  • El meor tema de la carrera entera de Sting solista...

  • I love this album; and I have a copy on vinyl. sealed. I want to open it it, but part of me wants to never open it.

  • Probably my favorite solo Sting album. From beginning to end it just wraps you in its mystical, magical warmth and power. Amazing .

  • I remember the first time i listen to this opening album song, i was a bit shivering because i did not know if the album was as good as the first. It was different. I was always looking for some police sound in sting's album, this one had some.

  • Fun Fact: Originally going to be the ending song of the movie: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"

  • Amazing sting.

  • The drummer is awesome in this tune!

  • @markj15062 enjoy lady ga ga !

  • One of my favorites. To me, Nothing Like the Sun, and Dream of the Blue Turtles are THE essential Sting albums.

  • lady gaga? r u kidding this is songwriting at its best! eat shit todays " hitmakers" u suck big time!

  • Riding my pushbike, fast as I can to the rhythm of this song purging my own demons

  • seems like one channel missing to me.. i used to hear it from the LP

  • Haunting song, one of many favs from "Nothing LIke The Sun"

  • rolling stone did an interview with him around this time of his parents' passing ... and I read his words in the interview and bought his tape right then and didn't stop until I had everything he'd ever been involved in musically--from police to solo works to concerts with various orchestras and songs from the labyrinth ... he is basically the most consistent soundtrack of my life (and I know I'm not the only one); interesting, the power of an artist to connect with others.

  • The birds that sat on my mothers roof sit on my own roof today .

  • loved this album & i love sting & everything he sings.

  • I think the words I heard are "She counts all her children as the shield against the pain", not "against the rain".

  • As I 1st heard this song and album, I didn't know about his mother and I just loved this fresh joy inspired by the light and clear melody / theme. Now I still consider it as a genius artistic work of art to be able to change pain into strength and joy.

  • a Great sing by a great Sting.

Manu Katche on the drums kicking ass!!!

  • This song was originally written for the film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" - however, it was removed from the film when the film's ending was changed (the original ending had Roger dying in the finale, unlike the ending to the film we have and know today)

  • @SPeacock thank god!

  • @carrier3232 Indeed.

  • now show everyone the correct lyrics and apologis for putting the wrong ones up

  • My freshman year at Purdue, 1988-89. I listened to this record at least twice ever day. On cassette, of course, the entire album from start to finish.

  • Loves me some Sting!

  • @Muziclvr07 me's 2. all i have 2 do is hear a song & if i dont no it, if i heard Sting's voice, i would no it was him; just like most of the male singers: i know all their voices when they sing. when people call me on the phone, i no their voice without them saying their name....creepy huh?

  • more than just pop..... and he made a very good song out uf that,,,,,,,,,

  • What a gem.

  • According to IMDB, I read that this song was "originally written as the movie's musical finale, at an early stage of the movie's production when the book's tragic ending, where Roger is killed in the crossfire during the final duel, was still in the script [for 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit']." However, the studio ordered its default ending to be used at the film's end, in which Roger is alive at the end of the duel, and the song ended up on "...Nothing Like the Sun". Weird.

  • yeah this sound sounds gooooood CRANKED!!

  • i love 3:02-3:08 wen da beat change

  • not loud enough.....

  • drum and bass in this song are wonderful...one of my favourite sting song..

  • obaaaaaaaaaaaa yooooooooo! Edy 0001 police

  • listning to it . . .everytime it makes me shiver . . . great song

  • Andy Summers on the guitar!

  • Such imagery. He paints powerful landscapes with words and music.

  • One of the masterpieces of Master Sting.

One of the great composers, musicians, singers and personalities in the Music during over 30 years and I hope he keep his genius working much more time.

  • this is a brilliant song- written about partly his mother's death in late 1986, and a nightmare he had one night

  • Yeah, he thought it was a nice subject for a song. Turned out to be a dream. But not just a nightmare. It's an archetypal dream of the fisher king. (Can't he do anything original?)

This is a quote from his own album. Heh heh.

  • His Mother died during this album being recorded. He wrote this for her and dedicated the album to her . Original ???

  • "The Lazarus Heart"

    Sting

    1987

Sting's mum passed away while he was making his second album, Nothing Like the Sun. Appropriately, he channeled his grief into "The Lazarus Heart," the story of an artist who's creativity is drawn from a wound inflicted by his mother. With its dreamlike, mythical imagery, the song is a moving homage not only to Mrs. Sumner but the whole mother archetype. Sting dedicated the finished album to his mom and made this its opening track.

  • @GETANCHOREDNOW your comment nearly made me cry!

  • @GETANCHOREDNOW Yes indeed, nice description. I don't often look up this song, but it remains a very beautiful one whenever i do so!

  • @GETANCHOREDNOW

Dayum, I love this song, it has a special meaning to me now. thank you...

  • @GETANCHOREDNOW .......thank you for the beautiful expression of information to those of us who did not know.........blessings.

  • @P102AB I am so sorry I did not know about Sting's mother's passing that he wrote so eloquently about for his mother in 1987 (?)

  • @GETANCHOREDNOW Nicely put.

  • One of (if not THE) finest songs by Sting. Over 20 years on and it still gets me...

  • Recorded 1987 - Nothing Like The Sun

  • I wore two of these albums out. And I still come here to listen to my favorites....

  • Sweet ass tour!!!!!

  • Omg! I heard about this song after reading an article in Modern Drummer magazine about a drummer named Marko DJorjevic. The rhythym change during the sax solo at 3:00. Playing 3's over 4's and turning a striaght 4/4 into a swing! wow!

  • Special song for every good mother.

  • 1987

  • anyone know when this was originally recorded?

  • Love this!

  • Great track ... more people need to hear it !

  • Great Song! Old friend Andy Summers played guitar on this track!

  • Thanks for uploading this song! I've been looking forever for this.
