  • Real nigger music in da house!!

  • Well I'll be Damned, Still sounds more Powerful & Meaningful on SOTBII though

  • 0:21 ok, which one of them is Aarbron?

  • they likely share a common origin.

  • @olllj

Did you read the comments by the composer himself?

"I was sent reference music for "game over", and told to copy it by Reflections. At the time I had no idea where it had come from... but you can rest easy, all my other music in SOTB II is original. :O)"

  • David?

  • WOW i never knew that, but it makes sense. Vices Jan Hammer music.

  • This should be called "The Ponytail Theme".

  • Ok, excuse me this joke, but I had to write it... That's why music in Atari ST version is better and much more original ;-)

... It's just a joke. I'm dedicated ST/STE user, but I like SOTB on Amiga very much (including the atmosphere, which is a result of great graphics and soundtracks). Peace!

  • maybe the guys who created SOTB are the huge Miami Vice fans.

  • aaaahhhh!!! It's the same music !!!!!

  • Wow, at the very end I thought it was Borat saying "NIIIIIIIIIICE!!! I LIKE!!"

  • Great music, the song is walk and talk like the angels by Toni Childs when they both dance..Noel

  • does any one know the name of the song when celeste and that guy dance

  • lol, what's the point of wearing a skirt if you can see the crotch when it's pulled down to full length?

  • @laffer35 no prob ;)

  • @laffer35 it's a joooooke for sure miami vice is older, but I'm an Amiga fan :)

  • maybe miami vice copied the music from SOTB2

  • @laffer35 No worries! :o)

  • I was sent reference music for "game over", and told to copy it by Reflections. At the time I had no idea where it had come from... but you can rest easy, all my other music in SOTB II is original. :O)

  • I'm sorry, I always realized that... I should have been more clear in the title of the video and specified that I'm talking about the game over tune only.

  • @coldstoragevideo wow now it all makes sence.. obviously your tracks for Reflections/Psygnosis were/Are simply classic (i even keep some in my ipod) but i the game track was sampled from a real guitar and more than likly sourced from some great metal ballet. the only problem which one? and after seeing this vid i realised it was ORIGINALLY created by none other than Jan Hammer

  • @xevious2501 Except I believe this one wasn't composed by Jan Hammer... it was composed by Tim Truman, or so I'm told.

  • cool, i didn't know that.

  • Niiiice groceries! XD

By the way, nice find, laffer!

  • Damn, how did you find out man :-)

But maybe it's the other way around. Maybe MV took it from SotB...

Do you know the exact date off the 2.

Do you know wich episode it is so i can watch it?

  • Very clever to have picked up on that one, it's very subtle and played in slightly different way one small point,

I guess someone must have written and performed the piece, which one was it put into first then? they were both from the 80's weren't they?

  • Well Spotted!

  • Love this game series' music. I got it on mp3/mod because it was so memorable. I'm surprised it was inspired by Miami Vice! You learn something new every day!

  • The Amiga 500, I had one, too. The graphics and sound were great. *grin*

  • They made a Shadow of the Beast III? :P

  • Crazy. How'd you find this out?

  • OMFG :O

hthere my childhood memories are getting raped

but i suppose, its the truth

  • Same here :( I thought it was original...

  • Very interesting to notice...... it was incredibly cozy music on that game yes, we remember......

  • These Games have the best music ever!

  • @KALSoundProductions Turrican 2 intro (7 channel!) music is not so bad.

  • haha thats awesome. looks better on beast 2 though

  • ha, and I always thought it was Pink Floyd or something.

  • Before anyone asks... nope, I wasn't aware it was copyright, nor indeed composed by someone else called Tim (what are the chances of that?). Nice tune though... guess that's why they wanted me to copy it(!)

  • Ah, that explains a lot! Thanks for posting, really interesting.

Lots of good memories from these games, primarily because of the music!

  • wow you did some of the great amiga music?? thanks for all those ear orgasms =)

  • Orgasms? Cool! I'll have to play my Amiga tracks to my wife... LOL! Listening back, Ii's only slightly different, and mine ends on a major chord not minor... but I guess it's not a bad cover version for 4 channels and a few 100k of RAM. "Nice Groceries!" :OP

  • Dude, you're Tim Wright! Your website is called "CoLd SToRaGe" or something like that! OMG!

  • This video is elsewhere on YouTube, and I made some comments there... but it bears repeating here. ;O)

Miami Vice came first. All the music in SOTB2 that features guitar is put together from random guitar APART from this piece. I was sent a C60 cassette (remember those!?) with music on (this track) and told to copy it by Reflections. So, I did! The then M.D. of Reflections was a big Miami Vice fan, so it all makes sense now. ;O)

  • Really interesting thanks.

I still love the music from this game.

  • @coldstorageman123 SOTB music rocks.

  • @coldstorageman123

Miami Vice Theme composer is JAN HAMMER from Cech Republic (like I), for example:

    youtube.com/watch?v=GQDU-2qMre0

( tip: last code in link you maybe must manually rewrite for get work )

  • PS Nice GROCERIES!

  • i gotta say it, like those before me.. WELL SPOTTED chief 5/5 star post

  • Man, that is very well spotted!

  • I think it's unlikely that the Miami Vice tune came first, as the Beast music was put together from a collection of random guitar samples. Unless the composer of the Vice tune can claim the same (which would suggest a coincidence of astronomical proportions) then Vice is the copycat.

  • Well this Miami Vice episode was in 1988 so when did Shadow of the Beast 2 come out?

  • HALLELUJA!!!

You know man, many nerds were kidding me for years, because this.

I've heard this song for the first time in 1992, while my grandpa was watching Miami Vice.

I've always loved Shadow of the beast, especially the music, and when the game cames out, and I recognized the song was the same...

    uho, wonderful.

    Good job man @;)

PS: there is an Miami Vice episode with Long long way to go by Phil Collins feat. Sting, check it out @;D

  • Wow - well spotted!!!

  • AMAZING! wow honestly blown away with that....i always loved that tune...who knew!

  • I had always thought this game over tune does not really fit the game. Now I got why :)

  • Amazing!

  • No words...

  • Great Observation there!

  • Oooooh naughty naughty !!!

  • Do you know that Ive always wondered from where was this music? It sounded in echoes in my brains, but I didnt recognize it... til today!!!! Thanks

  • haha never noticed that before! good catch!

  • Never really watched the show much. However the tune is layed out, it's very good!

  • Seems that way!

  • the Miami vice theme does seem a very good inspiration for the Shadow Beast 2 game over music

  • Lol, didn't see that but I love the pic
