I've been producing in the dance genre for about three years now, and I want to go to the next level. My problem is the following: after opening up a drum instrument, I start to edit the kickdrum with vst's. though I am not able to use more than 24 vst slots. I start with filling up the first 8 slots for the instrument within the mixer. Then I add a group channel, which is another 8 slots, and after that I am stuck.... 24 slots if I fill in the main mixers panel. Any help ? really appreciate it

Okay.. Im a noob at cubase... Just got cubase 5. Anyways I have an interface with 8 mic outputs. I have selected the driver and went to my vst connections... Put all 8 mic buses down and see them on the cubase mixer. But I can only record with the bus that has the red speaker icon next to it. How can I record all of them? Thanks

Need help here. i recorded sound at a friend's studio recently with cubase 5. At his place, we able to played and edited the sound we just recorded. So i asked a copy, since i have a similar software (just installed) and planned to edit it myself. Then he gave me a copies with ".cpr", ".csh" & ".bak" type of files. By the time i reach home and trying to open up these files on my cubase 5, there is no sound came out. Instead an error message with 'resolve missing file' appeared. why is that?

@jeffinside With the cubase file you have to take the audio files as well mate . When you open cubase its asks where to save every audio file you will record !

i have the most retarded questions ever lol. 1) how do I copy and paste hooks/ chorus' without having to try to line up the copied vocals and manually time them perfect with the tempo. I dont wanna re-record the hooks. 2) how do I silence parts in the vocals I dont want without shortening the vocals causing me to have to line up the vocals to match up the songs tempo. Hello there! I have the Cubase 5 Version. I also have a MIDI Key Board- Xio 49 Synth which has an in-built Sound Card. Earlier Icould record the audio from my MIDI Key Board by opening the Audio Track. Then I had to re-format the computer because of some errors and Virus. Now when I try recording Audio by opening the Audio Track nothing is heard in the playback. I also tried recording vocals but it didn't record my vocals in the Audio Track. So could you please tell me how to set it right.

Also, I really dislike all these pitch corrections and whatnot. If you can't sing the right notes, you shouldn't be singing. I HATE it when people computer correct their voices.

There is nothing wrong with these autotunes and pitch correction. Theyve been used since about mid nineties in farout most songs. That''s the thing. If you use it how it''s intented, it will only make the vocals seem '' perfect'' , but will not sound computer generated. THese days, in music land, it''s the fashion to ''abuse'' this pitch correction software. Before it was used in the mid nineties, you could quite often hear flawns in pitch..not so great..

a problem im having is that my vocals will have peeks like if a say something with a T or something and yes i have a pop filter but its still very loud and harsh on the ears... when i try to compress it the whole track is compressed... do u have any advice?

@isreal95 You could try a de-esser, which is basically a frequency-selective compresser. Your problem sounds will probably be found within a small range of frequencies, so you just need to locate the problem area and set the de-esser to turn down this range. Compression on the whole track might actually make your pops worse

Cubase Studio 5 and Cubase Essential 5 do NOT have VariAudio included! You need to get the full Cubase 5. Since it's a new feature in Version 5, you can't do this in Cubase 4 or older.

Essentials only gives you the Halion1 VST and a few fx but that's it.

female vocalist needing help please, I had my vocal harmonies recorded onto my mp3 backing tracks at a studio. I'm adding new material and i need to update my tracks. I have mp3 backing tracks some with my own harmonies on and some without, I want to either add extra harmonies and doubling my voice to my present and existing backing tracks. This looks great! Melodyne is good but it's cumbersome to use as a plugin and not very user friendly. The fact that this Melodyne clone works within Cubase should make the whole process much easier to use! Now if they can just mimic the Direct Note Access we'll be laughing! :)

guitar's always going to be different unless your takes are completely free of all scratches and noises and uh...simultaneous notes. As far as I can tell, this pitch correct in Cubase, unlike Melodyne, can only do single notes.

go for it dude, i took the jump from Nuendo 3 to Cubase 5 and i can't believe i was recording that out dated shit lol..

cubase is some where around 5 to 6 bills in most shops... but totally worth it

Protools uses proprietary sound cards which you have to buy with the software (either m-audio, or the regular digi cards). Digidesign has a history of pulling the rug out from users with older cards by dropping support in the newest versions of protools. Cubase 5 can do much, much more than protools LE out-of-the-box. Not only do you get more goodies like what you see in the video, but you're not limited to 48 voices (totally lame). You also have the freedom to use whatever sound card you want.

Please post a video demonstration of this feature without talking over the audio examples, remove any reverb or delay on the vocal and let us decide for ourselves if it indeed preserves the fidelity of the original recording.

I love Cubase and I've been a Cubase user for a long time. I still doubt that Variaudio comes close to Melodyne. Melodyne sounds very natural and the next update is going to allow working with polyphonic material.

In this video the raw material that is beeing tuned doesn't sound natural so logically nobody is able to tell how natural Variaudio sounds because everything sounds artifical from the start.
