Two comments. Hitch brings up something that I've wondered about from earliest youth--What became of the millions of souls that lived BEFORE the coming of the "messiah"? A logical and reasoned answer never came.
And when, in this clip, he says for the first time, "This is madness." I got chills. Not because I never realized it wasn't madness, but his voice and the inflection therein shot to the heart of the matter like a well aimed and razor sharp arrow.
Now you see, I was not going to watch this because I knew basically what he would say but you DO learn something every time you watch Hitch. Who knew "thriven" was a word? LOL
Excellent and instructive comments about an astonishingly perceptive, powerful and yet wonderfully gracious man. I dread the deeply sad day I fear is not far ahead of us.
Don't know why people like this guy. He did a very poor job of representing the atheist position when he debated that creep WL Craig. He comes off as a bumbling drunken idiot in every video I've ever seen of him. There are much better representatives of the position... I don't know why he gets held so high...
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.

It's hard to imagine why anyone would want to step into the ring with Hichens and debate religion; and yet, the religious keep showing up and offering the same impuissant, feckless arguments and Hitchens keeps cleaning the floor with them. I wish there were more like him.
For one to believe that some god needs to be appeased by sacrifice for its own repeated mistakes, when it's described to be all loving and able, is a tribute to the power of the mind. A tribute to it's ability to fabricate nonsense, and have the individual believe it, and defend it till death, even in the face of evidence to the contrary.
great thing about being a philosopher, girl's buns will never get old. Reality you don't deny!

Christopher Hitchens rocks. His words will echo down through the centuries, as religion dies a slow, shambling death.

Excellent point. Worth repeating:
= Don't know why people like this guy. =
He contributes nothing original or interesting to any debate. Just states the obvious.

@mphello "Just states the obvious."
Yet, somehow, the people he debates are oblivious to the obvious.

@killerkerara That's the thing with arguing against religion. It's just too easy.
