  • I wrote programs in Visual Basic to compute the final sequence (2, 2, 2, 4, 4, 2, 2, 4, 4, ...). It turns out that the pattern does NOT continue but rather the sequence is random as Renshaw said was possible...here is the sequence, computed further:

    2,2,2,4,4,2,2,4,4,4,2,4,2,4,6,2,2,2,12,2,4,8,4,4,2,4,4,8,2,10,10,2,2,4,8,4,4,4,4,2,8,12,2,2,12,4,8,2,4,6,4,4,2,4,6,2,6,8,8,4,2,4,6,2,2,10,6,2,6,2,4,10,16,4,8,4,4,4,8,4,4,4,4,2,10,8,2,4,4,10,2,4,6,8,6,8,6,4,4,2,6,4,2,6,2,12,8,10,8,2,8,12,...

  • @JamesMazur2 Thankyou! I was wondering about this one, but now I know :) You should come join the forum, we are just now opening and gladly accepting members! We could use someone like you! Check it out! :)

  • I'd like to know, can it handle something like 1760/(pi), what can be calculated with it, does it have an application to the physical world. Things like this. I do apologize for coming off a little pessimistic but I've seen this before and I've just never been impressed. But I will say am interested, so I'd like to hear more, so I can give it a fair assessment.

  • I did acknowledge that there may be some merit to this, but I shared my opinion about this type of number manipulation, so I apologize if you ego was hurt in the process. I am in a field that heavily relies upon mathematics, and this is how I feel when people tote this numerology around as "new math." I've yet to see any description of natural phenomenon and have only seen a few little tricks that only work in very specific situations. I still do want to see a more general fraction.

  • If you spend enough time adding and subtracting, squaring and manipulating, you're going to reduce the series to something much smaller, but I feel like useful information was lost in all of this processing you put it though. Mildly amusing, and if you're having fun keep it up. Maybe there really is something in there, or maybe its just numerology. The difference between numerology and mathematics is analogous to the difference between astrology and astronomy. But if you enjoy it, keep it up.

  • @SayItProudSayItLoud Astrology is complete hokum and has no evidence to back it up... Number patterns have MATH themselves to back them up, so I don't get why you are commenting on many of my videos with such pessimism? I'm simply exploring, not in anyone trying to make the current fields of math look foolish? I assume you are already in one field of math and feel insecure so I'm sorry if I affected your ego by opening up another field of mathematics.
