Ron Paul is not an isolationist in the least. He's an anti-interventionist. Theres a world of difference. Ron Paul advocates a policy of "trade with all, alliances with none." We have military personnel in 130 countries, and spend more money policing the planet then all other states on their defense combined. We create terrorists by sticking our nose in the business of other countries. Isolationism is no contact with other states. The closest thing to that now is North Korea.
WATCH BOB BARR DEBATE OBAMA AND MCCAIN 'LIVE' TONIGHT!
Thru modern technology, Bob Barr will be answering in 'real time' the same questions that moderator Jim Lehrer will be asking Barack Obama and John McCain in tonight's Presidential Debate at the University of Mississippi. Go to the Reason Magazine website to watch this event starting at 8:55 PM EST.
Of course he didn't. Who would ever admit to that? But that is what his words are saying.
Implying that we should only go to war if America is attacked and we are defending ourselves is his position.
He has no excuse for us to go to war with Germany if the United States itself wasn't attacked directly. The TriPartite Pact is meaningless to people like him because nothing supercedes what he thinks it the right and moral thing to do.
Bob Bar is NOT a libertarian and has now become a divisive cancer in the our movement and in the 3rd party cause in general.
His behavior the other day - skipping Ron Paul's news conference which he was scheduled to attend, and then staging his own later in the day at the same venue, bashing Ron Paul was FILTHY and SELFISH.
And asking Ron Paul to be his running mate was an INSULT. Paul is the performer with the big draw NOT Barr. It's like 3 Dog Night asking the Rolling Stones to open for them
I have to wonder if the Libertarian party has been overtaken by the religious right that were no longer favored within the neo-con republicans? I know we need more members but I don't think sacrificing our values is worth it. Voted for the patriot act, prosecuted men and women for the war on drugs, was against same sex marriage, voted in favor of Iraq War ... ugh wtf was the lp thinking?
Here is a letter from Barr asking Paul to be his VP today. If you read between the lines, it is clear that 1. Barr hates Ron Paul; 2. Barr expects Paul to say no to him; 3. Barr is setting himself up to look like the hero for asking and Paul the goat for saying no.
This whole letter reads "Remember when I was great and did all these great things and asked you to do things too? Remember when the things you did turned out to be stupid? Well, I am giving you a chance to redeem yourself."
He remains intransigent, though, asking LaPorte, "What's next? Will Rastafarians demand the inclusion of ritualistic marijuana cigarettes in their rations?" Barr also suggests that permitting Wiccan activity on the base would presumably affect national security and combat readiness, and refers to unspecified "detrimental effects on our society" which has traditionally "looked to our military as epitomizing the American spirit of 'for God and country.'"
Rep. Barr, a staunch Christian conservative, has now entered the fray and last week sent a letter to Lt. Gen. Leon LaPorte, commander at Fort Hood, insisting that he "stop this nonsense now." Barr now finds himself the target of protests by Wiccans in his own district who along with supporters plan on confronting the congressman at a town hall meeting this weekend.
Rep. Bob Barr (R-GA) said that the presence of a Ten Commandments monument on the grounds at Columbine High School might have prevented the shooting spree.
chuck baldwin, bob barr, all good guys to be president yet the media other then cnn news allow them coverage time, ron paul said we could get enough botes for a debate that could make mc cain and barak talk of issues within usa, and it is time to place a fence on our borders to many mexicans pourng into usa by the millions time for pres, of mexico to fix his own problem if americans did that in mexico we be in jail big time so who are they to be bitching1
Republicans of today are not the party of Lincoln.
The rupublicans of today, had they existed in 1860, would've been confederates, fighting not for the liberty of the south (the dixieland myth) but to own slaves.
I bet if all of the people who said "I'm not voting for this guy because I know he'll lose" actually voted for Bob Barr than he would win...or at least make an enormous impact. I would like to see that happen.
McCain would be a pariah to our founding fathers. He believes a "true patriot's" body (and property) should belong to the fatherland. This is not in the American spirit of freedom for which thousands of our country's true patriots fought and died. True Americans believe in freedom: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Property (later watered down to "Happiness"). McCain is not a true American. Bob Barr is.
Actually, he's a private citizen now, a FORMER congressman. He has no ability to impeach Bush, but he actually did testify against Bush last month in front of the house judiciary committee (see the vid on his Youtube channel) and is pushing for a Constitutional Inquiry (which could get the ball rolling towards impeachment). He's NOT a Republican, trust me. He's echoing the sentiments of many of us, which is that this country deserves more than just two horrible choices that divide us.
I am so sick of these anchors being forced to always bring up the "spoiler" issue with Barr. His message/platform is more important than how he feels about McCain or Obama.
Yes I'm sick of the spoiler label too, in 04 the libertarians got 400k votes, just 4 years later they are polling 6% nationaly, and over 10% in some states, sounds like disconnect between McCain and the paleo-con base.
Bob Barr is totally & absolutely wrong referring to the Republicans as Real Conservatives. Though, the Republicans are the Liberal & Classical Liberal (Libertarians) Party. The Real Conservatives are in the Democratic Party with the Progressives, and there is totally & absolutely nothing wrong with referring to the evidential logic as facts.
Thanks for the Comment. I just like to add another thing for others who would still write in ron pauls name no matter what. We all need to use another vehicle to push the message across and get other people involved in this movement. Realistically you can't really get independents and other political members involved if you tell them your writing in Pauls name. And hope they do the same it won't happen and nobody will notice it. Ron paul has even suggested they vote for any third party.
Although we love Barr, we need to make sure that Obama has no chance to get to the white house. I think that Barr has a role to play in our politics and our lives. But, Barr, let'a elect McCain, let's make sure that our country remains American!
I'd like to hear this story from another angle. CNN talking to McCain. "Mr McCain do you see yourself as a spoiler stealing votes away from Bob Barr?" :)
Excellent job! Great that Bob mentioned the fact that John McCain is obsessed with confronting Russia. It's an obsession that could get millions of people killed and bring on a global depression. Of course, the media is more worried about Palin's family than the country's foreign policy. Typical.
I hope NOW many ron paul supporters start to support you. I REALLY hate some of the people who are SOOOO conspiratorial and don't want to vote for bob. He is TALKING about everything we were fighting for and those guys won't vote cause they either don't trust him or don't like ONE little thing about the issues. At some damn point you NEED to compromise to change SOMETHING. Otherwise if you just write in his name it really is a wasted vote cause they DON'T even COUNT IT.
Neoconidiots, I agree. I think Ron Paul needs to show some leadership in this area by endorsing someone. Otherwise, the Ron Paul vote will get split between Baldwin, Barr, Ron Paul write-ins, and yes, Obama. This nation will be in such shambles by 2012 that a third-party liberty ticket will have a shot, but this year needs to be the springboard for that, which means that we need to show that a third-party liberty ticket can pull some real votes and contend. Barr is most likely getting my vote.

Barr has earned my vote. It's up to ever candidate to earn votes. A vote for principle is never a wasted vote!
yeah but some people are born idiots. Others (hippies) become that way from watching "The Daily Show" and collected bong resin on the inner layers of the brain.
It's naive and un-realistic to think that war will, and never has been, necessary.
Hitler in Germany is one prime example. Would you have preferered it if the U.S didn't intervene and let Hitler have his way with Eastern Europe and the rest of the world?
See, the difference between people like you and me is that I deal with reality and the way things are. People like you look at the world the way it should be and try to artificially create a utopian society cut off from reality.
You have created a straw man argument which eliminates you from winning this debate if you keep up. I never said that there is no situation where war would be needed. War should be fought solely for self defense as a last resort. The problem with belligerent clowns like McCain (and from your words so far, perhaps you) is that they are LOOKING for ways to enter wars. Our foreign activity has been the number one cause of extreme danger for us since the end of WWII. Defense contractors are happy.
It's not a straw-man if pacificity and a utopian worldview is your actual position.
Nazi Germany posed no threat to us and Japan, not them attacked us at Pearl Harbor. What is your justification for invading Germany and taking down Hitler's regime?
Is it just me or is the damn liberal media always asking if Barr is going to take votes from McCain? What about if he takes votes away from Obama? What a bunch of crap? I'm so sick and tired of the liberal media.
