His guitar looks like he carries on the front bumper of his car and uses Bungie Chords to tie on with. Hell, if he would simply just Pass The Hat in the audience then perhaps they would indulge in buying him a hard shell case, with plush lining....it sure would make it appear as tho he cares a rats' ass about his instrument...!

look at chet atkins gretch guitars. or knopflers pensas. there you have guitars. there is a reason tommy only has a guitar or two. he isnt actually a sound perfectionist like the guys! i see yet again that he doesent stick to the song. allways some rubble. (what tards call impro)lol. he has spent some years to worn the guitar off the wrong places you see;P but he is very good. note my favs
Well, let's say I do know shit about music testing123isthison....For example and for starters here, Tommy is playing a Maton Guitar.......NOT a Martin. Got that?
And the aprox. cost of his guitar is $3,150.00.....so ummmm...who's the Idiot here...?? Go figure....!

He would not sound so good if they eliminated the snare drum, the bass, and the 34 other guitarists laying down 6 tracks each just outside the picture.
if u can't appreciate, at least don't hate. there is no drum, there is no bass, this is pure tommy emmanuel buddy and if u can't handle it then that's your problem..
shoe 59 and saftelskeren- I'm a player, I have TE's books and both of his videos, and guitar arrangements I've been working on Windy and Warm for nearly a year off and on. Shoe -You need to change your meds, lighten up and laugh a little. Don't buy the book ($56). unless you want his bio too. I could have gotten some of the arrangements on the internet free Get a smile.
Carolkee, I think YOU missed the point :p I think Billnn54 means it ironic, TE is just so good that it seams there's a band playing with him... but in stead he's doing everything al by him self. I saw him this week and he made everybody feel good including me!! He IS the man!!
I respectfully disagree. Of course this is one of his easier songs since it's ultimately based on the simplistic Loudermilk original.
However, I believe it would be inaccurate to determine ones dexterity and skill as a guitarist based solely on their ability to *discern* the notes being played in this song.
A developed ear doesnt necessarily relate to playing ability; especially in a modern world where tab for any and everything is so widely available.
I love the attitude of this song. I'm just discovering TE. I'm into old school and real musicians but I guess I'm too young to have heard the name. Anyway cool song
After watching lots of Tommy Emmanuel's videos, I don't know what to tell you. I'm a guitar player and I bet I hear things he's doing that nobody but a guitar player would get. He's on another planet.
Now, all great guitar players have their own style, but this man exhibits creativity and proficiency (he hits EVERY note) and soul that put him far above plain old style. If you think Clapton is God that's saying more about you than Eric.
You certainly hit the nail on the head with that great comment. I saw Tommy Sunday night in Southern CA. It was my third time and it seems like he just gets better and better which seems impossible. When he played "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" I got all choked up. He is the most emotional player I've ever seen. Thanks TE!!!!
Hi , well ive seen and met Tommy several times and I can tell you, what ever thoughts you have about Chet or any other Guitarist will be put into context on that day. Chet is a fabulous musician but this is another level.
T.E. is a great performer, probably best acoustic --living but,if the audiance for Chet Atkins would have been of a broader span....................It would have raised
his playing, and the barre ,,and for the present players. Being a (Knoxville TN bourne native.......close to Chets town)Just F>Y>I>................I wish I would have got to see Chet when he was alive, but I do plan seeing T.E. when I get a chance.
NO WAY he is human. This clip is evidence that advanced extraterrestrial life forms with 10 fingers on each hand actually do exist here on Earth. Play it slowly and you'll see the extra fingers!
One of Tommy's best renditions of W&W I have ever heard. And it looks like he's off to slipping into Classical Gas at the end. Do you have that one too?
Unfortunately I haven't recorded Classical Gas. I had to save some memory on my digicam so I only recorded two complete Songs (Blue Moon and Angelina) which I'll upload later. :)
anyone has tabs from the part 0:09 to 0:12? I just can't figger it out!

It's one of his easier songs, actually. But if you need a tab and can't do it by ear, you're probably not at the level required to play it yet.

I'm sure that you had a great time on a gig.
PS I'm also saving money for a Maton ;)

Matons sound really nice, but you have to remember that most of Tommy's sound depends on his fingers.
wysek 4 years ago
Yes, you're right...you have to learn the technique first than you can think about a better guitar.
Anyway I can't afford a Maton... ;)
