  • The ballet school that doesn't teach pointe to males doesn't understand that the ballet was opened for male dancers that could not get roles in another ballet troupe. There's minimal roles for men in traditional ballet. Maybe if they weren't teaching so many male dancers they wouldn't have some turning to female roles en pointe. Just a thought.

  • not realy my thing

  • To say that men can dance better than women because they have more "physical force" is stupid. Both genders can dance equally well if they work hard enough and attempt to dance roles that are meant for the opposite of their own gender.

That being said, I have no problem with men en pointe, it's a good excercise for a dancer- it builds strength and balance... though the dancers in this video seemed very wobbly- much more wobbly than most ballerinas I've seen.

  • Nitwits! Sexual orentation has nothing to do with how well you play football or if you dance or not. Its what sex you are vs what sex you are attracted to.--Nothing else. BTW being a ballet dancer should be a hetro guy;s dream--Access to all those lovely young ladies and getting to touch them in "fun" parts durring lifts , etc. Its only logical that one should find more gays on a football team than in a ballet troop.

  • If you people payed attention to the video you'd know that sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. In Russia, ballet is a man's sport. When I saw the Moscow ballet there were MORE men than women in the production. The reason they started this company was because there just aren't enough ballerinas to go around and they want to dance even if they don't get one. It's supposed to be funny! And a boy in a tutu is funny! More power to them!

  • I never hear marathon runners called anorexic, ballet dancers train just as hard and for just as many long hours and burn just as many or more calories. I have been in ballet for 30 years and have never met an anorexic dancer, although do know they exist.

  • Faggots

  • i do ballet but that does not mean im gay just metro!!!

  • anerexic ballet kids.. jj

  • LAMENTAVELMENTE EU NÃO ENTENDO INGLES TRADUÇÃO SERIA MUITO BOM POIS É SEMPRE BOM ENTENDER QUE OS BALARINDOS RUSSOS NOS PASSAM

    CULTURA É SEMPRE BOM

  • The Ballets Trocadero de Monte Carlo, a US based all-male troupe, has been doing this sort of thing for years.

To my eyes, they are more feminine than the fine Russian dancers in this video.

Also, they have an out, gay campiness. Just the sort of thing the commentators here who desperately need to portray ballet as a bastion of heterosexuality don't have the sense of humor to appreciate.

  • 4:18 he is so cute!!

  • my god the boys are anorexic! quite alot of them!

  • The all male performance is suppose to be all in good fun. Not about "replacing" women.

On a side note, I thought that female instructor was going to snap that kid's neck! @_@

  • this is just simple parody can anyone here see beyond their noses dancing on pointe its not about been fragile or femenim its about painful and hard and strength technique, and now its been used for impuving the male feet strength and archs so what the hell let them dance if you dont like something you just dont have to watch it¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • I think that is a bit grotesque, honestly, not because of bigotry, but because male are different in shape compared to female. Male is straight liners, while female are gracious and curvely

  • no....there's figure skating....ballet is far superior to that man....

  • hou, dumbass nigga, hou?

  • You should at least learn to spell before you use words as insults. You ought to be embarrassed to call yourself a college guy.

  • so says an expert on the matter..as you, Sister !!

  • Oups! What to think?

If you wanna loosen the roles, why not put women to men's roles in the same play? Women are typically quite handsome and sturdy in what they think that they would look like if they were men, and most men are quite fragile, so they could benefit a lot from women's values and ways.

  • Anyone can put on pointe shoes but that doesn't mean they ought to! These guys can't even turn out! It's pathetic! *sigh* If any ballerina danced like that she would be booed off the stage!

  • I know what you mean. Part of me thought they were bad on purpose and another that they said it's a parody to cover up bad technique. I'd like so see the men do it correctly and see how they look compared to a woman.

I don't know what it is about men and always needing to be on top. My dance teacher told this guy that because he's a man he's likely to get any part he wants because of the shortage here. I'm bad, and honestly, I think he's worse than me. :(

  • i find this vid gross all the guys r like sticks eww... but other than that this was very interesting

  • I found them to be clumsy and ungraceful. Perhaps it was deliberate, a parody.

  • You certainly are right about the joints they dance upon, regardless it is referred to as dancing upon their "toes".My point was that the Georgian/Kavkas/Adighe/Svan,etc. men are very virile, sensual dancers who do not use padding ,makeup and artifice to accomplish their aims and truly are graceful and beautiful in a totally masculine way.

  • If you want to watch men dancing on their toes and truly being gorgeous and masculine, watch the Georgian men!Sukhishvili,Nodar Pliev,Nalmes,Merkuri, etc.Stunning!

  • The Georgian male dancersdo not dance on thir toes! They dance on the knuckles of their feet! It is completely different from being on full pointe!

  • they're quite impressive, but somehow they don't seem to have the same grace en pointe that you see in professional women. perhaps with more training they would, but it just isn't the same

  • NICE !! that what we need male ballerina's Xd ftw men choose female roles yeaaay

  • love the cds in the background

  • Yawn. Trocs did it first and do it best.

  • свиньи повсюду слишком

  • Здесь,как говорится,на вкус и на цвет товарищей нет...

  • But Rudolf Nureyev is.

  • Well I do belive that Guys should always dance the male parts , but not all Great male ballet dancers are gay.

For one example Mikhail Baryshinikov COnsidered to be the wolrds greatest male Dancer is not Gay.

So that I don't agree with you on that one.

  • Sexual orientation has nothing to do with dancing. A great dancer is mainly a guy who spent hours and hours in practice. And being gay does not help him to dance better.

  • @Razoumovski i disagree with you don't have to be manly to be be a good dancer

  • @Razoumovski you are 100% correct. And it's a shame that many people are too much into the etched in stone old fashion definitions of what it is to be manly and womanly.

  • just fuck off .... ballet is just a hoppy like everything else... at least they get to hold a girl unlike you. watch your personality... people dont like selfish and rude people like you

  • Right on !

  • Those boys are so skinny...

  • They are working very hard for hours. So they dont have any fat. They look strange, when they are still so young. But look at them when they are older. They will be quite strong then.

  • wat accent is that O_O

  • I'm pretty sure it's an Australian accent.

  • Oh! No Vlerii himself in this bit:-( He was a real wonder when I saw him on stage some years ago:-)

  • Who needs hetero's?

  • @Dutlass People who'd like to procreate..

  • @Dutlass Everbody cause gays can't make babys... ^^

  • I love the Idea

  • LOL

  • And even more surprising, it that they are all most likely heterosexual. Most male ballet dancers are straight, and considering how well respected ballet is in Russia, and different job opportunity to a male danser, I really think they all have girlfriends!

  • No thanks...I still prefer traditional male/female Russian style ballet.

  • go screw buddie

  • The director of this group did not come up with the idea. Les Ballets Trocadero was founded in New York twenty years earlier and they NEVER made any phony excuses as to why men were dancing the female roles. "Shortage of female dancers" nothing! There is an excess of good female dancers. The purpose of this is clear. Drag comedy can be hilarious when done well, as Les Ballets Trocadero has been proving worldwide for 35 years.

  • Unusual, and I thought they were just ugly women lol. Love to go to SP one day though.

  • WELL SEXUAL AGGRESSION
