@philnunn1969 : If your ears are so open ,then please name a few who really made it in the music business by playing blues rock guitar now ,and are about the same age as John Mayer
For those wondering, it's Mayer playing the entire solo. He just decided to play the first half using harmonics, and bending behind the nut; and from a guitar players standpoint, that's not just clever, its epic.
@0126578@Fender074 I kinda thought that's what he was doing, but for some reason I kept thinking nahhhhh Robbie Mcintosh is tearing it up on the slide!!! Mayer is a freakin genius this is defintely my favorite version of gravity
At least this vid isn't all fucked up and fast. Look, we all know John Mayer is the ballocks. I don't care how much of a 'tough guy' you are, he makes beautiful music. His talent on the guitar and his song writer deserve so much more love.
I remember the comment the announcer made at the end of the set, as opposed to the generic "wasn't that great folks?" he said.."wow, I've never heard of this guy but i am definately gonna go out and buy all his records now". I saw him twice in a week, and this was the second performance and it was a completely different set...outstanding musical talent.
Love it !!

@nfrantnik what a dumb thing to say there are plenty of " old school" guitar players around you just need to open your ears more

For those who are interested in technique of behind-nut-bends, listen to Jerry Donahue's music.
