Mustaine's guitar leads, rhythm, sound and song writing ability made Metallica in the beginning. They are both great bands but Megadeth has been kicking their ass musically since " Rust in Peace ".

these are all personal preferences.... i listened to metallica first (garage days), and subsequently trying some other bands in the genre. but i end up listening to megadeth more. i think metallica has more coverage than megadeth those days.

Mustaine wrote in full The Mechanix (Metallica changed tempo, added better lyrics, and bridge section,) and Jump In The Fire. He then HELPED write Phantom Lord, Metal Militia, Ride The Lightning (song,) and The Call Of Ktulu (Cthulhu.) Mustaine wasn't that big of a contribution. Any other fast playing guitarist would have made Metallica fast. And Overkill came out a year before Metallica, so Mustaine is NOT the founder of Thrash either. And Tom Araya credited Anvil.

But again, Overkill formed a year before Metallica. They may not have had an album out until '85, but I'm sure they were playing live gigs before Metallica's first song came up.

NWOBHM includes bands like Saxon, Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Motorhead, Tygers Of Pantang, Leatherwolf, and etc. Mix that genre with Punk and original Hardcore, and you get Thrash.

That video is mostly opinionated. Famous people talking or not. Again, there were Thrash bands before Metallica, and if Mustaine wasn't around, other fast guitar players would come in and do the same thing. With no Metallica means no Megadeth too, I can play this game too.

all Mustaine can do is hire professional musicians, make an album, fire them, then hire some new ones. Megadeth is Mustaine and his Bass buddy's stage name. It's a line up that revolves around Cuntstaine, really it's a Dave Mustaine project if you will. With their poor production quality, shitty lyrics and vox, you really can't compare these two bands. Metallica is on top of the Sears tower pointing to the sky, and Megadeath is in the sewers beneath the building, the album sales prove it.

Lou Reed contacted Metallica and wanted to do it. If Metallica did that for the money they would have worked longer than 3 weeks on that album and have come out with something a little more though of. But that's not what they did. They simply made an album with Lou Reed because they wanted to do something FOR THEM. I don't like Lulu, but I respect that album as they enjoy performing it. Unlike Megadeth who sell out to the fans and are crowd pleasing hacks.
I agree with him, I do prefer Megadeth, but god of metal? Not so sure, it's a title much more fitting for Tony Iommi or Ian Gillan, or hell even Dio, but Halford? Halford is a pioneer and a great musician, but not a "God of metal"
M'eh, just like with Metallica, Megadeath slowed their sound down after their 4th album. Writing complex music isn't everything. If it were, then Death Metal would be the best Metal genre in the world. Metallica is a heavier band with better production quality, Megadeath is faster band with poor production quality on their albums. Lyrically speaking Hetfield has it all over Dave. Plus Megadeath isn't really a band, it's Dave Mustaine with some professional musicians he's hired.
@Mechaghostman3 death metal as a whole isn't really "complex" there is variety in every genre. Death metal can have a lot of "chord chugging" and playing open chords with pauses, it's not complex as a subgenre as a whole, but there are certain bands that are complex. And just as complex writing isn't everything, neither is writing uncomplicated music. Music is an art, not everyone likes the same art, some people like technical drawings and schematics, some like paintings, ect.
Death Metal is chugging and open chords? You're mistaking that with Deathcore and Metalcore. Death Metal has bands like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Obituary, and etc. Deathcore has bands like Suicide Silence, Carnifel, I wrestled A Bear Once, and etc. {:-p

In my personal opinion, out of the two debut records, KIMB and Kill 'Em All, I do prefer Killing' over Kill 'Em. I do love Metallica's 80s and early 90s music, but out of the two I prefer Megadeth all the way.
Metallica have written songs like Master of Puppets, One, Fade to Black, Creeping Death, Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, Battery, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Sad But True... the list goes on.
Give me songs from Megadeth, Slayer, or Anthrax that are better than those songs. Look at the band's music people - Metallica have written pieces of timeless music, and that's why they are the best rock/metal band in the world.
@fefaaa21 Holy wars blows them all out of the Water. Its more technically proficient then any of those songs. The entire Rust in Peace album does. I do have to commend you on two things though 1. Fade to Black is the greatest power ballad ever written and 2.Creeping Death is the best opening tune ever written

Mustaine wrote in full The Mechanix (Metallica changed tempo, added better lyrics, and bridge section,) and Jump In The Fire. He then HELPED write Phantom Lord, Metal Militia, Ride The Lightning (song,) and The Call Of Ktulu (Cthulhu.) Mustaine wasn't that big of a contribution. Any other fast playing guitarist would have made Metallica fast. And Overkill came out a year before Metallica, so Mustaine is NOT the founder of Thrash either. And Tom Araya credited Anvil.

NWOBHM includes bands like Saxon, Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Motorhead, Tygers Of Pantang, Leatherwolf, and etc. Mix that genre with Punk and original Hardcore, and you get Thrash.

In part we agree about Motorhead. The genre that they are classified in according to that chart is 1/3 responsible for Thrash Metal.
But Black Sabbath came out with a Thrash song in 1975 called Symptom Of The Universe. And Queen had one in 1974 called Stone Cold Crazy.

all Mustaine can do is hire professional musicians, make an album, fire them, then hire some new ones. Megadeth is Mustaine and his Bass buddy's stage name. It's a line up that revolves around Cuntstaine, really it's a Dave Mustaine project if you will. With their poor production quality, shitty lyrics and vox, you really can't compare these two bands. Metallica is on top of the Sears tower pointing to the sky, and Megadeath is in the sewers beneath the building, the album sales prove it.

Lou Reed contacted Metallica and wanted to do it. If Metallica did that for the money they would have worked longer than 3 weeks on that album and have come out with something a little more though of. But that's not what they did. If it were, then Death Metal would be the best Metal genre in the world. Metallica is a heavier band with better production quality, Megadeath is faster band with poor production quality on their albums. Lyrically speaking Hetfield has it all over Dave. Death metal can have a lot of "chord chugging" and playing open chords with pauses, it's not complex as a subgenre as a whole, but there are certain bands that are complex. And just as complex writing isn't everything, neither is writing uncomplicated music. Music is an art, not everyone likes the same art, some people like technical drawings and schematics, some like paintings, ect.
