more like $300 a laptop. OLPC may not be as functional, but it is realistic for third world countries. Intel tried to turn charity into a market with this laptop - shame on them. If Intel truly cared for third world children, they would force consumers to donate a classmate PC laptop when they buy one for themselves (that's how it is with OLPC).
I like it but the moniter is a bit small. It's a bit hard to hear but I hope Intel give these to schools for pupils to keep. I didn't catch the processor and the other specifications.
So it comes with Windows? how much would it cost if it came with GNU/Linux? Is that choosable? i don't like windows neither use it for work so i would prefer one with nothing installed at least...
Not this year. Intel is planning to begin a program in 2007 and it is probably that this product is going to be ensambled by local companies in the third world. Thanks for your question.
Looks like the Apple G3 iBook (Clamshell)

Actually, that would be a good price for me. A dirt cheap laptop...for word processing and music.

this laptop was design to include third world people in the computer era. It's not a great MACHINE, but works fairly.

Ballsy choice on using windows. I guess it will create tech support jobs in all the countries where this project is aimed at.
