yeah my Irish ass should do these more often than once every 4 or 5 years. This was sort of a fly by the seat of my pants workout. Hadn't done any one arm work in quite a while when I hit these lifts. I still like them a bunch.
It's funny that most of the people who have advice about these types of lifts... will never and have never tried them. A dumbbell would be better? You may be able to use more weight with the db or kettlebell snatch but the training effect and overall athleticism of the 1-arm barbell lifts cannot be beat.
I guess I can comment. If you pay attention I don't really get cooked per say. The 4th attempt I was quite strong enough to do the lift I just didn't hit the proper groove. As for the 5th attempt I think I just lost heart to jump under even though I pulled it high enough. Watch my attempts at 150lbs and you will see the same thing.

I'm only 13, weigh 203lbs of solid, DRUG FREE STRENGTH and I can military press 370lbs for one SOLID, STRICT REP or 230lbs for about 16-18 reps. :P

The reason I loved doing those one arm lifts ( besides being fun ;) ), is that it boosts the stability of your shoulder tremendously!
