  • Isosceles: means 2 equal sides homie. NOT triangle.

  • This is the platform I learned in the USMC; however, they taught us to place left thumb vertical over the right thumb. I have since been practicing this instructor's method of thumbs "in parrallel", because it allows more hand contact with the pistol in order to place faster and more accurate rapid fire rounds on target. Police use the Weaver stance a lot, but most likely in order to move easier while aiming and firing.

  • @SGTSnakeUSMC Crossing thumbs is a sure way to screw up the trigger squeeze.

  • Great video! As a new shooter, I've loved each of these demos. Thank you!

  • Isosceles is a triangle with 2 equal sides.

  • I have trouble shooting Isosceles because I'm double jointed in my elbows. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what stance do you use?

  • Isosceles is useful when wearing body armor and even then a modified weaver can also be used when wearing body armor. Practice till you get it wrong.

  • that guy in the video looks like one of the characters from ncis LA.

  • Not to mention the trillions we spent on enforcing prohibition even though it has blatantly failed at doing anything but harming the country.

Think about how much a trillion dollars is, just think about that for a second and what that money could used for.

  • My two cents on gun control and prohibition:

Wake up, prohibition has never worked, it will never work, and it will always be impossible to enforce.

Prohibition doesn't stop people from getting illicit guns and drugs, it just creates gangs to sell them, while bloodthirsty commercial trafficking groups gain profit.

It costs $40,000 annually to keep one person in prison, and currently are prisons are OVERFLOWING with people in there for doing things that effect NO ONE but themselves.

  • In an isosceles triangle, two sides are equal in length.

  • press F5 to skip ads

  • "Isosceles, I believe means triangle" Me thinks someone failed geometry!! hahahaha!!!

  • good shit

  • This guy would make a good front man.

  • guys he never said he likes this stance

hes just showing it so you know what it is

  • Lobo sadly portrays a certain stereotype of ignorance. I'd love to see him consistantly hit a target while say... jumping or running. y'know. since foot placement doesn't matter.

  • @lvcsslacker not wanting to be an arsehole, but I will tell you one thing that has stuck with me from 'ghan

In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived

  • you do have a point... and you have every right to be an asshole to a punk like me. Just expressing a view, that's all. :)

If I recall, I think I was more referring to just target shooting, not so much combat. Two completely different there.

  • @LoboNegroGrande I also read The Gunslinger and played Virtua Cop. High-five, duder.

  • Isosceles is good for using the full protection of your body armor while the weaver makes you a smaller target.

  • I don't agree that the Isosceles is not a good platform for "moving" or on the move shooting. I shoot competitively, more specifically I shoot IPSC and that is the only stance 98% of competitive shooters use. And in IPSC, that is all we use, and we are known for "run and gun". This guy does not know what he is talking about.

  • Give the guy a break...it is used in competition because it is an easy to master stable shooting platform. You can hardly compare run and gun with a real life scenario... no one is shooting back at you, and yes that makes a world of difference. I've watched many pistol matches and with the rapid movement they are usually only partially in an isoceles.... they frequently have one foot out of position ready to move to the next. There is no need to be so condecending... it's a beginner video.

  • for youre information, this man is a state trooper,so right away you are proven wrong aristotle.

  • Yes he does know what he's talking about. He was describing the traditional isosceles stance whereas you're talking about the modified isosceles stance. Very big difference between the two in terms of mobility.

  • I believe its also labeled as the competition stance.

Like the guy said its a personal preference.

  • Very informative! Thank you for posting these videos!

  • Input: In switzerland every male adult is obliged to serve in the military and gets to take his automatic assault rifle home after service, which he may keep for the rest of his life (SIG 550 for those who wondered). And aside the loose gun laws and the fact that 1/5 of the population if not more keep a select fire weapon "under their bed" we have relatively few crimes committed with firearms - even less so with military arms!!! (mostly husband-shoots-cheating-wife-type-crimes)

  • my goodness, this video is about pistol shooting stances, not gun violence.

I do use the isosceles stance for shooting. It provides the most stable and fastest platform shot good shooting.

  • it's a complete and total no-brainer.

countires with stringent firearm laws have MUCH LESS firearm violence. END OF STORY

  • That's bullshit. Handgun crimes rose by 40% in England AFTER guns were banned. "The Centre for Defence Studies at Kings College in London, which carried out the research, said the number of crimes in which a handgun was reported increased from 2,648 in 1997/98 to 3,685 in 1999/2000." That's straight from the BBC News website. The ban started in 1997. Like I said before, you're an idiot. Criminals don't give a shit about laws. They will continue to use guns against us. =yb3tsyZ-Uhs

  • @XITroll13 But then you go to Canada, where there are far more guns than in the USA and you find the crimes rate is way lower than that of the US. Whatever you say, it's not normal that a developed country suffers from such a hight rate of crime.

  • @o0Condrag0o You have a good point but to correct you there are not more guns in canada maybe per person the rate is around the same but in Canada there are mostly non restricted hunting rifles. To get a handgun and guns like an ar15 you need a restricted licence as well as an ATT in order to bring it to a designated range. The irony is that the more Canada restricts guns its not preventing crime its just shifting it from more shootings to more stabbings/other weapons.

  • @o0Condrag0o

That desn't sound right. I thought the U.S. was one of the most armed countries with 9 guns for every 10 people. Canada can't be anywhere near that.

  • @South197 Nope there are only 90m civlian owned weapons thats about 1/4.

  • @XITroll13 there is no total firearms ban in UK only 'short firearms' which only applies to the mainland!

  • @hardman476 "only 'short firearms' which only applies to the mainland!"

"Handgun crimes rose by 40% in England"

    "only 'short firearms'" "Handgun crimes"

"only applies to the mainland!" "in England"

    So?...

  • @ihaterobbie123 are you thick or somthing ?? or is your education shit??? seriouly 'mainland is england'??? is the united states mean only wanshington?? google united kingdom then come back to me with that one

short firearms not only pistols but also carbines

ps. Northen island also had CCW permits until recently

for fuck shake do your research before you commenting

  • @hardman476 I'm from Scotland you fucking moron. If a there is a ban affecting "mainland" UK then when XITroll13 uses data from England and you shout about how the ban only affects the mainland you look like a bloody idiot.

Same reasoning with handguns, they're short firearms, you come across as stupid again.

N.I. gave ccw permits to less than 1000 retired policemen until recently (i.e. virtually nobody could get one).

  • @ihaterobbie123 tosser from jockland:- a few points the ban on short firearms only effects england, wales, scotland, not the rest of the UK 2) short firearms does not only mean handguns; as i said carbines such as 5.56mm ar-15s, mp5 and they clones for example and saw off '/ short barrel shotguns

although the object of the 97 act was to outlaw handguns, it never used the word 'handgun' when defining what was to be a phrohibited weapon subject to sextion 5 controls

  • @ihaterobbie123 thus handguns per say are not banned just ones that fall below the legal barrel and overall length, so one could apply to have on his firearsms ticket a long barrel revolver in .44 magnum to keep at home so long as the barrel is altleast 12inches long and with a wrist brace !! and yes you could still concel it with a long jacket as well!

  • @hardman476 Yeah, I'm sure criminals started holding up shops with revolving telephone poles. If you're not already aware a stock has to be permanently attached to all handguns with the exception of percussion firearms.

Look, from a practical point of view the legislation did ban handguns that criminals would use and that's what the original poster was referring to. What happened afterwards was a crime wave in response to which the public demanded more regulation.

  • @ihaterobbie123 not a stock, but a wrist brace

  • @hardman476 It's one or the other, I've never met a pistol shooter who uses a wrist brace.

  • @XITroll13 I haven't seen the figures myself, but I've always believed that the law here in the UK that we cannot carry any object, even a pepper spray, which is intended for use as a defensive weapon only really serves to put innocent victims at a disadvantage, as the crims will have a gun or knife if they want one. Every house has a kitchen, and every kitchen has a whole selection of killing tools, as with garages, etc. The rest of us just have empty hands. I'm glad it's not just me who sees!

  • @XITroll13 that reminds me of something my dad always says. "if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns."

  • @XITroll13 I agree banning firearms is retarded. What needs to be done is proper regulation and actual regulation. None of that bullshit "this musket fires a 78caliber it's now an assault weapon!" or other retarded things. Like california, fucking went to a senate bill meeting, but only for sb798, the previous "suggestions" to ban certain calibers was completely retarded. California's regulations is ass backwards and doesn't help at all >:(

  • Hey, I have an idea. Why don't U put that freakin handgun to your freakin head and pull the freakin trigger? One less handgun NUT to worry a/b! Remember, GUNS dont kill PEOPLE, PEOPLE kill PEOPLE.

    WE DONT NEED HANDGUNS

WE NEED TO REPEAL THE SECOND AMENDMENT (which was passed in 1791!!!) and end this lunacy

  • You are misinformed. Repealing the second amendment would only disarm law abiding citizens and leave guns in the hands of criminals who owned them illegally to begin with. This, in turn, causes crime rates to rise. It's been proven time and time again. Keep your sophmoric thoughts to yourself.

  • OK, Einstein, but I will do everything I can to deny your "right" to own a gun, only because I don't trust your dumbass, and I want to preserve my life. Can you make it easy for us all, and die right now, please?

  • People with legal guns help to preserve your worthless ass from criminals who don't give a shit about gun laws. Those are the people with guns that you should fear, not your neighbor that has a permit and has his weapon registered.

  • Damn right man. This happened in England. After guns were banned, the crime rate actually went up, drastically.

  • Read this and shut the fuck up STUPID:

"The overall homicide rates per 100,000 (regardless of weapon type) reported by the United Nations for 1999 were 4.55 for the U.S. and 1.45 in England and Wales"

  • and this DUMBFUCK:

In 1998 (the most recent year for which this data has been compiled), handguns murdered:

    373 people in Germany

    151 people in Canada

    57 people in Australia

    19 people in Japan

54 people in England and Wales, and

11,789 people in the United States (suicides not included)

  • I see that you conveniently leave out countries like Russia, Columbia, and Jamaica that have very strict gun control laws and homicide rates that are much higher than what the US has. You also conveniently did not mention Switzerland and Saudi Arabia which have very loose gun control laws as well as some of the lowest crime rates in the world. Why are you being so dishonest?

  • @brodybear83 Russia has strict gun laws?I've seen news reports of Russian civilians buying more guns. And they interviewed a Russian civilian with 90 guns.

  • @Humberto4790

Very regulated? Lots of rules? Yes. Strict? look it up and be the judge.

  • @Humberto4790 90 guns isn't much I promise.

  • @brodybear83

Look just in the US. Vermont has NO gun laws. You can go into a gun store, buy a .357 Magnum, stick it in your belt, and walk out. Take a guess what Vermont's crime rate is like. New Hampshire is almost as good. You need a permit for CC, but otherwise, you walk in, buy your hardware, and walk out. Take a guess what NH's crime rate is like. Need I go on?

  • Exactly. Guns DON'T kill people. People kill people. That's not confusing...

  • Exactly!

    Right!

And if you will permit me to borrow the same logic, U R A FUCKING USELESS WANKER SHITFACE

  • You're and idiot. Get the fuck out of my country you piece of shit. You're not an American if you want to repeal ANY of our rights. You said it right though. Guns do not kill people. People kill people with or without guns. Guns just give the rest of us law abiding people the chance to defend ourselves against the people that don't care about the law. Criminals will get guns whether they are banned or not. THEY DON'T CARE, ASSHOLE. They would love for us to not have guns to defend ourselves.

  • Isosceles means triangle LOL

expert village... wow seriously shit village lol

  • Isosceles does NOT mean "triangle", douche. It means "having two sides equal". Go back to your geometry class and ask your teacher to tell you about the isosceles trapezoid. ZOMG!!11!11 Did I just blow your mind with that??

  • better than w.e he said lol. And yes I know that? The fact you have to state that is pretty sad man.

  • well done , clear and concise.

    jdwood

  • Nice video, thanks.

I have a question, is the purpose of this stance to have your body armor face your enemy?

  • drummerxp: Roger.

  • yep
