  • What a great song. I have great memories of catching Rene Geyer's concerts in the local pubs in Sydney. I love her voice and the way she sings a song with 100% commitment. She is great live and I mean to catch her again when she performs in Sydney next.

  • the movie doesnt portray what happens in maori society alone but that which happens on a global scale.

  • @kumarabro So true! Maori people are gentle & beautiful. It is like that other violent movie.. Once were warriors, I think it was called. That could be in any social community. I hear you. All the kiwis's I know are gentle giants........

  • @sexyrexysexy tika te korero kare, we are a graceful people

  • I love this song too... i'm a maori & it took me 2yrs b4 i could watch Once Were Warriors. It was so true to life that movie, cos i been there, & i BAWLED my eyes out :'( I have never watched it again & wouldnt watch the 2nd one!!

  • @starsh57 You need to watch the sequels as they portray a realisation by Jake that his life is a mess. Once Were Warriors was so accurate that many people in the audience didn't believe that life was like that for some. I had a neighbour just like Jake and gave him an ultimatum - stop, fight me, or move. I got sick of calling the Police early in the morning and them really doing nothing. He never broke her legs so why didn't she just walk?

Two good legs - walk away to the Woman's Refuge!!

  • YESSS! This sounds so SWEET! i checked into those other versions & they are gross imitations of Renee's golden child. Honestly if u havent heard them do yourself a favor & never do. • not trying to be mean but.....do u always take things personally?

  • i don't, and didn't ;)

  • believe wat u wnt.

    sori if i sounded bitchy.

  • @groovlyfe it's just a movie, they never made it to portray maori in this way, that was never their intention it was just a good story so get over it. i myself am maori but was never offended when this movie came out
