He repeatedly sings the line "we hardly knew ya" - perhaps a paraphrase to the old anti-war song "Johnny, I hardly knew ya", about a soldier coming back from war totally molested.

If you watch the intro on the ands website, they tell you it's about PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) or more appropriately, I feel, Shell Shock. When you watch it with that in mind, it truely is depressing and reminds us that so many of our soldiers suffer like this and no one knows, or seems to care.

@2009Rosalind, They used the rabbit as metaphor. The song is about his friend that had Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and ended up committing suicide. They have a Public Service Announcement that accompanies the video. The stuff with the rabbits illustrates the symptoms and effects of severe PTSD very effectively. I saw them live two days ago and they dedicated it to all the veterans in the crowd. Very moving.
