hey man im not being a pric or bein arogant but it trains you to have a lot tougher core if you have someone tie a rounded rock up and hang it over a tree and have them hit you in the stomach with it as you do sit-ups
Its my first day training with Iron Body (had a friend who trained with it for a few years) and fingertip blows... I'm amazed at what can be achieved. I'm also heavily into my weight training hypertrophy-wise so I guess that just means extra padding for the Iron Body workouts. Great video as well, I now have another activity to do after my 6 mile forest hikes.
@1rishShaman - On a side note after re-watching the video... your arms are huge! Would hate to be on the receiving end of a blow from you. Excellent conditioning by the way.
Do you ever notice how the quality of the comments always deteriorates after the first five or six?I If I ever post a video on You-tube I'm disabling the comments after the first six.I liked the video, you seem like a dedicated individual. I'm so tired of hearing about the "spiritual side" it's a MARTIAL art,
love your videos, true martial spirit. What do you think of weight training in martial arts? Alot of Wing Chun guys say it hinders them in various ways, is it the same for Xingyi and the other internal arts? Do you weight train?
@mertles02 i was only 14 in this vid, so i was kinda skinny. I actually do strength train, but not with weights. I do pull ups, grip training, Spring Chest expander, push ups, and occasionally i will use dumbells , but there is a whole world out there for strength training without weights. I got bulked up to 170 of muscle before, but i didnt like it. I had to eat all the time, take protein shakes. Now im 160, fit , lean, and a bit muscular and happy. be comfortable
It would have been more impressive if you left out the first part, or split it with your own back hand or palm. Perhaps that'd be a tip for a video you could do in the future?
in the arm conditioning routine, you can see from your final strike that you are hitting the inner side of your forearm on the tree. You have one of your main arteries that run up the inside of the arm, therefore your conditioning should try to aim on the top/outer part of the forearm, and not the innerside or bottom side.
how do you get your midsection tough to withstand body blows? I've heard using medicine balls, and I've seen something called an iron stick, which is a stick of canvas with beans/orgravel/or steel shot inside. I don't know what's safe and what's not. Cool video by the way
the best way is to get a teacher or do a TON of reserach from books about "iron shirt" training. Be prepared for alot of Qigong and getting slapped and hit alot. I think Mantak chia has some good books.
Dit Da Jow is to prevent / alleviate bruising and stagnation of blood. When you develop a bruise (Which you will.. from hitting things) it is a localized swelling, which if hit repeatedly, won't heal properly and can cause long-term damage.
Dit da jow (with massaging) prevents stagnation of blood and bruising, and allows quicker recovery.
@ThisGuy9508 Let me add, that dit da jow is a normally a mixture of herbs left in an alcoholic liquid (mostly a very high concentrate of alcohol), so that the herbs could age and mix and then a synergies would occur and give better results than the single herbs themselves.
Find me that interview and I will admit it, otherwise it's pretty insane to believe chuck would lose. Chuck went undefeated in full contact karate for like 6 years strait. Just look up the records on google. Bruce never competed.
true, but...just because you dont compete doesnt mean that you cannot be a deadly fighter. Having multiple sparring partners, private challenge matches, street fighting, self-defense,....... and these are things Bruce was heavily involved. The fact is, you can never know who would win unless they actually fought
Read all the books written by people that have true lineage in karate and judo. Everyone outside of kids that watch martial arts movies know that Bruce Lee was an actor first and a fighter second. Even the people on the set said that Chuck Norris bested him during their sparring sessions. Chuck Norris was undefeated in open karate tournaments for 5-6 years strait. Bruce Lee was an actor first and a martial artist second.. Big difference friend.
@waterIsis I agree that Bruce Lee was not a world-class fighter on par with proffesionals, but I would say that we was a good fighter in the streets. From what I recall, he got into ALOT of street-fights and sparred often. So, maybe he isnt world-class, but I still wouldnt want to fight Bruce Lee in a dark alley.
@randyds5 yes I would agree with that for sure. my only issue is when people classify Bruce Lee as the best of the best forever and ever lol...there have been a lot of great masters that couldve whipped him- everyone has someone better than them at some point....bigger, younger, faster whatever Bruce Lee is viewed to be so much of an icon that people don't really think about the fact that there are and have been people better...this is in fact not a knock against Lee at all. its just life
where did you get tht info from lol? you say bruce lee wasnt tht good of a fighter. but when you ask those guys opinions they will totally disgaree with you "No-name"
actually, if you train properly, the original way with energy and proper techniques like in iron palm training you arent going to hurt yourself, ironbody training was designed to strengthen and toughen joints, bones and muscle, unless ur an idiot you arent going to hurt yourself.
More like Skinny Stick Boy beating himself up. Try getting on a Power Lifting routine for a year or two and doing something positive for that pipe cleaner Starvin Marvin body of yours.
hmm i was 14 in this clip, im 21 now. And yeah, youve got a real attitude man. I like your videos showing how hard you train. Oh wait, you dont. I dont have to talk trash on the internet, I train hard. Peace, and ahmitoefoe my confused patrone.
No offence but every martial artist should take pride in himself sure. However we should show no sign of arogance no matter how hard we've trained. You may have trained yourself physicaly but you seem to have neglected the spirtual side that is Martial Arts.
Correct. I always say that if you want to master your art you must always stay open to philosophy. Without philosophy and spirituality, there is only senseless violence.
Badmouthing is clearly a sign that you're not cut out to be a martial artist.
@Kain9909 Really man? More of that spiritualistic "true martial artists are saintly figures" bs? Dude, grow up, seriously. I agree, ALL people should strive to be humble, not just martial artists. But this guy, Randy, he doesn't seem to be a boastful prick. And quite frankly, the continued stereotype of martial artists as striving to be wonderful, saintly figure is an irritating and infantile stereotype. Most people just want to survive a mugging. Get real.
Lol, if you think size matters. Look at Bruce Lee [Not one of the best, but defently not one of the worst] He wasn't such an impressive sight to behold, 'till you seen him throw a punch or seven [>>] This dude is probably some fatass 40 year old virgin that sits on his couch all day eating potato chips and looking up how to perform the yin technique... bzzt fail -__-;
Kung Fu requires no muscle .. but he is far from doing it the proper way .. plus you don't need to put your resting arm that far from the other one, you are lose 0.5 of speed and energy. You should practice the form slowly with breathing you will get a better alignment, In a real fight even if you get Iron arms you will get beaten up by someone with basic Siu Lim Tao knowledge and proper alignment. Keep aligned and breath if u didn't. Do you have a dmy? If nt make one and learn 118 on the dummy

Do the blocks against a partner in a horse stance. Then move on to a tree. Be sure to get plenty of calcium and massage the arms before and after practice. A good dit da jow might be useful too.
deffinately. When you are self-taught, you have to learn everything the hard way and often develope bad habits that can take years to undo. Only after ahving been taught by a good teacher for many years, then you can branch off on your own with your basic understanding. The only advantage self-taught martail artists have, is the ability to learn from everyone and not be confined. Although many martial artists dont realize, that can be achieved regardless.

It took about 6 months to get my abdominals to withstand the impact. Years and years of forearm training.....
