  • Xmas 1984!!!

    THX!

  • beautiful circuit. excellent job well done! hello from paris thierry

  • "The Crazy about watching this for us old schooler is. 1. TCR use to be Ideal. 2. The new TCR cars are Aurora AFX Speed Steer Cars. And the cool thing they fix was if you were in the inside lane and entering the turn the car would automatically go into the outside lane, go though the turn then go back to the inside lane coming out of the turn. Now they have Borders between the lanes on the curve Tracks to keep the can in the inside lane Very Cool."

  • very nice set up. This is the first time I've seen a race car track have as much scenery build around it the way a model railroad would have.

  • You smell solder all I know is the ideal setsI had never performed like that .., It had it's moments. Tyco must have put stronger magnets in those new chassis but you would think that would slow the car down? Beautiful set Mine is mostly MK1 with a few MK2 .

  • Wow !!!! Buddy Congratulations !!!!! This is a really very nice track !!!!!!

  • I'm impressed by all the model landscaping layed out wityh the track. When I was a kid I was lucky to get just the track itself.

  • Just amazing. I'm going through a Christmas TCR gift nostalgia thing right now!

  • I had Tyco Command Control in the mid to late seventies. Main problems - had to be kept spotlessly clean for traction, no way to hold inside line on curve, cars lost a car length when changing lanes and no need to back off for curves. How does this compare?

  • My cars didn't go that fast, but these might be modified or a newer version.I got my set when it first came out from Ideal.

  • SUPER !

  • that kicks ass!

  • great track, great video, even i have my own set but this one is amazing.. keep looking after it

  • @BlaklyonZero i like this scale and i collect those Tyco TCR but if you look for a bigger scale take a lot at "Carrera Servo" here and on ebay, maybe you could be interested in..

  • I don't think so. It's been a long time.

  • This was the best xmas present I ever got...28 years ago!!! Is it still made??? Haven't seen it in Europe since the 80's

  • I think they stopped making them in the early 90's in the states. There are always many new and used sets and accessories for sale on eBay.

  • @Anto1 Conservative folk aren't really accepting of modern "fads" in slot car racing. Digital sets are probably doing the best they can because of it but are still developing extremely slowly.

  • @Anto1 it is not still made. I got mine Christmas 1978. That is all I wanted for Christmas that year. I play the hel out of it. My Nephew got in my mothers attic last year and found it. Put it together and it still worked. Tires were dryrotted but everything else was fine. I have put it up until I have the time to add on and do something like this. Great toy...great memories.

  • I know... 1/43 scale would be perfect

  • Hello wow awesome track layout. Always been a fan of TCR and I just added a pretty nice size layout to our train set. Quick question. What do you do so the cars don't crash out on the turns? And my track will be pretty large as well. Do you think that since I have to power straight tracks that I could or should connect both power packs one on each side? Thanks.

  • I have elevated the outside of some of the turns to simulate "bankiing" The only real skill in racing on these tracks, is knowing when to slow for the turns so you don't crash. I only use one (stock) power pack on the entire layout. I have never felt it needed more.

  • Excellent.5* Really super track u have there. I see there are divider strips on the corners. Is that something youve added yourself or was it and official upgrade?

  • Thanks for the comment. The track, cars, power supply and controllers are all stock.

  • Wow - that's the nicest setup i've ever seen. Good job!

  • What no "Jam CAR?" good 2 see old school

  • Hi Mate,

Do you still own this track layout?

I am just about to build a tyco tcr track layout and would appreciate advice on AC power supply for the layout.

I'm assuming you used a custom AC power supply and did not use the stock power adaptor?

    Cheers,

    Alan

  • Yes, it's still up and running. I did use the stock power supply. Just make sure the contacts between tracks are clean. Also, I occasionally clean the track surface with rubbing alcohol. As you see, it's a fairly big track. If you go bigger you might need some more "juice".

  • OK mate thanks.

I have owned two of these sets since the early 90's and have always found the stock power supply too low in juice resulting in slow car speed and performance especially when i also used a jam car.

In the previous layout I used a 24v 1.5A power supply which resulted in better car performance and speed.

I am actually seeking a high banked speedway set which had the high banked corner track. Damn, why did i ever sell the original i owned!

    I'll keep you posted.

    Cheers,

    Alan
