  • Hey if you have any type of blood contagion they might get you for reckless endangerment of arachnid

  • That's one fine video montage of the spitter at work. How large do they grow? Seems to me that they might have an advantage on similar-sized predatory wasps, spraying them out of stinger range.

  • I hate mosquitoes! Any thing that loves eating those blood-sucking SOBs are my best friends for life!

  • Hey, this is very interesting. Where do you live?

Can you sent me some pictures of the spiders?

    All the best.

    Steve

  • There are 2 of these spiders living in my room. I don't kill them cause they kill the bad spiders like black widows. They're always in the same spot and move very slowly :)

  • here in the philippines, there are two variety of these spiders; one has a reddish color but smaller compare to the the one which is long- legged and brownish or greyish body.

  • @mogenesoct8

hello, this is very interesting. Do you think, you can sent me a picture of those species via email?

Just sent me a message - if it could be possible.

  • interesting!

thx 4 posting a vid response.

it would be great if u can film the spitting moment in a super-high-speed vid camera.

  • I have found a few of them in my home (Boise, Idaho, USA). I wondered for years what they were and am so happy to finally ID them! I usually remove spiders from indoors, but I found them so beautiful and seemingly harmless that I have left them alone. They really like the shower in my basement.

Thank you for your wonderful video! It is tricky to find much info on these guys.

  • Thank you - for you nice comment.

Not a lot of people do look so close to spiders and even fewer do find - at least some of them . "beautiful".

But - in my opinion - you are right!

Could you do me a favor and try to make a photo of the spitting spider in idaho.

If you have a small digital camera it might be possible. I am interested, how similar or different this spiders to look in Idaho.

    All the best

    STeve

  • @SteveMcHope I have 2 videos of a spitting spider that lives in Oklahoma, I just discovered what she was. She took care of a brown recluse that had taken up residence in my apartment.

  • The fifth star is for getting your own blood into the scenario making yourself demonstrably part of the food chain.

    Kudos

  • Cool, just caught one of these in my house today in Virginia (USA). Neat little spider.

  • if they bite you, do they kill you? I got bitten, halfhour ago.....

  • You dont have to worry - this spider could not kill a human at all. I doubt that it could bite even through human skin - at least the european species.

    All the best to you

    Steve

  • @59Ballons Here in Chile there is the Scytodes globula spider, very similar to this one (just a bit larger). You can hold it in your hands with no problems, they won't but you.

  • They are capable to kill the horrendous brown recluse spider...

  • i thought they coccooned their prey...
