  • I have a hard time feeling bad for the family cause they might lose their house when they drive a new car, have a tv thats bigger than the walls in my apt, and a wii.

  • I didnt realize you represented all afghans

  • You can do better than this.

  • No idiot U!!

  • LOL ITS TIGER WOODS!

  • Nice big ass T.V , Hey if a poor ass mexican can afford that, then I guess a poor ass american like myself can too.

  • you're an idiot

  • another idiot...

  • Am I an idiot? I would be very happy to have a car like that, a house like that and a tv of that size. I am from Brazil and here we don't have this kind of luxury, just like most people from Mexico and we are not complaining.

  • Most of these things they got prior to being "torn apart", but this isn't their main concern. It's that their family has been "torn apart".. You see a big tv, a car that cannot be driven, and a house that's about to be taken away and you don't see a family that is forced to be apart.

  • They had 20 years, 20 years to get citizenship and did nothing about it. And they can still sell everything and live like kings in Mexico or get education and citizenship elsewhere. A chance almost none of us ever had. I am sorry Al Jazeera most of your stories are very good but this one is a fiasco. They are crying with gold on their feet.

  • Gold? I only see dept and and regret... I don't see a single dime in their names. I've been in a situation where I was kept apart from my family, I had a lot more money then, but it was the hardest time in my life. I haven't got half the material goods I had back then, but I am far happier. You cannot put a price on a family being together. One can be as rich as they are, but if they've lost their family, I feel sorry for them.

  • Yes you have a point, but they have come to this situation because they didn't thought about it. And they are not thinking right now , if they sold all those things they could live very, I mean, very very well here where I live.

  • They don't own these things, the banks do, they're making payments on these things. and 300,000? even if they owned the house and car completely, they wouldnt get close to 150K. and that's if they could sell it. They don't own it, they own a mortgage and probably a lease. they own debt. That's the american way. And of course there are worse things in the world.. there always will be. There are worse things than kids sifting through rubbish, but that is a story that needs to be told as well..

  • They could sell, pay their debt and take the rest. And still they knew they where illegal for 20 years and all they did was making kids. I see Al Jazeera more as an international channel than a local one for the domestic problems of the USA and I think this story was more for some channel like Fox News or CNN than Al Jazeera.

  • There is no selling.. Not sure if you understand the current state of the market in the U.S. And besides, The house is probably now worth less then their mortgage, even if they sold they'd probably still be in debt. You don't know why they weren't citizens, or have an idea of their circumstances. Aljazeera has done many such reports. A story on a local Japanese family, street gangs in the UK, and many more local level stories. All these stories carried a strong message that most can relate to.

  • Well I am sorry but from my comments I assume you have already noticed that I obviously can't relate to them. You can't blame me more than you can blame an Afghanistan for not relating to a German or a French. Perhaps there have been other families that have been abused by these policies, but I believe this one had plenty of opportunities. It was a poor choice in my opinion.

  • I guess we just thought you were human sorry our mistake..

  • Hum, so Afghans are not humans. Interesting.

  • What I mean is this is more of a local news than a global news story, I have children sifting through rubbish next to my window and they are talking about a family that have 300 000+- USD in goods.

  • may be.......

  • they actually had a really beautiful home and had to sell a lot of their luxuries to get by. These kids' father did an amazing job of maintaining his home. &They're really not complaining, they're just trying to make it on what they have. You try being sixteen, college bound, and have to leave all that to pay bills and take care of two kids.

  • Well, actually everyone complains about their problems so my comment was unnecessary. The whole family did an average job in my opinion, they could be a lot better now. But who cares anyway? Some people go up, some go down. It is natural, still not a big history in my opinion. Of course it is a good one for some people(mainly Latinos living in the US), but not for me and some other commenters here. (And I am Brazilian btw)

  • 700 people murdered in the streets of TJ last year, thanks to the "WAR" on drugs. parents deported in the war against immigration. a million iraqis dead in the war against terror.

is there a pattern here, other than death and misery and men with guns?
