  • new wave, ska, power rock...all blended...nice cocktail...cheers!!

  • where can i download this live tour?

  • is this ska?

  • There is so much sick bass hidden beneath 80s Rush songs. Sometimes hard to hear on studio albums, but trust me. Beneath every synthy pop song Geddy is shredding. It is simply all he knows how to do.

  • Live @ Irvine Meadows 1984 was AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • What I would do to have been at this concert.

  • every time I listen to rush i wish I could have been born one of the three guys and had the pleasure to be in a great band!!!!

  • oh my fucking god that bass riff is EPIC !!!

  • @manowar8899 pretty hard to not say OMFG when you heaer Geddy play that bass line while dancing around like that. Just Fricking AWEsome!!!!

  • This is pure talent. No in-ear monitors, backing tracks, just pure skill peformed as good as studio live, if not better!

  • NEIL PEART!!!!!!!

  • The bass fill at 4:14 is sublime... man, such taste!

  • amazing the bass riffs geddy plays effortlessly while dancing around!!! Awesome!!!

  • luaaaar biasa....!!!!

  • They look like the'yre having a fucking blast. I love it.

  • utterly unique...yet merely alongside the greats of rock...

  • dat bass

  • shall alwayz endure......alwayz so close to perfection

  • These postings from the DVD kick ass in terms of the sound. Then again...Rush piped through a coffee can is still 10 times better than most of the other shit out there.

  • Awsome music this is talent

Im only 8 and i love rush!

  • You should be able to click like more than once on this song!!!! Perhaps a LOVE IT button????

  • "...it takes a little more persistance

to get up and go the distance"

That is the theme for my hometown

high school football team this year.

    Go Jennings High Bulldogs!!!

  • Neil was one omnipotent motherf**king rhythm master in '84!

  • 6 people are the enemies within

  • The guys define cool.

  • As a RUSH fan since 77, I have always beeen into their kickass live sound. I was fortunate enough to attend a GUP concert years ago. Awesome! PS Their studio recordings are stunning.

  • am i the only one who thinks this live version kicks the shit out of the original version??

  • How does Geddy Lee sing and play this at the same time??

  • I've been real into this song lately, just the overall sound and feel of it. Just one of a billion Rush hits!

  • Heh, nothing like the song of Hammerfall by the same name :) It's not bad either, although now what I was looking for ^^

  • i cant get the beat outta my head

  • any other band in the world, this song would have a smash hit in the 80s. love the drive of the song. the bass line is out of this world. phenominal 10/10!!

  • The PPG synth sounds so sexy.

  • It's literally impossible to stop bobbing your head while listening to this song.

  • Yes! Buy the DVD's! Put on the headphones - you'll hear all kinds of ear candy you never knew was there!

  • I just watched Geddy Lee duck walk. Life = complete.

  • I'd love to hear this song on the rumoured 2012 tour... :)

  • La medida es exacta a la del disco , rush son impresionantes...buenisimos. 10 stars

  • In 1984 this album pissed me off. In 2011, it is music to my ears!

  • How the fuck can he sing and play that bass line at the same time ?? Boggled Just Awesome

  • hey lautarosoad you go that right!!!

  • Miami Vice influence is evident

  • GREAT song. didnt like the album as much as other Rush albums, but this band was awesome

  • alex's hair... looks like he could be playing in a flock of seagulls!!!

  • love the great band from Canada, cheers!

  • Alex is new wave look! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! TIGHT!

  • damm this is to awesome my brain is burning!!

  • Gotta love Neil's Rattale :)

  • I thought I was a Rush purist until I saw this! I NOW LOVE GRACE UNDER PRESSURE <3

  • @wubbe well, to be a REAL Rush purist you have to appreciate all their sounds, included the ones from the 80s :)

  • @baddog255 You are of course so very very right. :) I've actually loved Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures for a long time, and I discovered Signals last year. What I meant I guess, was that I always went back to their earlier stuff like the first two albums. And now when I listen to those, It feels so basic compared to their 80's work (and their late late 70's work). My brother doesn't really like 80's Rush, he's more of a basics kind of type, but I absolutely love their 1979-1985 period!

  • Look at Geddy Lee, the ultimate multitasker. Singing while playing one of the most awesome bass riffs of the 80s? Check.

Hopping around crazily while playing one of the most awesome bass riffs of the 80s? Double check(more like double take).

  • I love that baseline! DO DO DO DO!

  • I love that baseline! DO DO DO DO!

  • i love alex's flock of seagulls haircut

  • i believe there are 6 dyslexics because they thought the dis like button said "i like dis"

  • His voice here is so indescribable; it has that high pitch we Rush fans love, but at the same time it's so smooth. Personally I think this is the best it sounds across his entire career.

  • @93ym Lee's voice here is okay, but nowhere near the power and pitch of all Rush releases up to and including Hemispheres. Then again, even if Lee somehow miraculously managed to maintain his crystal-shattering pipes throughout his career with Rush, could the band have still achieved worldwide fame with a singer that sounded like a mosquito? I think not. Lee HAD to tone it down in order for the band to obtain broad-based fan appeal.

  • @gorillabelly1 He also had to tone it down if he wanted to retain his voice ;)

  • @gorillabelly1i find this year where his best voice is lol. so rich :)

  • man they jive so well at the end, everyone groovin together... Damn they beat to the same drum

  • 6 dislikes? wtf.

  • nice easy song for alex to play, i love how he messes with geddy who has so much to do here!! brilliant :)

  • I've got a friend who's a fourth-degree black belt in Tai Kwon Do, and he's got a Neil rat-tale!

  • I'm going to see them for the 3rd time in two months: May 27th in Rotterdam!! Can't wait (or as we say in Holland: ik kan niet wachten!)

  • Geddy is a bass god. I love his groove.

  • I've never seen anyone else who can play bass like that. He's one funky dude... for bein a skinny lil jewish guy from Canada.

  • @kawi1167 amazing how effortless he plays the most awesome bass riffs while jumping around or singing, they all are the ultimate when it comes to musicianship, Damn, we need more groups like this today more than ever. Geddy is a very nice guy, met him in Chicago about 10 years ago, very humble and down to earth, unlike many of today's quote unquote artists.

  • god i love geddy lees bass lines

  • When's the last time Rush played this song live? I can't find any more recent videos.

  • @Jick769The GUP tour was the only tour they played this on. I don't remember it on later ones. Rush played it as part of their Fear Trilogy: Witch Hunt, The Weapon and Enemy Within. This is probably the only video of them playing this live. Get the Rush Replay DVD. It has this concert and it's a good one. Rush was hot the night they filmed the show. I mean Geddy is on fire in this song!

  • @Jick769 Thats what i'd like to find out. only see bootlegs from 1984. No later versions. Be good to hear what it sounds like today

  • :drools on sleeve:

  • Wow, hearing this really brings me back to when that album came out. Always loved this song and Kid Gloves. And GUP is hardly their worst album. It was a big change of an album for them and the band stated it was perhaps the hardest one they ever made. But I like its bleak mood. It fit the times.

  • To see them live is incredible. They are amazing musicians. Truly the best of their kind

  • great drums in the beginig too

  • awsome guitar in the beggining

  • 6 people are afraid of the enemy within.

  • Cracking song ! Perhaps Neil's best ever lyrics.

  • how can you not love this i feel sorry for all u "gangstas" out there who have been told :by the media what to listen to move over SHEEP this is ROCK AND ROLL!!!!

  • 318 likes and 6 idiots hahaha

  • you are right thompson,i usually never post, but i haven`t heard rush in a long time and they were my band and i hear this little worm talking shit and just want to smack him.serenity now serenity now,ok i`m good.i read someone say geddy`s parents or grandparents were in a concentration camp,i knew what the song was about, but i`m going to have to read up on that, also another great band i saw and haven`t heard in a while is triump, another power trio,i`ll listen now,lay it on the line, world of fan

  • dinglenutz, there is one other band that no one can imitate their sound,SUBLIME, god rest noel`s soul.they are awesome and who know`s what could have been, but there are great bands now too,foo fighters, dave rocks, incubus, lyrics like neil`s, alice in chains, metallica are sick, but most bands don`t and can`t stay together like they used to,except metallica.and foo fighters, they will be around for a long time, dave doesn`t make a bad album.but i really liked creed,nickelback,3 doors down,i `m stuck

  • when i was your age i wasn`t sitting around typing on a keyboard,i was out raising hell and getting some, you are feeble.and yes ,i would like fries with that, little homo, get a life,i`m so glad we didn`t have cell`s and computers, because we were never home,we were roaming, nomad ,vagabond, call me what you will.i hate little fags like you, enjoy life you little prick,it is way to short, turn off the computer &get laid.remember this, when i was 18 i knew it all,now i`m in my 30`s and don`t know shit c

  • rush rules, they were my first concert at the spectrum in philly,in`84,paid 11.00 ,laser show was awesome.who`s that little pudd who keeps knocking rush,i have scars older than you chump,i was born in `70 and the 80`s had bad hair and clothes, but some great music and some real shiit, but we had great times.i would really like to put you over my knee and smack the hell out of you.no one here is stuck in any stage, just remembering our youth, you are the one who is 14 and can`t get laid.lol get a girl

  • The first Rush's album I bought (an audio tape, in 1984, great era)…

    Memories…

  • Geddy is kicking that fretboards ass in the outro... just listen to that!

  • Only band I can think of where every song is COMPLETELY different from the rest.

Rush rules!! but we all know that hence why we are here.

  • @dinglenutzz Why are we here? Because we're here: Roll the Bones.

  • @TechTrouble Why does it happen? Because it happens, roll the bones XD

  • I'm not giving into security under pressure.

  • i wonder what rush from 1974 would think if they saw this video

  • @cliffburton333

    "Nice suits!"

  • LOVE the bass guitar - even the look of it is cool

  • without a doubt, Rush is the best band live ever. No other band can put out the sound Alex, Geddy and Neil combine to make. Only other progressive band that comes close to their sound is the Moody Blues when they were in prime, but they did not rock like Rush does. Honorable mention, Yes.

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO Idk, Jethro Tull had a huge live performance. They still do, but not as much as they did in the 70's and 80's.

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO There was also Yes in the 70's. Also with Pink Floyd in the 70's and Genesis when they had Peter Gabriel. But they also did good for a little while after he left.

  • the bass sound is so cool

  • One of my fav Rush songs.... I swear they sold they're soals to sound that good together.... like really?

  • Rush has never been one of my favorites, but DAMN I like this song.

  • @SamuraiBatgirl u shud listen more they will become your favorite..id be happy to reccommend about 50 or 60 great songs...some indescribable how good they r

  • They need to play the Fear series on one of their tours!

  • if geddy had a bubble, then alex was more than in it

  • Ladies and Gentlemans: Real Music.

  • @lautarosoad Stop glorifying Grace Under Pressure, it's Rush's worst album. Long live A Farewell To Kings

  • @hat6036 i love every single rush album, grace under pressure its awesome, moving pictures is a masterpiece and i specially love counterparts... you just cant diss on a rush album, every album has its own mood, but if you dont dig it, it doesnt mean its bad, i dig every album of Rush, one of the best bands of the earth, they are legendary, i love a farewell to kings by the way.. cinderella man and xanadu are my fave of that album.

  • @lautarosoad I never said it was bad, I just said it was their worst album. I'm just saying don't glorify it, it's dumb 80's album. Rush themselves have admitted that it's not very good.

  • @hat6036 yeah, its pretty much that, but to be honest with you dude, even a bad album has a good song in it, this song its my favourite of this album...

now, dont think i glorify it, cause i dont, its not my favourite rush album at all, and i agree, its not really that great, i still enjoy listening to it, specially this song.

  • @lautarosoad Yeah it's definitely still a good album, I like New World Man a lot

  • @hat6036 It says a lot about a band when their 'worst album' kicks this kind of ass.

  • @hat6036

Worse than Roll the Bones and Test for Echo?

  • @lautarosoad

    Well OK!

    lol

  • Peart's pretty amazing here. Never misses a beat.

  • This is rush in their freaking prime, Geddy Lee is pretty much the dude who inspired me to jump on bass and Neil Peart on drums. They're all too freaking awesome and this my friends is what we call mean mean pride!

  • Such energy in their instrument-playing... it's always a true pleasure looking at them perform, can't wait for Time Machine Tour Part 2 to see them again <'3

  • A polite request to the knobhead who insists on slagging off this band! Stop wasting yours and everyone elses time and do us all a favour........FUCK OFF!

  • To the idiot who keeps writing all that bullshit, if you really can't stand Rush, then really...why are you wasting your time and ours writing about it.....go listen to something you like, and leave the amazing writing and playing talent to those of us who can really appreciate it!!!

  • @edithbrassard "if you really can't stand Rush, why are you wasting your time and ours writing about it."

Why do you waste your time reading it? Or commenting on me and not your favorite band? Can't stand a little criticism? Or did you never grow out of that 14 year-old never-been-laid stage of your life?

"leave the amazing writing and playing talent to those of us who can really appreciate it!"

You have extremely low standards for that which you choose to call "amazing" or "talent."

  • @bapyou dude is not that he hasn't grown up, think about it; you're listening to a song by a band that you don't like at all, so why listen to their music at all? by saying Rush sucks, it just tells us that you really have no ear for music at all. Bro Geddy Lee has inspired many great bassists such as Les Claypool, Cliff Burton and Steve Harris, should I go on? Neil Peart is a respected drummer worldwide and Alekzandar's style is very influential in many bands nowadays they're not talentless!!!

  • @bapyou sir, why must you go onto a video of a band that has amazing musical talent and say they suck? if people like this band and you think they suck, you should keep your opinion to your self and not go on videos for this band and share your thoughts. if you don't like this band then go away.

  • I've seen this show in Montreal way back. One of the best show I ever saw.Great sound, great lighting and awesome musicianship

  • Everyone, just stop feeding this troll! Jeez! He just craves attention. Enjoy your music without paying any mind to the comment box. Minimize your window if you have to, or fullscreen the video. It doesn't matter what they think, just what you think. Please, stop fighting over this; there is no reason. For the love of god, I come on Youtube and all I find are idiots that are way too loud with their opinions, and idiots that feed the damned trolls! For god's sake. Just listen to the music.

  • one of the top bands of all time live, right here

  • when i die i want to be reincarnated back in the 80's as a rush speaker following them round on tours

  • Great song, wish they would add it to a future tour! Fan since 77.

  • Rush is the best! Geddy playin the bass like a god!

  • I saw them in Santiago (Chile). That was an excellent show. They are awesome!!!!!

    Thanks for that show.

Thumbs up if you were there!!!!!!!

  • This is my freaking favorite rush album!!!!

    c:

  • Favorite song!

  • What a great song in ska style. Marvelous.

  • Alex,Geddy and Neil. WOW!

  • Geddy should be thrown in jail for assault & battery for the way he abuses the SHIT out of those bass strings starting @3:56...LONG LIVE THE 3 WISE MEN OF WILLOWDALE !!!

  • @2112chrisd well if geddy is gonna get assault and battery, neil will probably get the death sentence (he does live in california now) for the way he brutally murders those drumheads and cymbals

  • @sabianrox1

Er... that'd be "assault with batteries" to quote Archie Bunker.

  • @2112chrisd Yeah Hes bad Ass

  • What a great tour this must have been, I agree its too good comment but I cant help myself!!!!

  • WHAT CAN WE SAY? SEEN RUSH 3 TIMES ON VARIOUS TOURS, MOVING PICTURES, ROLL THE BONES AND R30 MISSED THEM WHEN HERE ON SNAKES AND ARROWS, WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM AGAIN IN THE UK. FIRST ALBUM I BOUGHT WAS 2112 IN 1978 AND I STILL HAVE IT. HAVE EVERYTHING THEY HAVE PRODUCED, WITHOUT DOUBT THE BEST 3 PIECE BAND IN THE WORLD, STAGGERING MUSICIANS.

  • this song is so underrated

  • I wonder why they stopped using the white carpet. Maybe it was just too hard to keep it clean. lol

  • Rush & The Police. Gods greatest gift to Rock & Roll fans ever.

  • MARTHA QUINN..MARK GOODMAN..ALAN HUNTER..NINA BLACKWOOD..80son8@siriusxm.com........

  • Agreed. Too good for coments from any fool.

  • skaaaaaaaaa ska ska skaaaaa

  • I didn't knew that Geddy uses a Steinberger bass guitar, cool.

  • who thinks they should start playing this on their tours?

  • @seganerd89 i do

  • @seganerd89 me!

  • @seganerd89 coudn´t agree mora!! :-D

  • @seganerd89 Life would be complete. Love this song. :D

  • @seganerd89 DEFO

  • @seganerd89 i was thinking the same exact thing! i´ve been listening so much the 80´s Rush latetly, and there are some other songs that i would love to hear live like Countdown from Signals album, Show don´t Tell and also this one!

  • @seganerd89 I do

  • Fantastic

  • I think that rush sticks out to the type of man who is always searching in life. A trait which most rush fans seem to exhibit.

  • 0:39-1:00 LOL

  • own this shit why give me shit, wanna share...guess not with your shit

  • Is it true that the "Grace Under Pressure" tour was the only time this song was performed?

  • i love Geddys basslines. especially this one :)

  • awesome.

  • Im sick of this lady gaga bulshit this is alot better. bring back the 80's. long live mullets

  • @jcarterize LOL

  • @jcarterize

Bring back the 70's at least, without the mullet ;)

  • The best song live by Rush...

  • nobody is too good for comments. this was the album that made me fall in love with this band for life. Grace under pressure was the only good music that year!

  • @sherry0363 in my opinion, this is probably the best rush album, with moving pictures a close second. this is an album or cd that you just put on and enjoy from beginning to end without ever thinking about skipping a track. only other band that i can say that about is Pink floyd's Dark Side

  • @z06forme in my opinion, you half right. geddy is better than john paul jones, and neil is better than bonham. but alex and jimmy, i think jimmy is better and robert can sing better than geddy. but dont get me wrong this is my favourite band of all time and i like every band member more than anyone else

  • I remember going to this tour...WOW...I still love them now...as I did back then....RUSH rocks!!!

  • God these guys suck. Ha ha ha! What idiots.

  • @bapyou If you think so I fear the music you think is good!!

  • These guys blow. Anyone thinking they have any talent whatsoever, is sorely misled. There are thousands of musicians with more soul, heart, and intelligence than these idiots. Thousands. These idiots are a band for mastrubating teenagers. Anyone older than 15 who still likes Rush, needs to move out of Mom's basement. Thanks for the reply.

  • @bapyou You do realize that they have the most consecutive gold and platinum albums after the Beatles and Rolling Stones?? Have you "thousand of musicans with more soul, heart and intelligence" reached that?? Are they able to fill stadiums and sell records for over 40 years?? Maybe you should get out of your mom's basement!! No problem!

  • @Image4ever "You do realize that they have the most consecutive gold ... etc"

And? This only proves people will buy shit, eat it, and say it tasted good. Are the only criteria for what is good record sales and ticket sales? That's it? I've heard Barry Manilow sells out concerts too. Is he also yout favorite? By your "standards" the artistic worth of Robert Johnson is a fiction.

They suck, dude, Get over it. Listen to some real music

  • @bapyou Well, to what kind of music do you think I should listen?? Now I am really Curious as to what you think is good music!!

  • @Image4ever I'm not going to tell you what to think. Get a life. Get back to work, you jackass.

  • @bapyou i can't believe how close-minded you are. to say they don't have talent is wrong. i won't say anything bad about you, even though you just insulted all the rush fans out there. but please, learn to differentiate what's right from wrong.

  • @Philosnav Don't feed the trolls. Please.
