  • Love the music!

  • Looks so beautiful:D

  • I love Hki

  • Why couldn't I be born a Finn?

  • where is the place at 0:30 - 0:35?? Thanks

  • @pinkprincesscaren That would be the Sibelius monument, in the oddly named Sibelius Park.

  • Helskinki started out as the Swedish city of Helsingfors.

  • Helsinki

  • miten nämä Porvoon kuvat liittyvät Helsinkiin? .... :))) Be welcome!

  • @zeroaja *you're welcome :))

  • How do Finns feel about americans?

  • @Annnabef9 I think no one has same opinion about amerivans, there is maybe some who dont like americans but i think most of us does.

  • @Sirkusmar How do you feel about americans? :D

  • @Annnabef9 Well, i dont like american way to use their military in East, but i have nothing bad to say about normal American citizens i've met. :)

  • @Annnabef9 If ur foreign and speak English they'll be super polite no matter what nationality u are, from my experience. I live there, and my apparently 'hard to understand' English accent gets me some positive attention, especially from the ladies ha

  • I'm a swede and i wanna go to Finland agian !! and maybe even live there. I don't like what sweden today have become.. Can i speak swedish in Finland on a vecation trip in Helsinki? My mother is from finland maybe she can teach me some phrases to

  • @12345678909269 Swedish is finlands 2nd language, and helsinki is the place where most of the people speak swedish. So i think you could be fine with swedish, but its also good to learn english. Lots of the young people of finland speak perfect english

  • @ExpressGaming I know Swedish people who prefer to speak English to Finns cos thy don't like Swedish speakers apparently, it's the whole Swedish/Finnish rivalry thing. And yh, I agree, they do speak very good English!

  • @12345678909269

they make us learn the fucking language at school and you can speak it at every store and ever service.

but just to be sure learn english, even my 8 year old brother speaks it fluently thanks to tv.

  • Koti ikävä.. pohjanmaa on niin landee :(

  • Ramox3, USA is so much prettier than Finland... I live in Finland, and I want to go New York...

  • @jacksonfani95 Depends on what you like. I feel anguished even in Helsinki, from all the people and cars. I'd get mad in NY, though I would like to visit the States someday. But in finland, countryside FTW.

  • @jacksonfani95 I disagree, NY is so dirty, and i find the people are offten rude. I wouyld do anythnig to live in Finland!

  • @Annnabef9 You like Finland, it's nice :) I like too, but I'll want to live in New York, 'cause I love USA.

  • @jacksonfani95 have you vistited NY before? :-D

  • @Annnabef9 I have never been there :(, but I'll go there next summer maybe :D

  • @jacksonfani95 I hope you like it (: I love the european tourist they are so funny and nice. I have friends in helsinki, and they are all so nice

  • @Annnabef9 Of course! :) New York is so beautiful city<3 Waiting next summer :D

  • @jacksonfani95 Don't forget to buy pizza well your there, Ny has (in my opinion) the best pizza in the world. (: Can you sleep with lots of trafic noice?

  • @zombibombi62 actualy stockholm is bombed when russian needed bomb helsinki they miss caculaited it and acidentaly bombed stockholm...

i´m from fin we had this in our history lessons

  • Does anybody know why Helsinki and the rest of Finland is so underpopulated? Is it the weather?

  • @inturn23 Helsinki has population of 1,2 million people by the standards of the European Union. It isn't that small...

But yes, Finland is "underpopulated", there isn't that much folk here. It is only good though: it leaves much more room for individualism, and helps the state in providing our citizens free healthcare.

  • @OnlyLifeMatters Thanks for the reply.

  • @OnlyLifeMatters

I'm sorry, but the health care here in Finland is free only for kids younger than 17 years... for everybody else it costs...

  • @Mikey84 I actually am finnish and 18 years old, but I had the image that some of the public health care is more or less free (depending on case), while all major private health care is very expensive, but better quality.

  • @OnlyLifeMatters No. At least I have to pay every single time I use our public health care system. In past times the Finnish health care system has been completely free, but not anymore.

  • @Mikey84 You have to pay only three times per calendar year, if you have to use health care more, it is free after that. You could have also mentioned how much you had to pay (about 14€ per visit, right?). So it is quite insignificant amount of money compared the medical cost of lot of other places. The fee is there mostly to discourage people not to misuse the health care services and you don't even had to pay it right away because you got the bill.

  • @inturn23 Helsinki is underpopulated since when ?

  • thanks for uploading!

  • 1:25 that's where i'm from :D

  • Helsinki is the arsehole of Europe!

  • i plan to move to helsinki in 2011, i have lived in several countries on my own, and i've always been fine with my english (though indeed the older generations don't speak it) and been able to work etc, but i heard it is pretty much impossible to get a job in helsinki without speaking proper finnish, which could cause problems.. Does anyone know whether this is true?

  • @0706189b It is very big plus if you do speak finnish, but of course you can find youself a work from here, i think

  • @BfAPUN1SH3R I could not find summerjob becouse I speak swedish and sucks in finnish

  • @Idellle Mayby you should go to work in Graveyard? There you can listen music, and you just need to clean those leaves. There you dont need to speak finnish, and you get much money, better than from other summerjobs.

  • @BfAPUN1SH3R yeah.. but there where like 10000 searcher for that job and I was not fast enough

  • @Idellle Try again much much earlier :)

  • at least basics and then you get to drive bus in suburb and deal with frustrated clients when you can't find the bus stop....

  • @0706189b No, it's not really true. Here's why: I know more than several Spaniards that don't speak anywhere near proper Finnish and they're working, eating, dressing and living pretty well in Helsinki. They said all they needed was networking in their profession, references etc & enough Finnish to get around. I guess it just depends on what profession you're in. The only down side there is to Helsinki is that it's underpopulated, which could mean bad economy in the long run.

  • What is the song?

  • Suomi on paras maa maailmassa ja vielä ruotsi on paskiaista :D

    Hyvää Suomi!

  • so damn beautiful!!!!!!!!!

  • i live in Tampere, finland

  • Even though the theory of being related to Finnish is untrue,- I know, if it must Hungarians would die in a war for protecting Finland.

  • @buignerry That is really nice, thank you :) I'm sure we would do the same.

  • The best place in the world!

  • I love helsinki. It's my home (: But i still wish i could live in London or something...

  • @Taylorfanification I am about 40 minutes from London but I would LOVE to live in Helsinki or ANYWHERE in Finland!

  • Moi. I'm from London and went to Helsinki last July. It was awesome. I'm going there again next March. Can you please tell me what the weather will be like in March? Thanks.

  • @Goatlord1970 I don't know but for now it has been warm- 30 degrees C and sushine ;) it can change thought :p

  • @LittleRainbowMiss Thanks. I'm going to transfer my flight to July. I want to enjoy the summer.

  • @Orgrinn I know a little bit of finnish but its pretty much tourist quality, i havent studied on it in ages.

actually, ma native is russian, but finnish is my dream =)))

  • mistäs moinen tuomio?

  • Cant wait visit to europian countries!

  • I heard from my friends that the prices of commodities in northern europe is extremely expensive, is the double of western europe

I guess many of you always get very high salaries.

  • Not only are the prices higher, but from what I've read multiple times, their salaries are much higher as well.

  • all u2 lovers will pacefully invade Helsinki in August ;-) we are marching on ! great music in a wondeful city!

  • wow~~what a beautiful place, I only went to a europeon's city for few times

  • Nice slide show! Helsinki is beautiful city! I really want to go back!!

  • Is it possible to go there without speak in any finish?

My boyfriend and I are talking about going next year after we get married for our honeymoon. It's so beautiful, and he's always wanted to go to Finland.

  • Yes it is possible, tho its alot of differences where you go in here. I'm from finland myself, and if you just go to helsinki, i think your going to be just fine. Helsinki is about 10-20% of foreigners. The utility is on english, so thats why it makes it to be so easy in there. However if your planning a trip out of city or Huge cities like Helsinki, prepare for your nightmare. Not many people know it, actually Adults dont know english at all, unlike us, teens.

  • Thank you so much for all the information. Maybe I should study some finish before heading that way, Just to be safe. But thank you again. I'm very excited to come see such a beautiful place.

  • I suggest you to come at summer, its best that way, in the huge cities. But if you want to go country, its beautiful at winters. If you want to ask something else, i can help you best i can. So dont hesitate to ask.

  • You don't have to speak finnish. Finns speak pretty good english. Finland is a great place... at least I love it! =) If you decide to come in winter time you must go to northern Finland! The snowy landscape and the northern lights are something you must see!

    Thank you= kiitos

    Hello= terve

    good bye= näkemiin

    yes= kyllä

    no= ei

Now you know some finnish! =)

  • @jorma123456789 Yes... I'm from finland

  • quite nice.........

  • i really wanna move to finland ,i hate China

can u tell me what is the name of this song ,who sing this beautiful song ?

  • this song is "Do you want to go somewhere" by Richard Buckner

  • Thx :D

  • 1:50 <--- That's Porvoo?

  • @0ltsuboy

    Yes I think that it's Porvoo :)

I wasn't Porvoo but I sad it in book about Finland and on this photographs was the same houses :)

  • nice photos!

check out my slideshows about Helsinki!

  • I WANT TO LIVE THERE!!! I love Finland! I love how it is managed, i love the peace and quite. Here on Balkans is so loud, I wanna be on some peacefull place for a change ;)

  • Nice Video. Shows more or less all important spots in Helsinki.

  • I love helsinki!!! But i had to move:'(

Now i can go there once in year :'(

    I miss helsinki

  • I left my heart there

  • I LOVE this city ! Been there two times allready and will return many times ! Love Suomi ! :) (I'm from Belgium)

  • I have been in Helsinki several times and I like it very much, but I have never been in Stockholm, where I want to go so much....

  • I'd like to argue, I went to Stockholm and Helsinki in July, Helsinki is by far the more interesting city particularly for younger people. Stockholm was nice if you're over 50 but Helsinki was better. We all said we wished we'd spent all the holiday in Finland and left Sweden for another time.

  • ok luv, what was so interesting in helsinki?i just really want to know it!and btw all younger ppl i know can t compare these two cities, may be you couldn t discover stockholm fully, then you should visit it again with some nice guide!

  • Helsinki has mid-european, south-european, Russian and Finnish architecture in it, when Stockholm has mid-European and Swedish architecture. You could say that Helsinki is richer culturally. Stockholm hasn't been bombed by endless fleets of aircraft. Neither Stockholm have been a major battlefield and war zone in Civil War. Helsinki has experienced both. So, in addition to it's cultural connections to both Swedish and Russian empires, it has a story of it's own to tell. Helsinki is versatile.

  • @Zombibombi62 Well - while I like Helsinki I think if you ask people outside North Europe I bet over 90% would say that Stockholm is the more beautiful city - and by the way - battlefield and warzone aside - Stockholm overall has the far greater historic significance! - Helsinki is a great city and for sure there are many people who love it most, but be realistic - Stockholm is definitly the more important and also more interesting city for most from outside. - But yes - Helsinki is great.

  • @fwbz Importance can vary, of course. Helsinki has been the city where EU treaties have been made, and also Strategic Arms Reduction Talks have been hosted there. Stockholm is way out of Helsinki's league in terms of history and inter-european dynasties, as Helsinki doesn't truly have neither. But arriving to Helsinki from sea is like arriving to some ancient roman or hellenic city, since great majority of Helsinki's architecture is neo-classical. And I'm "Zombibombi62" btw, my account was blown

  • @OnlyLifeMatters Well I have studied architektur :-) So Helsinki has nothing to do with some ancient roman or hellenic city, because its dominating style seems to be Classicism in the way of Karl Friedrich Schinkel -and that looks quite different. But - Classicism is also a great style and Helsinki is well know for its pur classicistic buildings in the center - and thats great of course. So you can be glade to have such a nice capital, but the Swedes also can.

  • @fwbz Well of course! I just visited Stockholm,it was pretty outstanding city really.Even though the "kungliga slottet" looked like a box from outside,it was really beautiful from inside and "from behind".And overall, all the administrative buildings in the vincity of the king's castle were nice.

Yeah, and for Helsinki it isn't exactly "hellenic" or "roman", but I guess that you understand that I utterly was talking about some sort of ancient spirit :D even though they were built in 1800's

  • @OnlyLifeMatters Yes I of course understand, what you meant. But for me Helsinki has a neo-classical spirit, but this is of course something good ;-)

  • @Zombibombi62 A lot incorrect, Stockholm has been in it's many wars but not been devasted the lost couple hundred years, I would also say Stockholm has MUCH richer culture and foreign influences thanks to much more foreign immigrants where Helsinki have pretty less of compared to Stockholm. But I agree Helsiniki have a lot of Russian influences but mostly Swedish since it has always been a Swedish city right before the Swedes lost a war against Russians. Is it really called civil war for Finl ?

  • @roxpace Shows how much you know if you didn't know there was a civil war in Finland in 1918 that has nothing to do with the Finnish War of 1809.

  • @roxpace - Helsinki had few thousand people when it was taken by the russians in 1809, barely a town - the fortress those days was probably the most city-like part of it. Not so many buildings date from that time. Many buildings built after that, have been made with swedish style, with mid-european and classic influence, like found in swedish architecture, too. Don't know the point in arguing about the beauty of a city vs another, + people everywhere take influence from neighbours and fashion

  • @roxpace "Is it really called civil war for Finl ?" No, the freedom war or civil war was 1918. Where did you get that tnformation? All cities have influences elsewhere. In Helsinki old town the most important architect was Johan Carl Ludvig Engel, who was a german and the style is neo-classic. And that style was in favour in many cities at that time. The dome has in fact many similarities to one church in Berlin.

  • europe is much prettier than the states ... we live in a shithole

  • In USAs head of country is only interested in money ;P

  • @Ramox3 Im glad you agree with that :D I would never move to USA even because of a job.

  • @Ramox3 Come to Europe! To Holland hehe xD

  • @Ramox3 Hey watch it. The States has really nice places that no other places has: let's see, Beverly Hills, San Fransico, NYC, the Grand Canyon, Florida & it's beaches & it's Miami cutler shock, should I continue? I mean, are you kidding me? Shame on you for underestimating this great nation that is full of unique places.

  • There was some footage from my hometown Porvoo/Borgå thx :D

  • Jeg elsker helsinki

  • I don't need to know them personally to know that in fact they seem to be from romania. Theres been quite a lot of talk about them when they came over and when interviewed, the beggars have said their country of origin to be romania. every single time.

Although i wish they were out of the streets i have absolutely nothing against romanians as a nation and i believe every finn (apart from few morons) shares my opinion

  • An ugly civilisation lmao?. The Finns are beautiful and intelligent but above all GENUINE i.e they don't churn out a lot of false crap just to ingratiate themselves, talk to them intelligently and you'll get an intelligent reply (maybe that's where you were lacking). Helsinki has the most breathtaking scenery I have ever witnessed.

From the UK (but wishing I was back in Finland).

  • indeed.. it's sad how often other people think of finnish people as stereotypic alcoholics and such... sure there are exactly those rednecks and other.. though people like them are in every country... but all and all finland is pretty good country to live, good public services and free health care.. though the taxes are high but that's just to keep up those services

  • Finland is a good country to live and work (unemployment, though, during the present recession is more than 9% and according to estimations will rise up till 10,5 % in few months) The summers are lovely, if it is not raining endlessly, Helsinki is a fantastic summer city, but when autumn comes, it is not the best place ever... However, the bus comes at my busstop every 6th minute, so won´t need a car. I like that.

  • Clean, efficient, and boring. The kind of place where people watch the traffic lights change colour for entertainment.

  • clean, efficient and could be boring. the kind of place where some boring people watch the traffice lights change colour for entertainment, others not.

  • Very nice town! Very beautiful and clean nordic town. Only people stick to them selves, but that's OK.

  • Yeah. That is true. But we should´ve more people in our country... That´s the reason, why Finland is boring in some way.

  • We can give you our Russians. I guarantee - no more boredom. How much do you want?

  • High poverty and crime? LMAO. Take a look at your own country first. Those beggars (learn to spell your mother tongue as well) are a problem in pretty much every major European city at the moment.

  • a) the beggers aren't finns, they are romanian people who come from romania TO beg here and that has absolutely nothing to do with Finland or high poverty and crime.

    b) what high poverty and crime?!

  • oh, your channel explains everything.

  • Kynsipoliisi is absolutely right. I live in Helsinki and know it.

  • Tennessee44444 U fucking hillbilly, go fuck your dad and sisters. Nobody gives a shit about u- or tennessee. Nobody wants to live there, only u. LOL Ive never visited that shithole cuz it sucks so bad. Helsinki is the bomb u lil fuck. Greetings from New York.

  • You don't know what you're talking about. Yes there are some beggars from romania who came over recently but they're not finns really. They are just looking for better future in the glorious capital, helsinki

oh and theres a LOT less crime than in the states.

I bet you haven't even been to helsinki
