People get smuggle out of poor country all the time. They escape for purely economic reason. As for Tibet language and culture, Tibet is the place of Tibetan language and culture. Most of exile-Tibetan speak English, wouldn't they lose their tradition by moving out side of Tibet. In China, you can pretty much practice your tradition as long as you don't interfere with the government and society. So those two reasons doesn't fly.

The Refugees are actually pilgrims who are poor in China and want to see the Lama and get some education. Most of them Return to Tibet in 1 or 2 years cause the slum at Dharmasla is worse than any poor place in Tibet, China. The Lama is just using them for his cause by labeling them refugees. If the Lama really wants to help these ppl why he charges them that much money?

Tibetans only get Tibetan in lower school classes, in higher education they must speak chinese so they can't study their language. the number of monks is restricted but mostly it all goes about supression and not only the Tibetans but also the muslim population
