It has failed over 85% of the time in identifying "terrorists" (based on the # of detainees at Gitmo), and it has never once IN RECORDED HUMAN HISTORY succeeded at preventing anything close to 9/11. Think about it. Torture is as successful as a gun that misfires 5 out of every 6 times and never hits its target even with that one shot.
Yet our administration continues to support it despite a massive body of scientific research which shows in parallel circumstances that non-coercive (i.e. rapport building) interrogation is far more accurate and produces far superior results not to mention avoiding all the legal and ethical problems that torture poses.

I understand that we need to protect America, but there are many effective ways to do that and torture is not one of them. It has failed over 85% of the time in identifying "terrorists" (based on the # of detainees at Gitmo), and it has never once IN RECORDED HUMAN HISTORY succeeded at preventing anything close to 9/11. Think about it. Torture is as successful as a gun that misfires 5 out of every 6 times and never hits its target even with that one shot.

First off, what war? Terrorism can't be fought and won. Second, if it is a war, then the constitution was not followed. Third we can't prevent our own citizens from acts of terrorism. Forth, were borrowing money from China. Total prevention will only come when the governments track our every move. Who wants to be chipped? Any takers?

We protect the right of habeus corpus because no democratic government that has suspended that right, even with war criminals or prisioners or among groups that no one identifies with, has a government failed to use that policy against its own people. Is it the dogs barking at naked people, or is it the simulated sex acts? Thanks for posting this, and great comments rhawk301. It's amazing that politicians like this can be so ignorant about who is being held in Guantanamo. The prisoners there are being detained without charge or trial, meaning they are innocent of all crimes. Romney doesn't realise that Guantanamo's existence is only fuelling hatred of America, and showing the USA to be an abuser of human rights.
