  • Pretty good music lucky for me I like rhythmic chunky guitar and yes he does have his moments where he expresses very melodic moments but there are a lot of great guitarist' out there and had they been able to utilize an internet as we can now and download every riff and lead they came up with the moment it was realized I imagine Steve Vai and Steve Morse too would have had 1000's of homemade releases.

  • Okay, djent is not a genre.

  • 4:14 That riff. ^.^

  • Lol that guy said whoop de freaking do

  • that sound at 3:09 is a beauty

  • sick heavy metal intro at 0:33

  • 3:42 cool <3

  • 2011: last year, shut up guys

  • That beautiful chunk o' wood gives me a beautiful chunk o' wood!!

  • It's all metal, people. And if you knew about "djent" before others then whoop-dee-freaking-do, are other people not allowed to like it?

  • @SaveUsBTP no, they are not.

  • @LUMBERTHON you are stupid. And what are you doing listening to bulb? go listen to some of your secret 80s djent

  • @troglodita6000 AKA shitty meshuggah? lol

  • @troglodita6000 er... k! I'd like to apologise, but fuck you x

  • @LUMBERTHON thats ok, at least you tried... and im gonna see periphery and dt in four days soo nananan nana. Anyway, is it ok for me to liste to meshuggah if i was bor three years after they started, or is that my fault

  • I believe alot of this song is what became Letter Experiment off the Periphery album..

  • .... holy shit

  • Word is this is one of the songs they remade for the new album

  • @XXxESPxXX I'd be so stoked if that were true. This song is ridiculous

  • super HArdcore shit Looove

  • is this Bulb from periphery?!

  • @BurninAss yep!

  • fuckin drama.

what kind of guitar pickups are those in the pic?

  • @PMacG4 Looks like a pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers to me, though I could be wrong!

  • djent? fuckin labels.

  • 2012: The age that people realize that Djent isn't a genre and is really just more progmetal.

  • @gto5203 It's a style. Otherwise it wouldn't be so easy to spot similarities in other music considered "djent". That's how all genres come about. They weren't just there all along.

  • what Addictive Drums sounds like, done well.

  • @mackerelbrain Addictive Drums? I'm pretty sure that's Superior Drummer..

  • @DoubleEdgedSword12 Yup, totally right. I tried both ... Superior FTW

  • Real djentlemen don't argue like 12 year old girls over great music.

  • @DiegoKatabian Real gentlemen don't refer to themselves as "djentlemen" like 12 year olds.

  • Ive been playing for years.and he makes me feel like im starting all over again. I mean the technicallity I can do, but shit, how many songs can he put out that kick ass all over the place! I guess time will tell! He deserves all props he gets.PERIOD. I would like to personally thank him for the riff at 4:14.sick shit bro! p.s. The six dislikes must be from that new 6 member boy group..(D&D) ..you know.. (deaf & dumb) Listen for their new single "we're fucking retarded"

  • both to comments are almost the same how original...

  • @keith1780 Isn't Mansoor in Periphery? and for the record this song is eargasmic

  • @ShimoOwnzU Not just in Periphery, he leads it

  • This is a complete meshuggah rip off. I would really like to see something more original. Create something we haven't heard before and I will be impressed.

  • @snarggleflarf Well, I think this is more original, Bulb does 7th and 9th chords, and not just djent...

  • @snarggleflarf "Complete meshuggah rip off"? Meshuggah certainly were early djentlemen, but that doesn't mean others can't play djent without ripping off meshuggah. It's like, "Jimi hendrix brought overdrive to a new level. periphery use distorted guitars. periphery is just a jimi hendrix rip off."

  • holy crap, the groove at 4:31 is freaking sickkk

  • nomnomnomnomnomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom

  • I think Bulb and Periphery are way better than Meshuggah... Meshuggah is complex in the rythm but Bulb and Periphery mixes djent with Jazz, it's complex in the rythm, melodies and harmonies, and it has ambient, and chaotism, when Meshuggah just has chaos... even if I think Fredrik Thordendal solo albums are not...

  • i love how everyone gets bent out of shape about what djent is and is not.. Polyrhythms this, muted chord that! shut up and listen to the music! I think most of us can agree that it is F@#%n awesome!

  • holy shit, this is the dogs bollocks!

  • As far as i know bulb started djent. Meshuggah and Sikth started math metal/groove metal. Periphery brought them both together.

  • @kornrocks123456789 But the word "Djent" was made by Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah and it means having three octaves of the root-note in a power chord, it's actually not a genre or a style.

  • @GameKid98 Oh. I didnt know who started the word djent. But thats why i said "As far as i know" lol. But i never said djent was a style or genre. Djent is a sound. Not a genre.

  • @kornrocks123456789 It seemed to me that you thought djent was a mix between Sikth and Meshuggah, but ok.

  • @kornrocks123456789 Bands like Cynic, Atheist, Death and maybe even Watchtower were doing technical stuff a long time ago. The sound has changed and spun off into a whole new genre, but there have been bands doing the highly technical / jazz stuff in metal for many years.

  • @kornrocks123456789 Groove metal is basically what djent is

  • 4:10 = gr0_0ve

4:45 = djagg ja djagg ja djagg drrannga djagg dja djagg

  • Tron Metal

  • fucked up pus

  • can you tell me from where you get the full version?

thx for the upload, amazing song

  • 2011 the age of spacecore

  • Those heavy notes just smack me right in the eardrums with aural pleasure!!

  • 4:31... dat riff

  • @DrummerX77 pwoah. yeah, that is the peaker

  • @DrummerX77 That is probably one of the best guitar riffs I ever heard

  • RADIONLYMETAL on Facebook

    Become Fan \m/

  • i thought djent was called groove metal back in the day. or math metal. until the 7 and 8 string thing caught and people realized they didn't have to turn their gain all the way up in order to get all percussive

  • My God, 4:31 to the end is fucking amazing. Bulb is awesome

  • @AnnihilatorMMCXLV must listen to it over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over .........

  • this is not djent this is pure talent :)!

  • if this is the music of my generation i can live with that fuck mainstream

  • @brokensk Grammar can be your friend or your enemy. It took me a number of times to read your statement to figure out exactly what you meant... But I agree; the real music isn't in the mainstream.

  • Definitely my favorite Djent song ever. Unbelievably groovy and just nasty sounding. Love it!

  • This song is INSTRU - MENTAL :D

  • Favorite.

  • thall

  • I swear djent is going to be bigger than the thrash movement

  • @CapnPuff69 duh! thrash sucks!

  • Man keep it up. I just found one of your old CDs i burned like 4 or 5 years ago. I totally forgot about how badass it was. Keep doin it man. I love your music. Definitely always been influenced by meshuggah and your tone is fuckin killer. First person ive heard that can make polyrythms so fuckin groovy man. Good shit!

  • @drewh666 My bad for some reason i thought this was bulbs channel. Anyone know it?

  • stunning song

  • Ummmm......ummmmm......speechless...beautiful cacophony

  • I'd love to see the face of some pop-musicians when hearing Djent for the first time. First off they would be like, aw this sucks. But I'm certain that if they are honest they will like it afterward.

  • @TheRitalinJunkies Djent is waddling it's way into the mainstream due to some of the -core genres. We can see results then.

  • @heavygunz301

I just can't agree with that, mainstream metal is so far from real mainstream music it's not even funny. I mean, Rihanna gets like 60 million views in a few months, and the best metal can get is like 40 million views with System Of A Down (which is a great band by the way) in several years . Metal is nowhere near "mainstream" in my opinion.

P.S: I looked up Rihanna just for an example, lol

  • @Danelawz What is this all of a sudden? =)

All I said was that Djent is becoming well known, thus "mainstream", due to the -core genres(metalcore, deathcore, etc), which are actually more mainstream than real metal. And although I agree with your whole spiel, System of a Down is more of their own style of rock with a little bit of metal influences.

  • @heavygunz301

Well, we obviously have different interpretations of the word "mainstream" :)

  • does matt play on any of misha's bulb material?

  • fucking awesome. Bulb is one of my heros. Keep it coming! There will always be idiots who don't understand anything about music who will judge you, but its pretty funny being that they dont really understand music in the true sense of the word. Fuck em

  • Anybody know what guitar is in the pic? It's beautiful. :D

  • @CassDarkwing 99.9% sure it's a carvin dc747

  • @xxxpyromaniac you better be 0% sure its a dc747. its a dc727. 2 humbuckers.

  • @nostealthebucket9009 You sir would be right, my bad.

  • okay i'm going to clean all the jizz in my room i'm coming people (O)

  • Wow the band Spanyurd sucks soooo bad.

  • 4:31 DJDJDJDJDJDJDJDJDJEEENT!!! \m/ Best riff

  • hearing this makes me want to buy the pod xt over the HD

  • Djesus..

  • I want to fuck that guitar!!!! BALLZ!!!!!!!!

  • simply phenomenal

  • This song would make a good background music for a group of warriors preparing for a deadly war.

  • the beats really made the song. but the guitars as always awesome

  • Good God. I can't even describe the awesomeness of this.

  • Great :D

  • Okay, in indirect reply to the douche who made the top comment by attempting to talk shit about Bulb/Misha Mansoor...the comment doesn't make sense...if Meshuggah jerked off their guitars, wouldn't it make them sound MORE eargasmic than they already do..? Someone needs to learn how to dish out an insult.

  • SUCKS!!!

    apparently not.

  • 4:15 - 5:03

  • i came for the gorgeous guitar

    i stayed for the djent

    fuck yeah

  • it's great and i like it a lot

  • I was listening to this stuff years ago, but at least people are getting into it now and it's getting the credit it deserves

  • I don't know what the fuck happens at 4'38" and 4'54" but it makes me jizz in my pants.

  • @tommyeffinb

lol i find this funny coming from someone with such horrible videos and no musical talent such as yourself

  • @TruNikkaz I think you forced him from the internet, brah.

  • @TruNikkaz i agree. only a fucking idiot couldn't separate this from meshuggah

  • @opeth41 just as any idiot should be able to know this shit's a new wrapper on the same damn toy, any way you slice it. doesn't mean it's not good as all hell, but let's not forget roots here. this band DOES NOT EXIST without them Swedes. period.

  • @stevestjamesprogram i didnt say they werent djent i said if you cant tell teh difference between bulb and meshuggah you are a dumb ass.

  • @tommyeffinb GTFO.

  • @tommyeffinb are you fucking kidding me? did you listen to the break down and solo?

  • @tommyeffinb

That sounds hot. I don't know why you'd be complaining about that lol

  • @tommyeffinb man, humpin your own mom wasn't such a good idea after all eh ?

  • @tommyeffinb Meshuggah jerking off their guitars sounds better than your band.

This sounds way better than your band.

I smell both bias and jealousy from you!

Its ok, keep practicing. You might reach the level of sounding like Meshuggah jerking off their guitars. Maybe.

  • @tommyeffinb thats funny because i just saw your band and it looks like your jacking off your instruments! not to mention it sounds like SHIT!

  • @tommyeffinb Shut up Justin Bieber

  • @tommyeffinb uhm.. you say "its like if meshuggah wanted to jerk off their guitars" like they dont already. And wouldnt that be a good thing?!

  • @tommyeffinb Technically speaking, they do jack off their guitars. Their hands going so fast up and down the neck is just like masturbating.... The music that comes out is the continuous jizz.

  • @tommyeffinb that would be awesome!

  • favorite guitarist next to tosin abasi

  • TABS...??

  • That has to be the foulest groove i have ever heard.

  • Thanks for naming a song after me dude

  • @fuf

    lol!

  • so good..

  • 2011: And so began the Age of Djent.

  • @MrSpitz99 Im pretty sure the 'Age Of Djent' has been going round ever since fredrik thordendal came up with the term.

2011: when the term 'Djent' is used by everyband that makes a 'Bowm' sound with their guitars -__-

**this excluds bands like Periphery, Monuments, TesseracT .ect**

  • @HiiITzJames You are correct. However, I feel that this year, and last year to some extent, is going to be remembered as the Golden Age of Djent. It may peak and fade within a few years (just look at what happened to Deathcore), but the genre has certainly seen an explosion of both fans and bands, or at least a drastic increase in the number of bands using the "Djent" sound.

  • @MrSpitz99 Just because you discovered it in 2011 doesn't mean it actually all started in 2011

  • @BlackSunSerenade well, yes. what i meant was that Periphery, Animals as Leaders, etc. have all become immensely popular this year and are now among the most talked-about bands in metal. yes, the genre started with Meshuggah and grew over more than two decades, but djent bands/artists are this generation's squad of Florida death metal pioneers, in a way.

  • @MrSpitz99 Now let's hope that's a good thing though...

  • @BlackSunSerenade oh man, i hope so, too. it would be so sad to see djent implode like deathcore or nu-metal did... not that i mourn the passing of nu metal or anything :D

  • @MrSpitz99 =D most Frucking inspiring words ever!

  • @MrSpitz99 Actually 1995, Meshuggah started it

  • @TheAustimusPrime yeah but it's gone mostly unrecognized up until just recently lol

  • @TheAustimusPrime close but 1994 ep started it =D

  • @tidusx665 True, if you want to get all technical lol

  • @TheAustimusPrime I feel like 1995 Meshuggah modernized the "Breakdown" I wouldn' say they went djent until 2005

  • @musicluuva Nope, listen to "Aztec Two Step" that is straight up djent. That's where Misha got it from

  • @TheAustimusPrime yes Meshuggah definately was ahead of its time =)

  • @MrSpitz99 Djent's been around longer than 2011, but i hear ya

  • @MrSpitz99 early 90's with meshuggah :p

  • @MrSpitz99 Except this was made before 2011...

  • @0987654321dta as well as alot of other djent music

  • @MrSpitz99 or when Meshuggah started playing this type of music 20+ years ago..

  • @MrSpitz99 2011: The age of people beginning to notice and like Djent!

1987: The age of Meshuggah, or otherwise known as "The Birth of Djent" lol

  • @cheyeguy 2011: The age of you beginning to notice and like djent

Before: other people already did but you just didn't know

    Not even mad

  • @BlackSunSerenade well to be fair, i was born in '93 and didnt start developing a good ear for music until about 10 yrs later. but by about 2005 i was listening to meshuggah! lol >:D

  • @BlackSunSerenade when i found out about periphery sometime in november last year they had around 25k likes on facebook i think. now look at how many they have. of course, 25k is a lot of people but 75k has still found out about them in 1 year.

  • @BlackSunSerenade Yes, I didn't know, because before the 2011 the people call it Progressive/melodic/technical metal, and another bullshits. Maybe tomorrow they change the genre's name. I don't wanna be rude, but I hate the new posers who think know everything about everything. I love Periphery, Vildhjarta, Animals as leaders, and a long etc. But Metal, is always metal.

And this is my opinion, RESPECT.

  • @cheyeguy Back then Meshuggah played technical thrash metal. The "Djent" sound didn't really come around 'till about 1995 with Destroy Erase Improve.

  • @rage1331 well yeah, you got me there! lol my point was that the band that started most of it all was in 1987! XD i wasnt really sure what to call their music from then though! i guess technical thrash describes it pretty well!

  • Comment removed

  • @cheyeguy birth of proper swedish death metal, djents a bit later.

  • Periphery rip the shit out of meshuggah. Meshuggah suck dick

  • @TheBleedingFace Well messhugah is 20 years old and originated the sound that periphery works off of... So no, they really don't.

  • I love how people are just starting to get into djent even though Meshuggah has been doing it for like 20 years... fail.

  • @SOUTHPARK169 While this is true to an extent, Djent is now easier to get into because of the recent influx of melody in the genre. Though they are awesome, Meshuggah doesn't tend to use more than three notes in a song, and this is offputting to a lot of people. Artists like Bulb who infuse the polyrythms of Djent with intricate melodies make the genre much more accessible to the general public (while simultaneously making Djent more complex as a whole)..
