Modern religions portray him as a deity and some sot of father figure, when really God is just a principle, the philosophical principle of the good. I would actually argue that the true problem is that we (and by that I mean religious people too, if not mainly) have not reflected enough upon the idea of God itself, we don't know what "God" actually means.

But, if you look at TRULY religious people, they usually don't. there are a lot of people that claim to be christian or muslim but they are lost and confused. don't blame the religion for their faults. There is no proof that God doesn't exist either. so to believe 100% without question, and to spread the word that to believe in a God is a mental illness is just as delusional and short sighted as the zealots.

to Mancuso64. Antony is Christian. There is evidence for the existence of God. Look up Immanual Kant, Religion Within the Limits of Reason Alone and Surrendra Gangadean, Philisophical Foundation. In any regard I love Antony. His music has saved me so many times.

@dantheman500 You're taking it out of context though, He said those at 2 different spots in his comment. He didn't say "THAT is evidence of God". He said "There IS evidence of God." He did not say that because Antony is Christian, that God exists.

You experience the world in light of what you believe in to make the experience meaningful. that would be religion. not organized or unorganized but religion in itself. Why is that religious people always assume everyone else is living under the same delusion that they are living under? I don't mind people being religious, it's a form of mental illness, but I can live with it. Please, allow others the rest of the sane world to live without constantly being subjected to your crackpot theories. There is no evidence for the existence of a God, but believe it if you wish to.

Well then if a crackhead were to offer you some crack, then fair enough, criticise them for it. But if they were only declaring their apreciation for crack, then don't.
My point was, that 1LonePuma wasn't "trying to get you to do" religion, they were just expressing themselves in a religious way. It's as easy to ignore as a crackhead in a gutter.

I accept others beliefs because it would be foolish not to do so. I don't accept that the sentiments came from a "kind place". I suggest they come from 2,000 years of indoctrination by the Christian faith. A fath that has underpinned endless wars, ritual abuse, and the subjugation of people depending upon the nature of their sexuality or gender. I'm an athiest, there is no proof whatsoever for a God. mikewh1989's comment wasn't necessarily reffering to who is atheist/agnostic/theist and who is right, but to how comments like yours could be considered to be ramming atheism down people's throats as much as some religious people do. Which is actually not what 1LonePuma was doing in my opinion.

@Mancuso64 The problem is not the question whether there is a God or not, the problem is that people don't understand what God actually is. Modern religions portray him as a deity and some sot of father figure, when really God is just a principle, the philosophical principle of the good. I would actually argue that the true problem is that we (and by that I mean religious people too, if not mainly) have not reflected enough upon the idea of God itself, we don't know what "God" actually means.

But, if you look at TRULY religious people, they usually don't. there are a lot of people that claim to be christian or muslim but they are lost and confused. don't blame the religion for their faults. There is no proof that God doesn't exist either. so to believe 100% without question, and to spread the word that to believe in a God is a mental illness is just as delusional and short sighted as the zealots.
