nights at 6 - Silurians is a seven parter, and I was HOOKED. Each week was full of suspense, I NEEDED to know what happened next. Who says kids don't have great attention spans nowadays! Granted I'm 19 now but still.

  • @Mike40135

Again, I apologise for getting so riled up. Have you seen Moffat's era? RTD was obsessed with the magic button saving everything and Moffat is obsessed with 'timey-wimey' rubbish saving the day. He makes good use of the ontological paradox, so in his era solutions can literally come from nowhere (the worst example of this is at the start of the big bang, cringeworthy stuff). But the rest of the show is still good enough for me to like it.

  • @mrwho995 Not a problem - you're being mature about it now, so no worries. It happens to all of us.

You've got it spot on there regarding both eras. I have seen Moffat's era, and while in terms of tone and characterisation it's closer to how I view Doctor Who, in some ways I find it even more annoying. Matt Smith verges on the very good, to being a complete parody of what the Doctor is. The Big Bang was awful.

There are aspects I still like, absolutely, and the show isn't dead to me yet.

  • @Mike40135

I loved the Pandorica Opens (minus the alliance) so the big bang was a big let down. I also don't buy for a second that the pandorica could restore the whole universe. I personally love Matt Smith. I can see how one could think of him as a parody, but I just think he is great. There are a few moments where he goes a little too far but usually I think he's great.

  • @mrwho995 The Pandorica Opens is alright - bit too much Moffat saying "look how epic I am" but it's enjoyable, as is Matt, for the most part.

  • @Mike40135

For me by far the worst Doctor Who episode was The End of Time. It basically put together everything I didn't like about Tennant's era and put it into one massive piece of rubbish. If I had seen that as my first episode of Doctor Who I would have laughed at how terrible it was and would never consider watching the show again. But I think when Doctor Who does it well, it does it really well. Midnight,Waters of Mars Dalek, The Empty Child, The Doctor's Wife and much more come to mind.

  • @mrwho995 Oh it was just awful, wasn't it? Master Ressurrection Potion, everybody becoming John Simm, overblown 'Time Lords returning' rubbish... it was just bad. Midnight is decent, but I find some of the characters annoying (I guess they're written this way though), Waters I loved, I'll admit that, same with Dalek and Empty Child. Doctor's wife... I was a little off with that one. I didn't like the idea behind it. It was well executed, though.

  • @Mike40135

I hated the end of time, especially considering the anticlimax after The Waters of Mars. I loved midnight because of its insights into humanity, its darkness and its originality. I hated the idea behind The Doctor's Wife. I have no idea how they managed to pull it off, but they did. Then again, anything would have been good after Curse of the Black Spot.

  • @mrwho995 That's true. Curse was truly the worst one Matt's ever done.

I really enjoyed Series 5 for the record. I thought it was the best, most consistent series since 1989.

  • @Mike40135

Other than black spot, what do you think of series 6 so far? I hope we don't get much more arcs, apparently next year will have less of them.

  • @mrwho995 The first ones were a little over-complex, Doctor's Wife, well executed but didn't hit the mark for me, the flesh two parter was pretty decent but the finale was convoluted and just ehh.

    I hope so!

  • @Mike40135

You caught me in a pretty shit mood, so I apologise for overreacting. It is valid to refer to him as 'Doctor Who', I just don't like it. The supercomputer in The War Games did.

Anyway, again out of interest, why no love for the new series? I'm guessing you've tried Moffat's stuff?

  • @mrwho995 Sorry, I didn't realise it was asking me for a captcha when I changed tab. Replied up there ^ !

  • * The War Machines, not war games

  • My doctors are Christopher and David, don´t cry Chris, I love you too :))

  • MS is my boy.

  • Well fuck you >.> Christopher ftw.

  • @Iamfuckinlazy

i love all three. I wish we'd had two more series of Chris though - I know it was his decision to leave but he was just great.

  • @mrwho995 Yeah I thought he was great too. I kinda hope he ends up doing a Tom Baker and realises what he missed out on so he'll come back to do audios at the very least

  • @mrwho995 i wish eccleston and tennant had a couple of more series'

  • @mrwho995 agreed

  • @mrwho995 I loved Chris, he was awesome.

  • Matt smith is my doctor (-:

  • "but at the same time David is my boy!" awww :)

  • David Tennant was the one the greatest Dr made it interesting convincing and heart felt dark and surprising powerful never loved Dr Who as a programme only liked it but Tennant and new story came into show -just loved it Come bk lol

  • David doctor ftw ! <3

  • Nah my personal favourite doctor was Christopher Eccleston, he may of only had one series as the doctor but he did it brilliantly and in my view he had a good series, yes no cybermen but he had daleks and those scary ass gas mask zombies. David and Matt are both great doctors, they keep me watching the show, but christopher will always be my favourite

  • @TheJeNgaMaN147 Was he your first? Because as they say, you never forget your first.

  • David WAS my doctor, I have since then replaced him with Matt Smith.

  • Matt rocks but David IS! the doctor :D

  • I love all of them, but i agree, David's mine

  • I prefer Matt. Never warmed to David, although the writing and general stories were A LOT BETTER for David. Matt just seems more... i don't know... xD

  • @Shaestel Funny, I considered Matt to have better stories than David. Well, that's because all the episodes with small funny aliens made the show too camp and overshadowed the rest in a giant bout of anger (THE END OF TIME DID THIS TOO D:<). But other than that, previous series had BRILLIANT character development at times - now I feel more detached from the companions.

  • In terms of episode quality, I think last nights episode could well be the best one so far.

  • @eateroftheflame agreed! love neil gaiman, you absolutely have to see neverwhere (or read the book, which is much better in my opinion...)

  • I really love how the Matt-Smith era brought back Doctor Who the sci-fi feel into the show. David's era was mostly a bunch of love stories with hes companions.

  • I feel sorry for Matt having to follow David, cos he was the best Doctor for sure

  • @bakar12345 I actually like Matt more

  • I loved Eccleston, he just needed more seasons to establish himself.

I saw Ten's series first, then went and bought nine's season on dvd with low expectations but I was surprised at how good he was. David is my docotr..Matt Smith is missing something that nine and ten had imo. They could be scary. You would think by the way Matt acts the Time War never happened and he's never lost someone.

  • Poor Chris Eccleston..no one loves him. :C Still, I have to agree that David is my Doctor. Thats what happens when you keep the Doctor in one form for three seasons. What did they expect to happen?

  • I'm sort of imagining Christopher watching this, a single tear rolling down his face.

  • @LupineVolt that comment was built of win

  • @LupineVolt I am laughing at the melodramaticness of this coment. HAHHAH adorable.

  • matts the best doctor hands down then david

  • david is everyones doctor lol

  • why does everyone forget christopher eccleston

  • DT, PE and MS (the new Whos!!) .Though Matt reminds me so much of my Classic Who (references aside) and I love him best of all the New Whos, he's in serious competition with the Fourth for me. I'm glad Eccelston kicked it off for us, he was brilliant and David!! Ohhh, he was AWESOME. but so far, Matt stole my heart all over again with his goofy dorky self (angst as a side package - ungh!)

But we all need to remember - they are all the same person - keep that in mind guys. DW FTW!

  • Matt and David Are Great But Paul Will Always Be My Doctor!

  • @GODCONVOYPRIME Oh yes!

Well actually Paul isn't my fav but he is certainly up there. Simply amazing, he deserves so much more credit than everyone gave him.

I think he should return in a episode or special sometime.

  • Matt Smith and David Tennant are just way too different to be comparable.

  • Only cause he acted along side David is he saying that lool. David was great....but Matt Smith ROCKS!!!!!!!!! :D xx

  • I guess it's just individual taste because personally I can't understand how people can say Matt is better than David. Matt's good, but David was brilliant just as Noel said. still, each to their own :D

  • Matt Smith is the best DR.

  • Tom baker is, was and always will be THE Doctor, followed by Matt Smith. DT Became boring after w while.

  • @Djinnmeister

I totally agree David did become boring after a while and don't know wether you think this too but towards the end Doctor Who became some show about an alien loving a human called Rose. I think when he left, yes it was a bit upsetting but it was time for a new man to come along and freshen things up. And Matt is doing one hell of a job and id by far MY DOCTOR!!! lool. xx

  • Lol Bromance

  • Matt Smith is at least 10 times the doctor DT was. The best one since 1989.

  • I could not agree with Noel more! Matt's a decent Doctor, and of course each Doctor is a different man internally, so differences can be understood. But David will always be my Doctor, my first and my best. (And yes, Peter Davison's up there--of course!)

  • Tennant started off well but he soon became charicature of himself. More precisely he was not served well by RTD's scripts and RTD's overall input into the show.

Smith's interpretation of the role (and Moffat's writing) is more subtle and understated. Occasionally there are echoes of RTD in the background but hopefully they will diminish over time.

As for Clarke: He started well as an assstant but the decision to turn him into an all action hero was wrong.

  • @gamerAZAR hate is a bit strong!

  • @gamerAZAR

I will be surprised if anyone thumbs up this, it's not nice and Matt smith is the best and there is nothing wrong with him. I'm sorry but if you havnt got anything nice to say you shouldn't say anything at all cause all you Matt Smith hatters obviously don't like Doctor Who as much as they say they do. I know this because Matt isn't the one writing the scripts, is he? He just reads and acts out what's written on the paper. Its S.M you really hate, and yet he's great too. Best writer

  • @kerrierose1 For what it's worth, I just gave you a thumbs up and I agree with you. I think I'm just now feeling comfortable with saying that Matt is my favourite Doctor, mostly beacause I'm scared of DT fans. They don't seem to realize that just because some people prefer Matt Smith that doesn't belittle David's performance, which was amazing. And as for Steven Moffat, while I have to thank RTD for bringing DW back Moffat has been the best thing to happen to the show. I can't wait for series 6!

  • @citygirl2192

Thank you citygirl2192 and I know what you mean, nothing can change how good Davids performance was but some people do need to get over the fact that David is gone now and there's nothing you can do to change that. My advice to people who keep complaining is enjoy the show while it lasts, and if you can't do that...then don't sit in front of your TV screens watching it. And series 6 looks completely amazing and I just can't wait either...thankfully we only got 6 more days left xx

  • Kinda mad that he didn't even mention Chris. I mean you worked with the guy!

  • @Ashleystalworth Did more with DT though. Also, Chris only played as The Doctor for the money.

  • i never liked this guy.....

  • David Tennant is THE Doctor. No doubt bout it in my mind :^ I've come round to liking Matt just fine, but, cmon, it's *David* frikin *Tennant* !! :D So great you feel compelled to say his last name, just to EMPHASIZE his full awesome-itude . He;s just....the best. Something bout him, so endearing, and he just seems to... capture an audience's heart like no one else could.

  • I love that he was a Peter Davison boy like me when he was younger. And when you work with a certain actor they are your Doctor. Interesting that he worked with Eccleston but prefers David's take on the role.

  • @cylon6 he did work with him longer

  • Just 2 words William Hartnell

  • My fave doctor is PD PETER DAVISON

  • @Doctortrek1 Same here :D

  • It's amazing how I can't decide between the three Doctors of the revived series. Each of them brought something unique and indeniably talented to the series, so I really couldn't say if I prefer Eccleston, Tennant or Smith (sorry DT fans). The three of them are just excellent.

  • I love both doctors I can't hate both I love Matt & David!

  • I don't mind who plays the doctor, David or Matt they're both fantastic but I would like to see some of the old compaions back, especially Mickey and Captain Jack. Amy's funny but I'm not the biggest fan of Rory.

  • Noel Clarke is THE man.

  • David is my doctor!

  • You never forget your first Doctor.. Actually... Matt WAS my first.. I live in Holland, and I was zapping by BBC1, which was broadcasting The Lodger at that moment. Fell in leve immediately. So.. DT was great, Matt is greater. Absolutely love them both, but DT was Hot, Matt Smith is cool. xD

  • he sounds so different when hes working on the london urban films..

  • I Iike them BOTH. Oooh, burnnnnnnnnn.

  • I want Jack, Mickey, Rose, Martha and David Tennant's Doctor to come back next year, for one bigass special.

  • @halfbreed1426 i THINK theyre planning on something like that for the 50th anniversary xD

  • i want mickey back to i miss him and martha

  • i really like matt now but he's not taking over my verdict david is still the best doctor ever

  • ahh hes gonna kill the docter wiv a baseball bat

(if u dnt get it watch kidulthood)

  • I agree with you guys. David will always be MY Doctor but Matt is brilliant. I love Matt and hope he stays for a very long time.

  • @GreedLin same

  • @GreedLin same for me...

I really like Matt's stories, but the sadness and depth David brought to the Doctor were... well, you know...

    :')

  • I thank my lucky stars that I walked in on Doctor Who smack dab in between David Tennant AND Matt Smith. While I watched DVDs of Tennant's performances as the Doctor for a bit more background info, I was watching the unfolding brilliance of Matt Smith on BBC. The two of them combined in my head, in perfect sync, and I got this wonderful, beautiful sense of just... the Doctor. "My Doctor"? Both of them. It's HIM. The Doctor. I love the show so fiercely I get a bit savage when it is interrupted.

  • that was cute.

  • He would say he loves Matt Smith. He wouldn't say he is gonna be crap. So what he just said is possible incorrect

  • Smith is so overrated.

  • @Superbruv07 No , i think you'll find if anyone was overrated in Doctor Who , it was Tennant

  • @Conorp77 I just saw the Xmas eppy and I must say Smith has really impressed me. It took 14 episodes but he's got there, what a great Doctor and the best episode of his tenure so far.

Tennant was awesome tohugh. Clarke summed up everything I felt - Smith is great - tennant was better.

  • I love how everyone's saying shit about MS on this vid, and now, lke a year later, everyone LOVES him.

  • David is my Doctor too, Noel. =P

Good statement though - well said.

  • lol micky the idiot

  • invaders must die??

  • David is GOOD, but he is defiantly not the best. Matt brings something to the role, something that David didn't have. Matt is great, but he is is my second best doctor. NO ONE can replace Tom Baker, defiantly not David Tennant.

  • I hate how so many people are replacing David with Smith. David will always be the BEST DOCTOR EVER!!!!! WOOOOO!

  • @lanagon3932 Nah, that would be the Fourth. Or the Seventh, depending.

  • I agree with noel, David will always be the greatest doctor ever

  • No, no NO! David may have been good, but Matt is THE BEST!

  • I agree, that was a bit of a snub to Christopher Eccleston, after all, Mickey was Nine's companion first! That said, I'm not really that much of a Nine fan, and Tennant was bloody brilliant.

But I don't know if I could pick between Ten and Eleven anymore... Ten is my first Doctor, and you never forget your first Doctor, but Eleven just totally embodies everything that I love about Doctor Who.

  • @PrincessButtercup128 my first doctor was nine, but i definately love david better. i mean, at first i absolutely hated DT for kicking my first doctor out, but then I realised how awesome he is! now i hate matt cuz he kicked DT out, but as soon as i watch more of matt's episodes i'll love him. especially with moffat as the main writer, cuz i love moffat.

    (BTW, great username XD)

  • @Milkpaw well said

  • Tennant is sorely missed in the role.

  • I'm glad we got what Mickey finks.

  • Choistopher Eccleston was ok, but he only stayed for one season, which fails. David Tennant was more funny, Matt Smith is awesome too, but something just isn't right about him. I think it's because he doesn't put serious act on his face. I don't know...

  • welll my doctors ( yes i hav
