Wow, he looks so healthy still. :( If the 'Avant Garde' 'sat up and took notice,' it was because they found something great in their midst, not because they found something more 'out there.' Holy Scheiss. How do these people listen to themselves.
His life was the stuff of operas. A bizarre but sweet persona, a huge amount of vision, and a career on the brink of going sensational. And yet he was probably dying even as his career began to take off.
Yes, do you have some question about that? 1984 was a 1948 novel by George Orwell and was considered by most to be a warning about life in the future. Now it's considered an instruction manual by some.
@trylonperisphere that is SO true! What a profound observation that holds a genuinely creepy meaning in it, reflecting the state of this world as we know it in 2010!
Does anyone have Klaus' version of "I Feel Love"??? It's bloody AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish there was a time machine, there is NOTHING as innovative as this anymore. Everything is just so processed now. Nothing could ever be as exciting musically and presentation wise ever again. I agree with Klaus, that the future was now!.... Late 70s to mid 80s was THE FUTURE!!!!
Wow! This is an amazing clip. Klaus was an absolute musical prodigy! I hadn't realized he achieved the cult status he did as demonstrated by this appearance on Channel 5 News as reported by Judy Licht. Gawd! Does she look so young! I'm so glad he did. I would love it if you told me you have a video of him singing ,"I Feel Love", one of my very favorites. Please tell you do. Please? BTW; What year did this clip appear?
I think there's a bit more of it in the documentary "The Nomi Song." He died in August '83 and this was a "few short years" before 1984. Probably 1981.
I was at clubs where he was many times and even saw him perform once. I think I remember him and Joey Arias working at Fiaruccis (is that how you spell it) which was a store uptown that had hip clothes. He was such a personage on the nightclub scene. I was watching the Saturday Night Live when he and Joey sang backup for David Bowie. I jumped up from my chair and said, "Oh my God, Klaus is on TV." I will never forget him.
Not only was he an incredible artist, but off-stage he comes off as an incredibly humble, down-to-earth person. The world needs more people like Klaus.
The teletype sound heard on this clip over Judy Licht was designated "Teletype Receivers Battery" and came from the Thomas J. Valentino/Major Records sound effects library.
i love the clip of, i feel love at 1:09, but i cnt find a full video of it i have the whole song on my ipod tho, please let me no if you find a full , i feel love video.
I wish Klaus Nomi alive and make more unforgettable music and his beautiful angelic voice. Oh, it's great to see the whole thing! Klaus music will be with us forever!

Wow, he is a pioneer of many performance style.
The techno opera, the man in elaborate set pieces and the trademark makeup.
Marilyn Manson copied so much from him.
TheLamelyNamed 2 years ago 3
@TheLamelyNamed Marilyn Manson is what would have resulted from a union between Klaus Nomi and Alice Cooper, but he's not as talented as either.
Bogframe 1 year ago
@TheLamelyNamed And Lady Gaga, i guess. I mean, just look at her. She seems like a cheap imitation of this brilliant artist.
Then again, who and what isn't looking like that today? God, i miss the 80s.
