I love Heroes 4, and have loved it since Heroes 2 (didn't get the chance to play the first when I was young). Personally I think that Heroes 3 is the best, and Then the 4th, then I will say Heroes 6. It was to me like I went back to play Heroes 3 when I tried out Heroes 6, really great games all of them!! :)

PS: As far as I remember this song is in the anime Fairy Tail too. Seems like they have taken many sngs from Heroes 4. :P Quite epic.

its for like win 2000 or xp, and you can customise your own character. You start of in a prison and have to kill humans, and there is like a house/castle inside the cave. in there was a guy trapped or something and a lot of pigs. You could kill the pigs and like move objects with your crusor. Roleplay/adventure game with magic and stuff. you encountered trolls and i remember the first weapon i got after escapeing from the prison was a bone of some kind.

For all people who wonder why Heroes IV is underrated:

It was an incomplete game, in every manner. Concepts were not fully complete, graphics too. I've seen some people complain about Preserve, that wolves and tigers are lame. Elementals look like pokemons and phoenix is a hot-chicken. I agree with all of these comments. That is the main reason why Heroes IV is not a very good game. If 3DO hasn't pushed for an early relase, it would become the best of all heroes. A legend! How tragic this ends.

@Ronin3453 Maybe it would be even better if the had more time but it's still one of the best part of the serie if you ask me.It has the best musics and the gameplay is very good as well.And the main reason why i think this is one of the best is the way how heroes fight.They are not just watching the battle and for example in the other parts of the serie if you had a lvl 40 heroe with 10 peasant a single black dragon defeated you.This game without creatures you can defeat huge armys.

Heroes IV was actually my favourite. Heroes V was crap, the dialogue was awkward and retarded, and the others, well, I started off with Heroes IV, and played it all my childhood - it brings back memories. It's brilliant, IMO, and the music was beautiful.

The game obviously has flaws, you can't change that fact. But after countless of hours playing the HoM series, with a crapload of Heroes 3, the arguably most polished of the games or Heroes 5, heck even H2 is in many ways a much more finished product than the fourth installment. I love HoM but in the end the game I enjoy the most, despite all it's flaws, is Heroes 4. It has a beautiful, unique feeling to it and the soundtrack has no comparison.

This song or motif you can also hear in Diane Arkenstone's album Aquaria.

You can also hear similar tunes of this in the beginning of the trailer for Zanzarah.

Additionally this song appears in Okami as a "Highland song" or something at some point along with Black & White 2 as "Celtic Air".

Basically, the motif is some sort of stock celtic tune that is public domain.

Good find nonetheless, you have helped me narrow my search for the one true artist.

The main thing I didnt like in IV was that the AI was damn stupid. Other than that and a few other imperfections I loved the game. The music adds a lot to the atmosphere and can be easily listened to outside the game.

@0pracyloh0 - it actually is better than 3 in many ways, such as music, art, exploration, story and the hero system is actually a positive addition that shouldn't have been criticized by the stupid fanbase. The only problem was that it was unbalanced, and with a little polish the hero system wouldve been the best evolutionary step in the franchise. But fans couldn't accept how different it was from what they were familiar with. If only this game was released as a separate franchise..

Try Dragon Age Origins, Witcher 1, even Kings bounty. there is some good art in those games.

Kings bounty is a little hard on the eyes at first, but the art style is exactly as it was intended to be there. Its portrayed as a story book and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that...

Heroes IV also expanded more adventourish part of game, We no longer had to have caster or army to move with our hero. Just like that campaign with Bard. The me Heroes IV had the most beutiful campaigns, and the hardest one- with Tavni Balfour. My favourite though was With Emilia Nightheaven, and Paledra kingdom. Shame HV didn't followed the story. It was out of blue to me.

The only thing I find really disturbing in this game. Level 30 fighter. Vs Level 90 mage with 10000 white tigers. Mage uses resurrection. Tigers move forward. Fighter fires arrow. Mage dead. Mage resurrects diseased arrow kills mage. Tigers move forward. Warrior fires arrow. 3000 tigers die. Tigers: O_o HOLY SHIT LETS GET OUTTA HERE!. Me: What just happened?!?
