@j0o0ol don't care, never said it was. just said it contradicted itself, and who the hell said you know what punk is? punk is different for everyone, what it means to you is different to me, what it meant to Joe is different from Tim, etc.
I don't know why, but i've always felt this tim's vocal similarity to joe strummer was WAY more sincere amd genuine than that of green day's billy joe.
Hey, Shut the fuck up, if you don't like it why are you commenting? Rancid may have sold out, but they have one of the best background that spawned them. Rancid isn't just another band, Rancid was formed because tim was addicted to alcohol and Heroin so fuck off.
@adamraccoon Who cares if the spoiled cunt was a junkie, this is like watching Sha Na Na of punk. It's a cheap copy... it sure as hell isn't the Clash!
well yeah he intentionally slurs his voice a TINY bit, but it has alot to do with his alcoholism and the various drugs he's taken over the years...also he has a slight speech impediment (ive heard im not 100% sure)
Tim did state his father was an alcoholic and resented it. Doesn`t mean he picked up where his dad left off. Most alcoholics with Tims degree of sucess would have been dead by now . I`m sure Tim may get his drunk on occasionally, but don`t assume anything. I`ve never heard or read anything about Tim in any rehab situation or band fiascos due to drugs or alcohol.
well u havent read enough then, he's not some stupid celebrity who goes to rehab, and the reason rancid was started was a last ditch effort of matts to get tim off booze and heroin ive read on many times from many reliable sources
Well, I guess it is what it is. I just never heard any such details. I listened to Lars on Fungus religiously and he never uncovered any of Tim`s dirt, which is cool. I did see an interview of Tim talking about his home life growing up. Thnx!
I don`t have a video to send. I just came across it here one day. I couldn`t tell you if I was surfing Tim, Rancid, Transplants or Distillers. I just found it. Sorry bud. I do think it was a Transplants interview but not certain.
Well Rancid is keeping punk alive, well thats good but to bad that the punk that i love is dead, to be onest tim is a great man but wil never be greater then Joe
joe points at himself when he says original gangster and at tim when he says punk rock warlord. but get this, i thought joe' nickname was punk rock warlord and not tim's... and ive never heard either of them be called original gangster???? can anyone explain
Yea but as with anyone your voice changes as you get older, so from Basic Radio in 1986 Tim was about 20, then to Rancid in 2008 when I saw him last, he's now in his 40's. It's a cool voice either way
Tim sings breifly on some Op Ivy songs, I think hes the guy talking at the start of Unity. His voice has got deeper with age but hes always had the slur to his voice, probally inspired from Joe Strummer and Joey Ramone. PUNK = FREEDOM!
Meggyet értek...na jó, mondjuk a toy Dolls nem jön be...XDde mondjuk 1 Time Again:Dna, az odabasz:)...and the song is great, thank ya for posting it:)
Nice intro, from GiveEm The Boot, nice made that you put this - it really fits. And the song is great :D Tim sings cool in this one. A great cover of the great band and played by another great band =)
This is better than the Clash version

@0SourPatchKid0 God hates punks!, And, since Joe Strummer IS god, we have a paradox that has finally disproven God's existence, thank Punk Rock!

@sickboygrasshoper don't feed the trolls..
afzoomie67 10 months ago
@sickboygrasshoper that also contradicts itself. If Joe Strummer is god, and WAS punk (sadly, he died.), he hates himself???

this sucks so badly compared to The Clash

@milution Still, a cover is not supposed to be better than the original! It's lika a tribute man.. that comment was completely unnecessary!

kay somebody answer my question:
joe points at himself when he says original gangster and at tim when he says punk rock warlord. but get this, i thought joe' nickname was punk rock warlord and not tim's... and ive never heard either of them be called original gangster???? can anyone explain
jpzeitlin 3 years ago
Joe probably learned the Original Gangster thing in NY and passed his "name" on to Tim? Could explain it...
goodnameishere 2 years ago
maybe thats the most logical explanation anyones come up with..... i guess we gotta have someone ask tim.... thatd be pretty cool
i miss Joe. Rest In Peace.
jpzeitlin 2 years ago
Yeah, I was only 6 when he died and I didn't even know about The Clash. I had to ask mum why she was crying
goodnameishere 2 years ago 11
its not an accent its an impediment from being an alcoholic when he was younger
this is pretty cool, i never knew they did this.
xAxiom720x 3 years ago
yeah it is an impediment
LostPilgram 3 years ago
Idk man, Tim talked like that in Basic Radio, Op Ivy, and Downfall as well (all of which came before Rancid). I think he just talks that way
Run4TheShadows 2 years ago
back then it wasnt as pronounced as it is now. thats for sure

tim's voice on this track is probably natural, but on some tracks (listen to life won't wait) i'm sure he exagerates it a little bit.
