  • This thing goes well !

  • Why didn't you just put in a 351W instead of a 351C?

  • Because a 351W is more appropriate to a 3/4 ton pickup hauling loads? Because Windsors are the only engine almost as common in swaps as SBCs? No, I just like the Cleveland heads better. No stock small block ever had heads that ran like Clevelands, although I admit the "LS" engines have outstanding heads. Seriously, though, next engine for the truck will be a Windsor block with Cleveland heads, Lord willing, to get the best of both worlds in small Fords.

  • @Zekais Agree'd.

I've just had better luck with 351W's. The more power, The better, Even if it sucks a tank of gas a mile. :D

  • @Zekais that would be a sick motor when its done i think its called a "clevor" i have a windsor block and am thinking of building one of those

  • @6422m why??Just to say you have one of the few? please tell me that's the reason.

  • @hpaddyh to get the best of both motors and like you said just to have a unique motor.

  • @gibsonlespaul2

    That's a joke, right?

The only benefit of a W over a C is they have better oiling. Do a search online for the actual size of C heads. They flow better than most aftermarket W heads that have been ported.

  • the 351 is no joke. we got it in our 92 ford flareside and FUCK it just burns the tires.

  • I kind of just giggled through the whole video lol

  • 351 "C" 4V

    1970-1973 ?

  • @giantguy666

1970. Originally 2V, but now has aluminum heads on it more like 4V.

  • i have an 83 ranger with 300 hp at the motor and next summer i'm gonna build it to 450 hp at the wheels can't wait

  • how much hp

  • Very mild engine, so probably just around 380-400hp.

  • Is the standard tranny or the auto cheaper to put in these trucks? Whats easier?

  • Sick man. Does she have cams or anything in it

  • Just a smallish hydraulic flat tappet cam.

  • Lol you passed my car at 0:39.

  • (Waving) Howdy, neighbor! :)

  • Ever find out what it does on the quarter mile?

  • I made some changes and got a few more to do, for traction issues, and then I hope to find out.

  • wow hooked up pretty well

  • or will a 289

  • Yeah, either small Ford will fit fairly easy. I had a 302 in mine before swapping the Cleveland in.

  • nice video man, ive got a 1988 ford ranger with a 4 cylinder in it will a 302 V8 fit just wondering?

  • yea it will fit with some minor mechanical modifications, even for someone withsmall mechanical ability its fairly easy. There are tons of stuff on the internet about doing a v8 swap.

  • the camera describes the torque like no other

  • imagine the guy pressed into the seat, he couldnt be able to grab the wheel

  • In my neck of the woods if you modify something, like this Ranger w/ the Cleveland. They go by the year of the motor. If the motors more than 25 years old there is no emission test, but if not you must pass emissions for the year of the motor. 9 times out of 10 all they do is check for catalytic converters.

  • 351C ~~~~~ that's FORD POWER!!!

  • that made the camera mess up damn that thing must be powerful

  • Damn that sounds so good!

  • how much wud a conversion kit for a 351 cost?im thinkin about puttin one in my 92

  • I don't know of any kits for 351 into a Ranger, but everything for a 302 swap would work except the headers and oil pan. L & L, James Duff and probably some other outfits sell swap parts. I didn't use any swap kit, so I don't know about prices.

  • No doubt it could be done, but you'd better be rich.

The last C's rolled out in 74. There's been little new technology in the past 20 years, so the Windsor is now preferable.

But considering the light weight of the vehicle, and the versatility of the 5.0 V8, you 'd probably be best off going that route.

Clevelands are dinosaurs. It was once Ford's hot engine, but its been abandoned.

Good luck passing an emissions test with that heavy breathing/carbureted Cleveland.

    It aint likely

  • damn i got a 2005 ranger edge reg cab 4sp with overdrive is there anyway i can do this? what would i need to do to the drive train and tranny etc. and how much would it cost?

  • damn i gotta 96 red ranger stepside 4spd with overdrive

    can i do this?

    and will it pass emissions,etc..

i dont know much about rangers

as it is my work truck/hunt truck

my ride is a volvo s80t6

  • I'm sure you can do it, but as far as passing emissions...very doubtful without a lot of extra work. I guess that depends on your state laws.

  • depends.. most places have a hotrod clause in the emissions laws saying swapped engines as long as they were not offered on the vehicle are exempt from emissions. I have a 97 Ranger ext cab with side step and am in the market for a 351 so i can use my ranger as a tow rig.

  • u think the swap would be the same with a 98 ranger. im wanting to do it with mine not sure if id be better off with a 302 or 351

  • '98 is quite a bit different according to the more expert guys on rangerpowersports web site. I have only messed with the older ones like this one. 302 is a good bit easier, or was for me, and a 347 stroker 302 would do 'bout as well as a 351 probably. I have even been thinking 'bout going to a Boss 302 type mill in mine. Must have too much time to think on my hands, eh?

  • na, if you got the tools and the know how to do it think as much as you want on it. as long as u keep putting videos like this on.

  • im thinking about doing a 5.0 swap on a 91 ranger do i have to change out the motor mounts how hard is it?

  • Yes, mounts need to be changed. Some companies make swap kits, and lots of people just use mounts for '85 and up Mustang convertibles. Good luck and have fun with it.

  • why convertables?

  • The mounts for convertibles are a little different, and are supposed to work better for this swap. I made my own, so just passing on what a lot of people who have done the swap say.

  • Longer in secoonnd

  • Great truck, props on all your work

  • Thanks a lot. A lot of bang for the buck.

  • I agree, the truck looks sick sounds sick and goes like hell. I can tell some one put some time in it and it really looks like it paid off. btw I like your other videos too

  • i just need to know how fast ya was goin when ya let off the gas lol :P...i have a 73 mach 1 with a 351CJ and my dads cougar with a 347 stroker turnin over 500 hp. i love fords man and thats the favorite vid of a ranger yet.

  • I am guessing about 95 or so, since the speedo only goes to 85, and it runs out of speedo in 3rd. Gonna have to try and find your cars on here, now. :) And thanks for the kind comments.

  • omfg...that is sick dude!

  • Nice, whats the specs of the engine?

  • Very mild '70 351C: 9.8cr, CHI single plane intake, 750 Holley, Crower hydro cam, Unilite distributor, home cobbled headers. Thanks.

  • i got the chills so bad i feel like a dam porcupine!! that... truck... is.... freakin... sweeeeeeet!!!!

  • I'll take two.

    =D

  • The camera wheelies! COOL :)

  • Yeah, gotta either remove the ladder bar suspension from the camera mount or install wheelie bar camera mount. ;)

  • hahahaha

  • **drools uncontrollably**

    :P
