  • I have a D40 that I bought in 2006, I've been off auto since 05/07/2011 and I will never go back. Amazing. It still gets kind of itchy on low light situations but I've got my lens list worked out and will be starting with that in a couple months. Anytime I wander what the hell to do I just ask myself WWJPD?

  • Lithium-Ion batteries do not require a full discharge/recharge. These batteries have a finite number of "full charge cycles" meaning dis-charging the battery half way, re-charging, dis-charging half way again and re-charging is actually 1 single charge cycle .

This is a benefit of the internal charge circuitry built into all Lithium-Ion batteries,

the full discharge/re-charge cycle you are recommending is more suited to Nickel-Cadmium and Nickel-Metal hydride batteries due to "memory effect".

  • For those who don't have LightRoom3 to tether their camera to the computer, you can try this program from

    diyphotobits . com

    It's great for stop-motion pics, too. It's free =)
