I have a friend who used to go to these events, but stopped in disgust. She said the vast majority of the guys there couldn’t care less about the planet, but were just out to have sex with as many naïve middle-class girls as possible after filling their heads with fake tales of eco-warrior campaigning around the globe.

They were effectively all as bad as John Worboys, though not technically as it was all consensual. Not that the Police cared what went on in those camps in any case…

The police were defending themselves from an aggresive (large) group of people who had unlawfully trespassed on private property with intent to commit a criminal act.

Its a shame there was not enough police to arrest everyone there and put them all before the Court to answer for their behavior.

I bet every person there calls the police at the drop of a hat if they think they have had a crime committed against them, and look how they treat the police now.

Shameful.

Although the police were completely wrong for doing what they did, you guys are lucky..

In The US (where I live), they shot my in a forehead and beat my girlfriend bloody while we both held peace signs.

I just don't understand the camera women saying "you're going to be in trouble" to the officers -- the legal system favors the oppression of the people and brutality of police.

It's important that the new Kingsnorth power station is not built because if it is - apart from the fact there are better, cleaner ways to produce electricity - the UK, as a country that has been prominently advocating global carbon dioxide emissions cuts in the run up to Kyoto II, will have no leverage in persuading developing countries (like China) not to build loads of cheap coal fired power stations.

The police left the site the previous day, then unlawfully tried to get back on by using violence. The crowd respond only with words, and if you watch other videos on here you,ll see they also responded later with song, yet the police used violence again. This was political policing, and has no place in a so called civilized society.

Even if they did have a cop in the crowd (which they didn't) does it allow them to behave like that when the cops unlawfully raid the site at five o'clock in the morning when everyone's asleep? Can you see one person in the video hit a cop or fight back after they've been hit with a baton?
