it makes my eyes well up...such tremendous effort bringing forth something so magical. this is beyond an ad...its an uplifting fete that all Kenyans should look upon proudly in their lowest times . The words, the catchy tune, the emotion, the scenery, the common purpose...i think its Ksh60million superbly spent. ata nikihama safaricom hii ad itanifanya a loyal fan for life.
one thing you should realize is that knowledge builds on itself- very few ideas on earth are totally independent and weren't inspired by others. even tho' this vid is similar to the qantas ad , the sights and sounds are unique to kenya. those who say this video is an insult should think again- its awesome! and for heaven's sake be a little more patriotic!!
What the fuck is wrong with people? Do you think having Kenyans doing the production would have made a better product? There is a reason why Safaricom chose that specific production company...... for once stop thinking like people with the IQ of a wet floor and think about the end product.
It was GREAT and wouldn’t be without everyone that invested their Skills, Voices, Time and most of all MONEY. I am proud to see Kenya in such a perspective. Beautiful.

Its truly an insult. Why copy? Even 2% means luck of ideas. Oh..talk of Australian...we have kenyan musicians singing about a kenyan company....how about having kenyans do it???
@jkinyua Just coz someone is white it don't mean they can't be Kenyan. For all i know even you Kinyua, a Kikuyu sounding name could be Canadian or something. Kenyans come in all colors, accents and styles. relax mjomba
1st time I saw the ad, I thought it was wonderful, very emotive.
After seeing the Qantas ad, I think it's very lame, it gives me a very negative vybe everytime I hear it and I just change the channel. I think the ad denigrates my country proving that anything good in Kenya must have been copied from abroad!
Either way Safaricom is still top-of-mind and therefore I guess it's achieved its purpose.
I hope the Australian wasnt paid full fees coz the negative publicity this has caused Safaricom...
I really don't care if a Qantas guy was copied or whatever mukora is saying. Thing is this is a damn good piece! Safcom guys should possibly make a full album with the choir and subsidize the price to reward the loyalty of customers. A full CD won't be so much will it? Oh and something else, give the lead singer a pay hike i mean she breathes LIFE into the song when she starts. Lovely stuff na niko na safaricom.
I like the song and the scenes. Beautiful composition and arangement. Kudos. Very refreshing.
Not to rain on your pared but I just don't like the vocals. From a vocal-trainer's point of view, who's worked with choirs and choruses, i think the choir needed to be a lot more prepared. the singing is a bit too bland for me. Not good. I have examples of school and college choirs who can sing better that that. Otherwise, good job!!
the old adverts were better..remember the little lamu boy and the eggs...or the people at the market....this is just a pattern...arial shot....people singing...arial shot...people singing.....this ad sucks....unsutable for a mobile phone service provider....GREAT FOR AN AIRLINE THOUGH....and the posters of landscapes with a clumsy photo in the middle suck even harder....but safaricom services suck super hard....they suck donkey balls very very hard
Intellectual pro...whaaaaat????!!! Like they give a Sh*%t about that, asking them who owns the original advert? asking that is like asking them who developed the MPESA Idea....LOLest

Thank you Safaricom for a) going back to your theme for advertisements b) making me super proud to be kenyan and c) lifting the standards of advertising once again. Excellent work. So glad to see you are back to trailblazing. It's a phenomenal job, Quantas, no Quantas. Less hateration please!
saw the Qantas ad and though there are some similarities, it is not the same advert. So even though I'm not a Safaricom fan of late, the use of our natural landscape was a continuation of what they have always done and should not be seen as a duplication of the Qantas advert.
Beautiful advert. Made be feel homesick as I was born in Kenya. Amazing scenery - fantastic shots. Huge congratulations to the whole team and cast for producing an outstanding advert.
There is nothing new under the sun. What creates the buzz is the execution, and when we judge it on the basis of that criterion, Safaricom have scored big time. So what if the concept was borrowed? The fact is, it has worked for the Kenyan market. Each country plays to its strength. Kenya has breathtaking scenery, whichever direction you take. This ad has simply played to the country's strengths. Great job guys. And who says that the CEOs of both companies don't know each other?

Yeah Whatever Quantas or not. The Scenery is Kenya, music by Kenyans. I dont think you can get that in the land down under.
To me it is better than the "It is Flat Campaign" which was the worst campaign of Kencell. We have had ten years of Crappy Ads in the Kenyan Industry. Well Done Safcom I hope that Brand Bure Kenya will borrow a leaf from you.
As marketers, we look for creativity and originality. Its a big let down to Safaricom to have copied the Australian Qantas Ad-theme. Am so disappointed. U need to do much to get back your once loyal customers... not with this kind of copying to impress. Poleni.
@ VILLASEZI The only thing that makes us or make things different is originality. How do you think the Australian who came up with this concept Ad would feel if they saw a dublicate in kenya without even being paid loyalties? They would feel totally disgusted.

Safaricom TVC ads just keep getting better and better and better and this one is the best of the best to date, it markets Kenya like no other. I got one hell of a buzz in the making and an even bigger buzz watching the made commercial. Kudos to the QBF Team I am proud to have been a part of it. You surely outdid yourselves.

The Land of my birth of Scottish parents.
beautiful scenery amazing that half of the locations I have never been to. yaani we even have sand dunes in kenya wtf??!! kudos but as a kawaida Kenyan skeptic those odieros are mob kwani hakuna Kenyans who can push that jobo??!! all in all good stuff!!! niko na safaricom!
Kenya is beautiful. The scenery & landscape in this video make me want to just take a trip around my country! Well done QBF, well done Gabriel Omondi...Kudos to everyone involved in the making! I want to know what it cost!
Kenya is a beautiful country. Gabo is an amazing composer....then the bloody Australian creatives had to copy paste an ad from their own country. The sheer arrogance of it stinks!!!
I was there we traveled to the most amazing places, the whole team (cast + Crew) was incredible the outcome amazing. Oh n i got to say its a wrap in Swahili how cool! this Ad was locally Produced by Quite Bright Films QBF with the assistance of one of the best director and DOP.
They couldnt get original??? they had to copy Qantas airlines commercial?? atleast whoever shot it should have added a little bit of originality to it!!! You guys copied the tvc as it is...how so uncreative!!!!
No other company in Kenya has ever bothered to portray Kenya the way Safaricom has. So what if it resembles that other random ad half of you didn't even know it existed so stop hating? I don't see a copied ad I see me traveling around kenya to see all those beautiful places. Wow Kenyans we are truely blessed
the crew is australian??
