I wish she'd stick to songs like this and Rockferry. I don't like her more pop (err... Popesque? Pop-ish? Poppy? Which one fits better?) style songs like Rain on your Parade and Mercy. I reckon she should stick with the Welsh-Country (or atleast that's what I'm calling it) genre.

And, I know, pop will probably sell more C.D.s but that's not what music's about. The only truly great band that ever got loads of No.1s where the Beatles.

This list goes on but these were the only bands I could think of at the time. But the point remains the same: To be great, you don't have to be Number One, and sell the most, all the above bands didn't (I'm unsure about one (BUT ONLY ONE)) and they are the ones that will go/are going down in history.

Led zeppelin never released any singles in the UK, but sold tens of millions of albums worldwide. Same can go for AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Pink Floyd; they sell albums not singles as a rule (although there are exceptions)

Rolling Stones are in the top 10 most number ones in the UK. U2 have had a few number ones. GNR are a large selling band.

I wouldn't say great bands don't sell records. Rather that those who don't fit preffered styles of the time don't.
