I think that's *excellent* that Slovakia requires drivers to pass a first aid test ... and that first aid is also part of school curriculum!! Certainly would be of equally great value here in Canada and the U.S. in so many situations and especially car accidents. EMTs do their best, but rush hour on a highway doesn't allow for very fast response!
Thank you for this video ... it's the kit I've been seriously considering but hadn't quite made up my mind to purchase. I will now ;-).
@kambelzful yeah. thats why i went with the first aid kit theme for the contest. not many ppl talked about it in the community so i figure its good to bring it up a bit. its important. thansk for watching
@kambelzful yeah it was that spray bandaid. i think its a waste if you have full on first aid kit with almost everything. it just seems like its for kids. i dont really know, i've never used it. any experience with it?
@gavkoo Not really with the spray kind. I have used New Skin which is liquid bandage, but it's more like nail polish. It isn't really that good, and I think just regular band-aids are better.
I wish my college had first aid classes. I think they should be offered in all schools from junior high up to university level. Nice pack, man. I shall make a video for your giveaway soon.
@ATF6281914 im happy that we had it in slovakia over and over from young age to driver license. its a great knowledge to have at least that basic stuff... its actually against law not to give first aid to someone in need unless your life or well being would be endangered... hope to see your VR soon brother and thanks for the support
@hinckleypoland it only started last week and will run for a month. i think i said may 14th if i remember right. but hurry up, dont be lazy :) the whole point was to see what ppl have atm not after they get ready for a video :) will love to have you in there brother
Super glue is a good thing to keep in a first aid kit , I cut myself really bad so I cleaned it up and super glued the cut shut and it healed in about a week
@williammeridith i actually didnt have superglue until now in my fak and never even used it for such a thing but will give it a try next time. never really needed it in last many years since my last "bigger" accident so didnt really have much use of my fak in years. cant really complain i gotta say lol.
@TheValineurheilija yeah man over here the good packs are also pretty damn expensive but at least sometimes you can get some good sales. not often but once in a while there are. i know europe is pretty damn expensive compare to US. i know im from europe/slovakia originally lol.
@TheValineurheilija hmm. still kind of pricey. i paid 50 bucks on sale for mine :) and its actually great brand. not famous too much but great stuff in their inventory
@TheValineurheilija yeah for my urban location it works fine and dont scream "hey i have bunch of knives on me" lol your haglofs actually reminds me my mountain hardware. except the side water holders. but wow its expensive :(
European kits are different mainly because of the medications and uses of some stuff inside them. I like to merge both eu and us kits together to create the ultimates.
That seems to be a good kit and you are right that everyone should check the content and see what they are used for.BTW what kind of backpack are you using i have the Haglöfs tight evo L :)
dang that is one nice kit dude, fully stocked, a first aid kit with its own first aid kit, so cool, i would love that kit, my big kit just has mostly basics, with some extra stuff
@thomassmyth65 thanks tom. i decided to invest into one good fully loaded kit after my latest accident and especially now when im planning to get out to the wild more often and "deeper" lol so instead of a new knife i reached for this. im very happy with it.
@DynamoDylan i actually did mine couple years back in Croatia through one polish scuba diving school called Nautica. maybe europian scuba schools are different or maybe that even varies from school to school? no idea brother. but a first aid class/training is never a bad thing :)
@thelockkk i heard from couple emt that they are overrated. this kit actually has a lot of trauma pads that should easily stop any heavier bleeding...
@thelockkk thats true. they are kind of expensive thou. like i said, its never too much of anything if talking about first aid kit... and couldnt agree more... wish we would never need any of this for anything major...
Looks like a great kit Gav! I agree on adding crazy glue. That is probably my favorite way to close wounds. Suggestions: add some tinactin(I know its meant for athletes foot) in my experience its the best relief for insect bites , busted knuckles, and minor burns and its cheap! Also its not a bad idea to carry some tobacco(yes tobacco), tobacco mixed with water(or spit) makes the absolute best medicine for hornet and wasp stings. A snake bite kit is also not a bad idea....I've been bit 4 times.
@LedZeppelin13k7 omg i love snakes. never been bitten by one btu also we dont have many poisonous snakes in slovakia and neither here in NY. there are couple pouches of that after bite thing so should be covered from that end also. there is lot of stuff i didnt even talked about in the video because it would take an hour to mention everything lol
@RockyRoady999 in short knife kind of fell while being stuck in the wood for battoning as i was reaching for the handle and i didnt move my hand fast enough adn the edge cought the very end of my finger tips
Glad you picked one out! Just remember a first aid kit is not a survival kit. Keep it to medical supplies, and be sure to keep a flashlight of some kind in there. Later Bro!
@gavkoo Maybe a whistle to call for help and a regular Bic lighter would be about as much as I would add for "survival" items. Otherwise I would keep the items to a primary medical function. Your first aid kit is part of your "survival" kit, not the other way around. Stuff that bag with as much first aid supplies as you can. There are few good vids out there to give you a good idea on what is important to carry and what is not. Of course any items that have more than one use are the best...
@knightrebel556 lighter and whistle are in and on the backpack. i talked to themediocrapirate who is also emt and he said it was very decent FAK. he told me that i should get different tourniquet thou. you'll look at it once i'll visit again brother. i already added bunch of stuff but im no professional emt. but i guess i should be fine with this kit for even really gnarly stuff... but i think you're right. i really shouldnt keep firemaking and emergency stove supplies in FAK
Realy nice kit my friend! One thing I would add and that I don´t see very often is collyrium or eyedrops. Many times I wished I had some and I did'nt. Don't know how usefull that will be to your kit but I think is nice!
@2dividedby3equals666 good idea. i actually dont ever use eyedrops but my fiancee does so i definitely will be adding that. thanks a lot mate! and thanks for watching
I saw that today at bass pro shop. thought about getting it, but I went with the bass pro one b/c it was a little cheaper for basically the same kit minus a couple of things. still a great kit
Great review! you should.consider adding some quickclot
