Ive seen Squeeze dozens of times and there are always top notch, if you get to see Glenn's solo act do not miss it......... a genuine English talent of the highest order!!
i saw glenn in lochranza on the isle of arran and he left the venue and we all followed him to the castle- still singing and he ended up hanging out a window of castle in the pitch black and we were lighting him up with torches, mobile phones etc one of the best nights ever- and a bit surreal- the guy is awesome
Another great song from Glenn, great melody and lyrics. I've seen Squeeze and Glenn Tilbrook so many times now and I'm singing louder and louder in the audience its becoming embarrassing.. I'm sure the last time I saw Glenn he gave me a bit of a stare as if to say "I'm ****** singin". I'm still hoping for an invite on stage.. actually did that once back in the 90's at Manchester Apollo :-)

Stephen Large is a truly cool & very talented pianist! He compliments Glenn's top-drawer guitar skills & great singing voice, particularly in this lovely song.
Yes he's doing really well on his own - although that doesn't give credit o Steven Large's excellent piano playing and the un-named percussionist (Gilson Lavis?)
Tilbrook is an absolute genius guitarist, singer and songwriter...I sort of lost touch with Squeeze some years ago but this song is absolutely wonderfull
Just want to say steveguion is BANG ON with his comments.Sadly in this life its often the crap and not the cream that rises to the surface! As a nation we are being dumbed down, but alot of people dont know their arse from their elbow, musically speaking, hence the success of the so called talent shows and countless mediocre bands that the media pushes on to the mainstream,oh dont get me started!
I've seen Glenn about 10 maybe 15 times, alone with the fluffers and of course Squeeze. To me theres no squeeze without him but theres always a Glenn with or without. My most favorite performer ever.
First time I ever saw Glenn Tillbrook was in 1978 when he was with Squeeze on a local NJ show called Uncle Floydd. From that point on I have loved the band and think he is the most unrated singer ever!
If by comfortable you mean financially well off then, alas, I don't think he is. Last I heard he was touring on a broken down bus and playing will all of the passion and humour that made us love him. A true genius - no question about it.
There is a good DVD of that tour. Called "One for the Road". Well worth getting. Shows also what a great guy Glenn is as well as great musician and singer.
How well this guy sings live just amazes me every time I see him live. I'm certain both he and Chris Difford live the comfortable lives they deserve given their genius as artists. However, the fact that worthless artists like Michael Bolton can make millions while guys like Difford & Tilbrook remain at a "cult" status their entire careers is evidence that most people in this world have no idea what is great art versus shit.
Who is Michael Bolt On anyway? A pretty boy with ringlets and a bad mullet who made plangent appeals to the knicker brigade before shuffling off out of the MOR limelight when his hairline receded . Meanwhile, there's a bunch of these guys around; Difford, Tillbrook, Costello, Lowe, Wyatt, Edmonds and a bunch more too. Trends come & go, but quality will always out, especially when it comes to standing on a stage and performing an original song with minimal accompaniment. Onya Glenn! And Jools.
Steve, you're SO RIGHT regarding the tail-end of your post
("..remain at cult status..").

I guess it just shows that most morons on the planet can't deal intellectually with GOOD, DECENT WELL CRAFTED SONGS WITH UNUSUAL CHORD-CHANGES (structures), but I can name a whole sight worse than Micheal Bolton
what a bunch of whining-ninnies all you posters are spouting nothing but cynical and sarcastic-bile, try saying something halfway nice about something or somebody, youll feel better for it!
Saw Glenn's solo gig at the Spirit Store, Dundalk (Ireland) on Saturday 8th Nov, another great performance from a truly outstanding singer/songwriter ... still humming the songs today !!
I was passing thru Grand Central right after 9/11 on my way home from work and heard what sounded like a Squeeze song being played in the lower level. Then, I thought, the singer sounded a lot like Glenn Tilbrook. Then, it turned out it was Glenn, playing for free, passing the hat for donations for the victims' families. He earned honorary New York citizenship then and there. But he has always been one of my favorites. That's what Trans-Atlantic Ping Pong means to me. Cheers then, Glenn!
Probalby green with envy. Jools cannot hold a candle to Steven. Have seen Glenn solo acoustic twice and with the Fluffers twice-awesome..and Squeeze is coming here in two weeks!! I can hardly contain myself
Just a poor Colonials opinion, mate. Although strongly a held one! Just have seen Steven do some amazing things..This is not his best performance by far.
you must be overrated [as you put it] too mate because i think this player accomponying tilbrook is pretty ham-fisted whereas jools most certainly aint!
Do love this! First saw Glenn perform this in Liverpool. He did a completely acoustic set, supporting Bonnie Raitt - turning point for me. Love his Fluffers too! Catch him live if you can. Must say Jools was very gracious!
