There was a version made male without a chest or woman parts because Capcom of america didn't want to be bitched at by parrents having their kids beating women in the old Final Fight game that came out on one of the consoles.

There was a confusion since, and then people exploiting it on an artistic level and now several people are miss led to believe Poison is a guy, or both.
