No, Dorie, when you are talking about general, fruits is correct. The same goes to Peoples, when you are talking about ethnic group you can be use peoples, fishes when you are taking about the species in general.

yes the plural of fruit is "fruit" if it is the same kind of fruit.

But for many type of fruits, then the plural of fruit is "fruits"...
