We young Europeans made fun of our parents who have lived the deprivations of WWII. My dad for instance used to store coffee and sugar and rice... His generation has lived 4 years of Nazi occupation. But as time went by I understood that shortages do happen even in the best of times, that it's wise to prepare because there will always be strikes, heavy snow, floods, earthquakes, etc... The government has really backed a lot of people into a corner. The people that have hijacked our government have forced people into becoming dependent. The gov has ran off all the manufacturing jobs, have regulated everything into ground and really have given people no option. People in America have also gotten soft. People in the USA used to be able to fix their own cars, do home improvement, and grow vegetables. Most people cant even get out of their own fecal matter. Its really sad.

I'm not sure that investing in a 401k can be considered "rugged individualism". Likewise, your investing financially in private companies and expecting a return is hardly different from American citizens investing financially in their gov't and expecting a return. The greatest difference being that the US gov't is ostensibly democratic, and the "returns" we desire from it often go beyond mere monetary profit.

We had some people who had health problems or had been injured at work and just needed help for a short amount of time. The elderly are on Medicare, not welfare and handicapped people receive other benefits and that's fine. You need some education my friend.

So how do we get out family members to elevate being prepared and trained in the priority list? I have a sister that bought a gun and got her concealed permit but doesn't go to the range very often so she can be proficient. Fortunately other family members are on board but I'd like them all to be.
I wish I had the spare funds to have that much put away. I can see the writing on the wall but I'm trying to get by on the needs of today, with not much leftover for the needs of tomorrow. Ironically, the reason why we have to prepare for tomorrow is the same reason I'm having trouble meeting both today's immediate need and planning for tomorrow's.
Nice vid. I and some others I know have been prepping for awhile now. One thing about your kit though, you have too many battery type items. Batteries wear out after awhile and are heavy to pack out if you need to move. Flashlights / Radio's with power cranks and solar generating plates are the way to go. And lots of cash to buy stuff!!! Although you can setup a decent kit for pennies as well.
@AetiusPraetorian haha, lots of cash to use for toilet paper! I agree with the battery statement though. Fine if you have a lot of batteries but try carrying enough with all the ammo and guns too. There are pretty decent AA and AAA solar battery chargers out and NiMh's nowadays don't drain as fast as they used to when not being used. I also stick with lights and gadgets that use either AA or AAA none of those fancy CR battery types.
We had regional power outages due to an ice storm for 17 days. I had camping equipment, kerosene heaters, filled gas tanks, sleeping bags, coleman cooking ranges and emergency water. We had a fellow freeze to death in a coat with his arms around a cold hot water tank. It still breaks our heart the old fellow did not get found in time. Mom was evacuated with us after the electric meter was pulled off her house. 3000 poles were down. We were lucky compared to many. Candles help.
Good to know there are still Americans who are like this guy . Most people have forgotten and take things for granted. They will be freaking out when shit hits the fan. This man will stay calm and handle it well. Good for him.

being in agriculture the last thing i want to do is come home and work on my garden haha. however i do know how easy it is for foods to be destroyed. hug a farmer is right.. all it takes is one good freeze, a invading insect/pest, earthquake, or even that slight change in temp and you'll see fruits n veggie prices explode/even disappear off the shelves. i know how to cultivate, i try and be self reliant. both you (scotch) and nutnfancy have slapped me in the face bc i was blind but now i see!
can you go over some of the things you put in your emergency stuff. ie food, water, where you get it, what i should know. im 17 and will be moving out in a few years and i want to start putting some stuff together. starting with first aid kit and bug out bag. then iu will move to bigger things like large supply of food

Foods is not going to get cheaper!. Putting away enough to keep your family tummy full for a few months is justs needed. PPl will not learn from katrena. If all the ppl there had a little put the side. It wouldnt have been as bad on them. I dont care where you live. Stuff can happen. If nothing Happins. You well eat well in your old age.

Zombies hate preppers , yeah I ride the subway with them everyday, seriously! at least 50% are glued to there "mobile device" blocking foot traffic , almost getting hit by cars etc. addicted to technology that could disappear in an instant. These zombies are rood , they litter, cut people off , trash forests and there cities etc. In Chicago where I live I've seen blood spilled on the sidewalk , vomit , garbage , wasted food. I could go on and on, but the point is this is not even WROL!!!!!!

Sootch you are awesome, but the thing is food is all around us! Did the pilgrims have freeze dried food? I don't think so. I think educating yourself on the edible foliage in your area is VERY important. Also knowing how to clean game is also very important. Thanks for the videos,and STAY READY!

I wish I had the spare funds to have that much put away. I can see the writing on the wall but I'm trying to get by on the needs of today, with not much leftover for the needs of tomorrow. Ironically, the reason why we have to prepare for tomorrow is the same reason I'm having trouble meeting both today's immediate need and planning for tomorrow's.

Nice vid. I and some others I know have been prepping for awhile now. One thing about your kit though, you have too many battery type items. Batteries wear out after awhile and are heavy to pack out if you need to move. Flashlights / Radio's with power cranks and solar generating plates are the way to go. And lots of cash to buy stuff!!! Although you can setup a decent kit for pennies as well.

@AetiusPraetorian haha, lots of cash to use for toilet paper! I agree with the battery statement though. Fine if you have a lot of batteries but try carrying enough with all the ammo and guns too. There are pretty decent AA and AAA solar battery chargers out and NiMh's nowadays don't drain as fast as they used to when not being used. I also stick with lights and gadgets that use either AA or AAA none of those fancy CR battery types.

We had regional power outages due to an ice storm for 17 days. I had camping equipment, kerosene heaters, filled gas tanks, sleeping bags, coleman cooking ranges and emergency water. We had a fellow freeze to death in a coat with his arms around a cold hot water tank. It still breaks our heart the old fellow did not get found in time. Mom was evacuated with us after the electric meter was pulled off her house. 3000 poles were down. We were lucky compared to many. Candles help.

being in agriculture the last thing i want to do is come home and work on my garden haha. however i do know how easy it is for foods to be destroyed. hug a farmer is right.. all it takes is one good freeze, a invading insect/pest, earthquake, or even that slight change in temp and you'll see fruits n veggie prices explode/even disappear off the shelves. i know how to cultivate, i try and be self reliant. both you (scotch) and nutnfancy have slapped me in the face bc i was blind but now i see!

The government first disarms its citizens through law, just as Hitler did when he came in to power. So, yes, having our guns does give us freedom because it gives us a chance to rise against our goverment. I suggest you do a little more reading and study American history involving the laws and policies that formed America.
