  • killer indeed

  • i wish it was 1988

  • About half of Eddie's guitar work bends the laws of music theory. The other half shreds it and flushes it down the crapper.

Say what you will about modern 'guitar gods', but in my lifetime, only Jimi and Eddie made the music world grind to a screeching halt. Only those two forced the world to seriously redefine what sounds you could make with a guitar.

  • I think Frank Zappa said something to the effect that Eddie Van Halen reinvented the electric guitar. Anyway, he gave him the nod. The guy was and still is a Wizard. He had the looks and the charm back then too.

  • ha ha eddies guitar sounds better than the keyboard and this version of cathedral kicks ass because he was playing it for the master les paul

  • I think the bass player got a little intimidated when it was his time to solo.

  • RIP LES PAUL

  • He who bowed down to his master.

  • Cool video-I love that Eddie kissed the master's head-nice tribute. He really seems like a nice guy when he's not overindulging. Plus he played his ass off with the great Jan Hammer and Tony Levin-fantastic!

  • eddie looks like he went on to star in lethal weapon after this show

  • not diggin tony levin here and holy shit could the keytar be any more 80s? evh in top form though

  • No doubt, Eddie is at a prime here, fresh, and the very best at hunting down the new sounds for rock I've ever seen. Truly artistic perfection here, alot of fun too. maybe I'am being a little bias, but my feet are still tapping and the song is over...... lol.

  • this is my favorite song ever, i heard this about a year ago. i wasnt a huge eddie van halen fan back then (lord forgive me), and the only song i knew was eruption. i saw a video of steve vai vs van halen, so i thought there was no way steve vai could beat eruption so i watched the vid. steve vai was crazy! i was like, no way eddie can beat that... then they put on cathedral. it was the most beautiful thing i have ever heard. RIP les paul, thank you for inspiring men like eddie.
