@marneebox Hey, well all i can say is this kind ov stuff you CAN'T learn overnight, to get this good it takes years of practice and even then it also take dedication and talent. If your willing to put in the hours to learn this (and it will be many MANY hours) then i would suggest you learn programs like Maya, Mudbox and 3ds Max. But they are very expensive. Good luck though

Yea, thats the problem w gnomon tuts... no doubt they are masters but they do not show their tutorials in real time. Tutorials are meant to teach, not to show how awesome you are. I know it seems like ur doing us a favor by speeding it up and talking over your work but all those shortcuts are a big help. Their best tuts are from Scott patten, all real time, learned so much

I am looking iinto attending this school. I will be honest, my knowledge of the technical aspect of this/Computers is lacking. I have the artistics skills but can I do well here? I need training and teaching to learn the technical side. I have the desire just it is a little ittimidating. I didn;t grow up in a "computer savy" house hold

@firebirdnewt Hi there. If you've got the artistic skills that will help you alot - Many artists say that learning the software is the easiest part, being creative with it is the hardest. Autodesk have done a wonderful thing in allowing a FREE student copy of the latest software. I'm a student but not a 3d one yet. It didn't work first time so I said I went to a Uni in the US and live in Israel to get it working! Also software such as Zbrush or Nuke can be downloaded from torrents etc.

Why does the gnomon workshop never have anything for lightwave or one of the other smaller software? You only do stuff with maya and 3dsmax. You're bowing to the altar of autodesk, the monopolizing megacorporation which controls the 3d industry.

@jnddepew well all 3d apps are the same. its the layout and the structure that's different. i mean can lightwave extrude polygons? yes it can so does max and everything else. people expect a step by step clicking of buttons with no explanations. if that were the case no body would learn and develop skills. im sure you could incorporate lightwave with these tutorials.
