  • From a coastie. I don't know the exact specifics of this case. When the CG gets a call of a vsl taking on water they launch the assests they feel appropriate to save lives, and assist. Being that it's a HH-60 Jayhawk it's most likely from Astoria and being that there are 2 47' MLB's I'm guessing they're from the MLB Station Cape Disappointment where they train on the 47's. So they probably were already out training hence 2 surface assests. Hope that answers your thoughts on why the CG responded.

  • I agree; looks like a major operation on the CG's part for a very minor problem. Unless the CG felt they needed the practice, they didn't need to be there. Why wasn't someone willing to tow the poor guy into the dock? From the looks of things he couldn't have been taking on *that* much water; he wasn't in immediate danger of sinking. Don't get me wrong- I fully support the Coast Guard; but that was a LOT of man hours & fuel burned for very little reason.

  • A Helicopter and (2) MLB's for this? I hope this guy was charged for what it costs to rescue him. Maybe next time his buddies can give him a tow to the marina.

  • i have been to station Garibaldi and seen both of thoes boats cool video

  • Cool video except you cut off the part where our boat took them in tow and all. :-)

  • For some reason this is funny!!

  • Awesome Vid.

Could you elaborate on how your buddies got in that situation, and what exactly was the USCG doing when they showed up?

I'm a Land-lubber and not too familiar with how things work at sea.
