We checked into Flanagan's Village Hostel and walked down to the village centre to have dinner at the McDermotts pub. There I tasted Ireland's finest Sirloin steak while enjoying the music. I eventually struck up a conversation with one of the performers and talked and joked most of the evening. Only later did I realise this man was in fact our host. The next few evenings he'd play for us at his hostel and taught me how to play the spoons.

Can anyone tell me the name of the piper. We were in Doolin a year ago and saw him play but didn't get his name.

I have fond memories of Gerald "Buddy" Flanagan.

Buddy is such a great character and a great all round musician and entertainer. Doolin is proud to call him a native.
