Destruction of Tasmania's Tarkine Forest: one of the largest tracts of untouched cool temperate rainforests

and mature mixed forests in the world is being trashed. What ever does not make it to the woodchip mill, all the understory diversity is being burned in the next burning season.

All this under the Australian Forestry Standard and the international PEFC.

What a shame.

Here we have a rainforest that has been clearfelled. The forest here is myrtle, sassafras and leatherwood, on a few dry spots a few brown top stringy bark trees grow, but the majority of the forest is Rainforest.
