Hey thanks for the kind words. Kidney donation has been the peak experience of my life so far. It was wonderful to go through and even more rewarding watching Damon get better and enjoy his life.
I am so grateful to have gone through this. I wish more people could fully understand what a special feeling you get from helping another in this way.
I donated a kidney to a stranger. And since my kidney donation I have been wanting to do more - so I now have a project to help others in need of a kidney. My brother donated a kidney as well - to someone on my list of people in need of a kidney.
If anyone wants more info on kidney donation or would like to matched up with someone in need of a kidney, please contact me. More info on one of my videos about kidney donation - click on KidneyMitzvah in blue. Thanks and G-d bless you.
What a beautiful human being, to give the gift of this magnitude while she's alive I commend her for thinking of her fellowman. Thank you again for sharing this vid~ and I wish you the best in all of your endeavors~
I am starting this process. I had already gone through it 11 years ago until someone else in the family decided to get tested and ended up being the donnor. Unfortunately we will have to go through the process again and I have decided to go through the testing. I have seen how the procedure has changed and I am still scared, but glad it is much easier than it was a decade before. I have so many questions still.
More of the "can dad handle this a second time?" kind. He has been through a lot since trans #1 & I just worry that this may be too much for him. I know the doctor will not go through with it if he deems him a bad candidate. Received my potential donor paperwork. They included a DVD to watch too. If you don't mind, I may come back with ?s if I think of any. I need to lose some weight first. I have started that process. I have a battle of my own to win first, before dad can win his. Pressure :(
Hang in there. Let me know if any questions do come up. I had the weight issue to deal with before surgery too. I was really close to the cut off but managed to lose enough during the summer to be okayed for surgery. Can I ask how old you are?
Thankyou for sharing your story with us, I found it very informative and helpful, as I too have decided to be a living kidney donor for a stranger. I'm in the early stages of the whole process and waiting for my first specialist appt to get it all underway, but I've done months of research and plenty of consideration and know that it is something I really want to do. You've helped shed some light on the whole process for me, and its encouraged me all the more, so thankyou!
I'm glad the video helped you to understand the process better. It has been just over a year now and I still feel great. I have no regrets and I know I made the right choice. If you have questions please let me know. I would love to help in anyway possible.
As I've said a bunch of times that I knew she would be my donor within the first 5 minutes of meeting her. And if we didn't work out (for a medical incompatibility, for example) then she would be the perfect donor for someone else.
It is a beautiful story all around: I feel extremely fortunate to be chosen by Sara of course, but she feels extremely fortunate to give to me as well.
Thank you for showing this. My daughter is named Sarah and she will be donating a kidney to my sister.

I am in touch with many who have donated a kidney - all of us are doing great, no one has regrets and some of us wish we can do it again!
I know of someone who donated a kidney and had no pain at all even after her kidney donation. Normal to have some pain though after kidney donation.
Sara, welcome to the kidney donors club!

Isn't that true?
