  • Grey Lagoons is my favorite Roxy Music tune.

  • I really hate to post a negative comment, but come on...this is Dylan without testicles shopping at K-mart on Qualudes!

  • Comment removed

  • Most influential band of the 1970s

  • @PlaylistMaker123 HOW CORRECT YOU ARE....

  • Ferry is the quintessential Cool...

  • I like the way you left the end of the show on here.

  • terrific orchestra in che final

  • Ferry is a rare talent - an innovator and interpreter who fits no particular mold. He's one of the greats.

  • One of the coolest artists ever, fully agree! look at him doing that harp, still fresh as if he is just new to the business, full of energy still!

  • great version!!!!!! full excelent

  • not too nuch, i sow alive, wose wnderfull! not paragon!

  • When I first heard of Bryan covering Dylan I was veerrry skeptical, but I was quite pleasantly surprised

  • @jxxybxxy2002 He interpreted Dylan from the very beginning of his career. He did an amazing version of A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall back in 73. Check it out.

  • You're above this bro ! Damn..this brand of curious may be your....but I don't need to hanb out......Good luck !

  • Ah ! So sad !!! Bryan - don't bow to these TV a-holes! Letterman hasa minor following in the US, but YOU are definitely a step above....don"t let him cow you...you are MORE than his equal !!

  • Avalon, Gray Lagoons. Brian Eno is a big time producer, used to be with Bryan in the Roxy Music days.

  • this cat's still gonna bust it in america....maybe....it could happen. he's a great talent and little LUCK Will go a long way!

  • The defining voice of the 70's - fucking awesome.

  • Wonderful Bryan, also been a fan for LONG time.. great version and band.

  • Bryan Ferry - just killing me softley!

I love him- from the Roxy days, 'till today he remain such a great artist and preformer! Brilliant ,thanx for posting :-)

  • He is the greatest I have been a fan for over 30 years he still makes me swoon

  • Great clasic

  • Heh heh...bet Bryan didn't much like being on the same show with Keith Olberman :) Love his music, but not his politics.

  • One of the coolest and classiest singer/songwriters of any generation!

  • he's got a version from a european cd that kills on a dylan cover.. back in the day..i saw 10000 people and no one listening thang

  • That's "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" from his first solo album "These Foolish Things." It is a killer version, yes. The album isn't just European. It was a world-wide release.

  • What year is this from?

  • June 27 2007

  • 1966

  • Always the coolest. A true giant for our generation.

  • great slide guitar - anyone know who he is?

  • Leo Abrahams

  • I think there might be a new Roxy Music album coming soon. Bryan Ferry's website is undergoing major re-construction. I hope they tour again and come to the United States I missed them the last time they came. I've been a huge fan for almost 30 years.

  • We can only hope!!! Would be a dream come true for a US Roxy tour. Bring it on!!

But , that website has been under re-construction for awhile... and before that was rarely updated.

  • I cought Bryan Ferry last time he was in Miami, I remember Gianni Versace sat behind me.

  • I hope you are right, I was 13 when I snuck into the gym to see them at Kent State University in 1975. I last saw him in 99 at The House Of Blues In Vegas, though I have seen him one other time. This last CD was the last actual CD I have bought besides packs of 100 blanks!

  • Rhythm guitar guy's styled a bit like Brian Jones...

  • now that you mention it, he's cool as shit!

  • Brian Ferry is brilliant!

  • Does anyone have the original recording of this or anything? I would pay for a good quality version of this.

  • Man its available everywhere.

  • The full quality original recording? Where?

  • Dylanesque!! This is the opening track and fabulous played loud :) My little guys love to dance with me to this one.

  • does anyone know the date this originally aired? thanks

  • I posted it June 27, 2007, so it must have been that night or the night before.

  • oliver thompson = beautiful

  • He is a GOD!

  • he is yesss

  • Brilliant. Great arrangement. Top of his game.

  • einfach super

  • Ferry is and always has been an expert showman. A rare talent.

  • Cool version

  • what is the dylan song called?

  • 'Just like Tom Thumbs blues'

  • Boogie funk this guy does it all Letterman even liked it Check out Grey lagoons by Bryan Ferry

  • He's still got IT!

  • Bryan could put his tones on the windows start up theme. It would still sound esoteric. Who's the blond rhythm player?(not the slide)

  • Hi,

this is Oliver Thompson (left stage)

  • So the rhythm guitarist is a guy. I wasn't sure. Thought he might be a girl.

  • Bryan is still dreamy. I'd be his love slave any day.

  • LOL! Cute!

  • i don't understand why this album was panned by some people. it's excellent. ferry is the last of a breed when it comes to covering other people's songs and interpreting standards.

  • only problem is that you are not doing original work.

  • This is a 5 star tune.

  • Hi,

who plays the slide guitar (Gibson)- right side????

    Regards from Germany, Rainer

  • not bad for a guy of 61...or should i say GOD of 61 toujour l'amour tojour bryan...

  • Nice song when did this air?

  • I wish Ferry would do some new stuff rather than doing a stupid tribute to Mr. 60s Scammer Bob Dylan. I stopped drinking the Dylan koolaid long ago. (He was right when he said his words mean nothing... they really do mean nothing). The kid is a great guitar player. Glad they left that wanker Spedding back in England too. I mean, Spedding... what's he ever fucking done????

  • bloggerjoe, Hmm, Well I'll have you know Chris is a well respected session player. Carry's kudos with me because he influenced that great playing on Never Mind The Bollocks. To make a point He's a musician's musician. Terrific player.

  • Way cool Roxyesque ;)

  • bugger Bryan: Ollie is the hottie here!

  • The man just has class... nice job posting this one.

  • Excelente, que buena atmósfera

    Saludos desde Argentina

    Guille

  • Great performance. Great singing, lyrics, and silky slide guitar. I transfered this baby to MP3...

  • What a gorgeous man! I loved him way back then, and he still makes me wet.

  • bryan ferry and david bowie are ageless. it's frickin' amazing.

  • Brian Ferry is brilliant!

Love the original ROXY MUSIC work.

I love his interpretations of Canned Heat (Let's Stick Together), Lennon (Jealous Guy) and now his Dylan songs are excellent too.

He has made me aware of a lot Dylan songs I never knew before.

  • fav dylan song.

  • When was this aired !?!...surely hate that i missed his performance :(, Thanks for uploading :D!

  • Anyone sings a Dylan song better than Dylan...no offense.

  • maybe better, but dylan´s voice is just unique...and thats great!!!

  • neil young´s version is much better!!!1

  • Agree with you very much ...but has Neil Young ever done... Virginia Plain better than Bryan Ferry`s Virginia Plain!(1972) Roxy...eh? Dylan included... have the...eh.. Americans heard of it... reseaearch?

  • ...we are flying down to Rio!

    ;)

  • Hmmmmm, I know he owns the original but hey Ferry beats him on smooth !!

  • how the hell is this guy 62 years old?!!!

  • I can't believe what Bryan Ferry is able to do with this song. WOW! What a voice, what a personality, what charisma, what presence, what a guy! Two thumbs up!

  • Makes you wanna grab him by the jacket collar and pull off your tie with his teeth before leaving all kinds of lipstick kisses on his collar.............

  • oops, I meant pull of HIS tie with YOUR teeth... damn Canadian Club whiskey got the best of me on this one....

  • I agree with 6870597. Even after all these years he's still got it. He oozes style.

  • sexiest singer in the world!

  • Bryan Ferry is cool.

  • My God...this is one amazing performance!

  • "Playing some"indeedee!castagnettes galore!

  • Brian Ferry should have punched Brian Adams in the jaw for defiling his Christian name.

  • Suave, sexy, sensational...Ladies & Gentleman, Bryan Ferry!!!!

  • I absolutely love this version.

  • What a man! Dylan should kiss Ferry's ass!!!!!!

  • I hope all you folks know that bob dylan wrote this song. hence "Dylanesque"

  • Well that's a load of crap, Robert Zimmerman wrote all these. Maybe the CD should be called Zimmermanesqe?

  • Don't you think we dont know that by now Bryan has a great way of been able to cover these songs and his voice suits this uptemplement and bring these songs into the 21st century No one is disputing that Bob Dylan isn't a good song writer but i perfer bryan singing these songs please note this is a general comment not been bitchy by any means

  • Bryan, Please, Please come to America

  • I had the pleasure to see him live on his Royal Albert Hall and Tower of London Tour this year and he is simply a star. Thanks for your music Bryan!

  • Bryan's a class act. Suave, sophisicated and downright sexy at 60. Not to mention a gifted and very talented musician.

  • OMG!! Bryan looks sooo gorgeous!!! He has gotta be one of the sexiest men on the planet!!! Went to see him during the 'Dylanesque' tour - he was amazing!!!

  • You are soooooo right there Pixie He's the love of our life and what a brilliant musician Our Bryan is He so much needs to receieve this Hall of Fame is well overdue , for His contribution to the music Industry for 35 years and all that he has done in between this.

  • The best thing I've heard in years. Gets better every time I listen to it.

  • Glad to see my favorite musician still at it..one of the most gifted songwriters of our time..ahead of his time, and underappreciated by many..thanks for a lifetime of great music, Bry!

  • Ferry sings the blues

  • Wow! - Now that's what I'm talkin' about. I now MUST learn to play slide guitar. How sweet was that? Superb. Thanks.

  • Coolest 61 year old dude I have ever seen!!

  • Amazing. I love it and missed it on Letterman. I appreciate you recordng it for us. What a great version he does!

  • I bought the cd from England before U.S. release.

It is a pretty good album. I have been a fan since 1976

  • Great clip. Bryan Ferry oozes debonair cool.

  • good to see bryan.. i wish dave had a chance to talk to him. I don't watch to much tv these days.

    Larry:)

  • Bryan never fails to please me...I saw him play in Amsterdam this year and he still blew me away, despite the fact that I can't stand Bob Dylan (Dylan writes good songs, but his voice sounds like a vacuum cleaner to me)...

  • My hero! Bryan, come to the west coast for a show please!....

  • Great.

  • I thought he was singing to ME!!! How did I miss this man all these years? Extraordinary.

  • OMG - I fell asleep, didn't even make it to the Top Ten list, woke up in a state of bliss upon seeing gorgeous Bryan singing to me. Loved the arrangement. Thanks for the song ID notseafood

  • The song is titled Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, like many Dylan classics, you won't guess that from the lyrics. Like Dave L. said: TREMENDOUS!

  • I was really wanting not to like this but damn.. this band cooks and Ferry's phrasing fits this tune to a tee...

I've seen him cover a number of numbers off this disc and this might be my favorite one.
