Ive posted this before but its appropriate for me to repeat. My sc bearings blew 5 monthes in and TRD warrantied and replaced the whole unit with a newer redesigned version that looks, sounds and performs different. They said the new one has stronger bearings, shaft and seals. Its shaft is wider and tapered on the ends with a machined finish, It has a very audible whine now hence the new bearings, and i now get a constant 7 psi which i feel in a lower rpm range.
@FekalMatters Exactly one year ago the exact same thing happened to me and the new S/C is improved. I have my old supercharger sitting in my garage and I'm thinking about installing new bearings into it etc. They charged me the full price just for a bearing issue to replace my supercharger. And now a year after the fact I'm understanding the actual problem. My ignorance in the past though.
Well, lets say I bought a Tc with the supercharger on it and for some reason it breaks. Will any other supercharger fit on the remaining parts of the trd one,?? like the bar, pipes, pulley ect ect
nope this is the only s/c for the tc. thet do make better replacement parts like aftermarket ceramic bearings and a new harden shaft (no homo) but if u need any of these parts let me know.
Where could i buy the replacement parts, or the bearing and seals.....im from puerto rico let me know please..i dont see any problems with s/c but just in case..i.. just bought my s/c yesterday
well they did discontinue it and the only ones left are the ones that havnt been sold. i always talk to the guys at my dealer and they always tell me the supercharger's for tC's are a problem cause of bad seals and bearings. they had like 4 of them in the shop being fixed.
its a recall they dont fix, they know they made a shitty s/c but yet say anything. and if u bring ur bad s/c to them, all they do is take off the whole s/c and replace it with a new one so it can happen again. if they were smart thet would have designed better bearings, seals, and shaft. too bad people on scionlife already disigned new ceramic bearings, seals, and shafts
The recall was because in 08 they remade the S/C with a "tamper proof" pully. Problem is, its not lol Too many people were finding ways around it. I've had mine for a year and a half and never had any problems.
