In the Burn era one could see who wrote the songs. With the MKII always all members of the band got the credits.
This - rightly .- pissed Ritchie off. You can look it up on Youtube where Jon Lord is saying, that almost always Ritchie came up with the ideas for the songs.
Pink Floyd continued playing Roger Waters' songs without him, and Genesis continued playing Steve Hackett's and Peter Gabriel's material without them. Their material is part of the band's legacy, as with Blackmore and Deep Purple.
@5jerry1 Genesis after the leave of Hackett was not Genesis anymore- you know that - they became mainstream pop band. As much as I do love Purple since 40 years know their concerts are 100% predictable. No interaction between organ and guitar anymore. Morse never risks anything, he is not going for it. I appreciate that they are still touring but they have become their own musical box.
With the Floyd/Genesis reference, I was making the point that it's still the band that has that old stuff in their repertoire. I don't care for the Collins-era Pop of Genesis, and Floyd with Barrett and later Gilmour, is the real Floyd. I hate the idea that Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend still call themselves "The Who," but I get why they do it. Deep Purple has had a revolving door all along, but I was fortunate enough to see the "Perfect Strangers" tour in Pittsburgh. Untouchable!
P.S. You have made valid points about Morse and Airey. But the "Machine Head" line-up wasn't the original band, which didn't sound anything like anything after. And I thought the Hughes-Coverdale-Bolin era was a train-wreck.
@5jerry1 Nice comment. I agree 100%. We all are happy that Purple ist touring! - my point was only that that moody bastard Blackmore wrote most of the material. Other comments further below state that all members had been named on the albums; THIS was exactly the reason Blackmore got soure over. Came Burn the titles gave credit to those who penned them. Example Mistreated which is Blackmore Coverdale.
Morse does it well. The band no longer needs the man in black. The band has been happy and productive for the last 17 years without him. Speaks for itself! And No, I'm no Blackmore hater, I love him, but the last few years he was in the band he was an a**hole. Not only to Gillan etc. but even Lord, who always was his closest friend within the band.
The band is everything without him. Great musicianship, great performances, a healthy and happy band that is more productive that 1987-93. :) No need to talk shite. Go listen to Blackmore's Night please, so us true fans can enjoy some great hardrock without your whiningBlackmore left when you were in elementary school, it's old, get over it. He will never return. STEVE MORSE!!! <3
Look at the setlist.... 90% of the songs are the ones of Ritchie. The band isnt productice. The new stuff is shit and i don't say that because of Blackmore. It's not Deep Purple, it's rubbisch. Only 20% wants to hear the new songs......... Jon Lord left Purple because he didn't saw any future in the band with Morse.... That's the real point why he left...
Ritchie alone didn't create the songs. Look at the song credits, nearly every song is a group effort. Jon Lord left because of an injury and because touring scedule w. Deep Purple prevented his solo career. No bad blood between him and the band. Back in April he played with the boys in Tokyo again. Don't make up your own mind, read some Lord interviews before posting shite. Look at all your tumbs down. Fans consider your opinion as shite.
LOL, and you believe that Jon Lord left because of travelling. Bullshit, he left because he saw no future in the band. It's hard to believe that for you, of course, but I don't want to discuss longer with you, bye. And please don't put any messages in my channel.
Excellent without Blackmore. He doesn't ruin the great musicianship onstage with his grumpy mood and unpredictable guitardoodling. :) You have 'Slaves & Masters' era and Blackmore's Night for that type of crap.
Fantastic! I just wish the moron wouldn't ruin the start. this is easily one of the best songs off 'Perfect Strangers'. Gillan does it brilliant at the age of 64.
Downloaded an mp3 of the whole concert and he does it throughout the concert unfortunately. If you haven't found it already look for MrGatto80 on here. He's uploaded a cam shot video of virtually the whole gig in excellent quality.
Very... Very Nice !
