RON PAUL, WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR AN ANSWER! TELL AMERICAN PEOPLE HOW EXACTLY RU GOING TO CREATE JOBS? OK LETS SAY ALL TROOPS CAME BACK AND THEN WHAT? POPULATION OF CHINA IS 1.4 B CHINESE WORK LIKE ROBOTS, BE HONEST TELL AMERICAN PEOPLE TO BUY UR BOOK U NEED CASH , U LOVE POWER, U LOVE CASH, U WILL NEVER CREATE JOBS, U HAVE NO ANSWER!
Ron Paul is against taxation. This means, if you don't have to pay tax and you are worried about your health, you can put that money in a bank account that earns you interest and when you need health care, you can simply pay for it. This concept is very similar to insurance without the need of insurance companies making a profit. The worst solution is to trust the Government to take care of you by paying tax because all they do is spend it on wars and make the country broke.
It was a lie to say that the public option won't effect those with prior insurances. In case no one has figure it out, the indirect ripple effect of the unconstitutional public option bullshit caused an increase in the vast majority of insurance premiums
Also, the only reason why US companies even have insurance plans tied to jobs is cuz of the ridiculous incentive scheme set up during the previous new deal almost a whole century ago.
I am a Canadian, who's lived in Canada my entire life....you Americans need to LISTEN TO THIS MAN!! EVERYTHING he says about government and healthcare is TRUE!!! We here in Canada do not have to pay for medicare directly...but we pay dearly in other ways...we wait MONTHS for desperately needed operations...we waith 6+ hours to see a doctor...our taxes are over 35% for the average earner, 45+% for high earners (on top of 13% sales taxes)...let the market work, get govt out, and you will win.
@moosh27 I'm also Canadian, and although I am quite satisfied with the level of care, I look at the exponential debt growth in this country and I wonder if we're really doing the right thng for the country. I also live in Alberta, where citizens have been bright enough to vote PC for the last 30 years, and we have almost no debt and no PST.
@UponInfinity you should feel fortunate that your healthcare is provided at a satisfactory level. Keep in mind though that mine in Ontario continues to decline at an alarming rate...and with our centrally planned social programs, you folk in Alberta will see prices via inflation increase as Canada continues to perpetuate debt in order to keep universal healthcare a reality for all.
Truly insane. The American federal government could have handed every citizen in the US a sack of 1 million dollars were it not for the "war on terror"
these people dont get it! Medicare gives healthcare, DUH! The problem isn't, does it provide a service; the problem is the SYSTEM that provides service being given is BANKRUPT and unsustainable! Who's gona get service now without the money to pay for it?!
This guy keeps talking about how great Medicare is. Medicare, like SS and Medicaid and every other gov program is still running b/c the gov simply borrows more money to keep them going. That's why the gov has run up a debt on us of $14 trillion. Is that really so hard to understand?
Nothing wrong with being uneducated on a subject, but to have a loud and vociferous opinion while remaining in that state of ignorance is irresponsible: my father is a 20 year military veteran with full VA benefits. He told me the other day that he needed to go to the doctor. I asked him if he was going to the VA and he said: no, it'll take me 3 months to get an appointment. I'll go to my private doctor.
People like this are irresponsible and socially destructive.
Cosmetic surgery is relatively unregulated and, at the same time, costs continuously fall in this sector (even though demand continuously rises). Medicare, on the other hand, is something like 50 trillion dollars in the hole. So, Dr. Gupta, we can easily make a comparison between competitive care, i.e., the free market, and managed/regulated care (government). The former is outperforming the latter by wide margins.
400% profit...while the man on the street is paying through his nose......even Canadians who didn't fight for "independence" from GB have better/free medical like those in the UK today ......makes one want to force the 'profiteers' to lower there premiums/ cost to customer..........see people not able to afford medical treatment in a first world country is madness....whats happened to the States?????????????? Oh yes, maybe just Ron Paul has let the cat out of the bag........?????
@232323C Some doctors and medical companies do this on purpose. Others do not. Those that do not do this on purpose HAVE to raise prices in order to compete with the governments health care plans. The government just prints money out of its ass (Fed. Reserve/Quasi-Private Central Bank) or just taxes the shit out of everyone for its projects (Social Security, Iraq War, Healthcare, Roads, Public Television, Medicare, Museums, government scientific studies (Los Alamos, etc.) so on and so on.
Doctors in America are nothing but no good crooks. I constantly hear the same rhetoric from them as to the quality of health care going down with any legislation. A specialists in this country will charge you 200 dollars to see you 5 minutes, hand you pain killers and send you to get an MRI. After than they'll charge you another 200 dollars to read you the MRI report which was prepared for them. Ron Paul and every other doctor in America doesn't want anyone cutting into their huge profits.
America does have the best healthcare becaus eit is private, but that BEST HEALTHCARE is only affordable to billionaires. because thats how capitalism works, the best costs the most.
so all of these stupid ass hicks who think it wil get worse are stupid... flat out stupid. the quality will stay the same shitty mess its always been it just wont cost as much.
@AntiVenomFangX. Umm, the healthcare system in the Netherlands largely is privatel run. The same goes for France or Switzerland. The costs of basic coverage is controlled, nor do you have pharma companies being able to maintain their monopolies. US has the worse healthcare system on the planet, because costs won't be controlled.
largely? give me the percentage so we can find out if your definition of largely is different from a dictionary's definition. if they are privately owned then who controls the cost?
controlling costs sounds risky. what if the cost of medicines goes up a good amt. how do you cover the losses? in america we raise prices, how would we battle rising costs if the price point is fixed at one level?
@AntiVenomFangX You are probably one of the most ignorant people I've ever seen. To say that we have a capitalistic system, when it is government managed is about as stupid as it gets. First of all, what we have is FAR from capitalistic. Second of all. The cost will be more.. if Medicare has proven anything.. sure it won't cost YOU necessarily that much.. but the country will go bankrupt trying to pay for it.
ok smart guy. where did i claim the entire system is capitalistic? i claimed the private sector is capitalist. the best Hcare costs more than upper middle class people make in a year. just like the best anything. i was pointing out how stupid it is to claim we have the best healthcare when its clearly only the people who can affrod the best.
we can only go bankrupt is we take cash surpluses like the one clinton gave us, and spend it on socialism like bush did.
Socialized medicine costs 5 cents per dollar to administer whereas privatized medicine costs 30 cents per dollar. We spend more than any other of our counterparts on health care and we get less. Citizens of countries that are similarly developed to the US with socialized systems on average live longer, have more hospital beds, have more doctors and have a lower infant and maternal mortality rate. These are well-established statistics; private insurance is ineffective and damaging to the people.
@altarofmadness6 We don't have a true privatized system. We have a government managed monopoly system. Where the government and the businesses collude to assram you. At least call it what it is...
Sanjay is completely wrong at the 5:00 mark. The good Doc should read into why prices in laser eye surgery have come down year after year as opposed to rising significantly like its counterparts in health care. Eye surgery prices have come down because it is not insured or subsidized like other parts in health care. It's like a customer deciding what store he wants to go to based on price. They check around and find out how much it will cost. Eye surgery is a REAL free market at work.
actually Paul is wrong on this Issue. The VA system works better than the private system. Medicare is working great, it is going broke because of the corporate welfare in it. Like Medicare Advantage. and Medicare plan D. The rising cost of health care in the USA is almost all totally due to huge profits by Insurance Companies. HAd we gotten a single payer system in the 90's we would have health care at half the cost we pay now
The VA is not run better than private insurance. I do not know where you are getting your information. Medicare is not working great. The increases in heatlhcare come the direct spending from the government, backed and bank rolled by funny-money dollars being printed.
@lisabob22 A sole increase of the money supply, and direct investment and funding of Medicaid and Medicare from the government is a large part of the cause. Insurance company profiteering is also part of the issue, but less having to do with profits as opposed to care access and refusing to insure/honor claims. The government even sets caps for how much individuals can sue/ be fined when patients/insured are refused care illegally after paying premiums.
@lisabob22 The TRUE non-government managed private sector (cosmetics, eye surgery, etc) are the cheapest and best service we have. You can go on an expensive system like most of Europe that costs 10%.. but I'll take a system that has more free market elements where health care spending is like 3%-4% like singapore.
As long as there are lobbyists, there will be corruption. You can buy off politicians, and the sad part is it's perfectly legal. Politicians don't make the decisions in this country, CEO's do. As much as I would like to support this recent "anti-incumbency" movement, I can't, because it's just replacing one asshole with the next. Nothing is going to change. /rant
70% of all bankrupt people in America was cause by medical expenses.
Sweden 0% Germany 0% Canada 0% France 0% Switzerland 0%, Just the good ole USA lets their people get screwed. Pharmaceutical companies put 1.9 million into lobbying in Washington. Think they might lose money if we have a national healthcare?
@pchtermino1 You can barely find a fucking medical doctor here in Canada. Don't think for one second that the system works here. We all pay for other people's shit. Do you want to flip the bill for a 350lb man who has smoked 25 years and needs an operation on his lungs?? Pehaps if people took better care of themselves to stay out of hospitals....the number wouldnt be quite so high.
I have far more trust in Ron Paul than I do any of these other fools we call "politicians." This man knows what he's talking about. He has always stuck with his principles, unlike all these flip floppers in Washington. He's a strict constitutionalist and the biggest patriot I've ever seen. He's a modern day "founder" and if you have any sense at all, you'll vote for Ron Paul in 2012.
I dont always agree with Mr Paul but he can debate without calling people names. I am much more inclined to listen to his points. Also as long as health care/ ins is a per profit industry they will look to drop sick people and keep healthy ones. A lot of politicians and people on both sides who talk all this trash about fed spending are falling over each other to get some of the money
I think Paul Song proved Friedman right. I'm not sure why he even quoted him. The public option would be a continuation of the third party payment system.
im sorry but why do need insurance companies at all? they are just filling in for government to manage your money. why dont people manage their own money with regard to healthcare? isnt that real freedom.
RP always awesome, the other doctor was consistent too. Sanjay was just doing he's usual "puzzled face" and adding superfluous remarks any Joe on the street could give.
i like ron paul and would love to hear what he thinks of the texas board of education taking thomas jefferson out of the curriculum in public schools for a religious leader of the time.
@henzlerte he is wrong on this issue and his facts are wrong. His opinion is not backed up by facts only by spin. I wonder when was the last time Dr.Paul saw a patient? It looks like it might have been 1996. here is something Paul did:
Paul criticized Ronald Reagan as a failure and cited high deficits as exhibit A.
Thankfully none of this will matter for long because all of these stupid government programs will be insolvent, as will be the entire country. Maybe we'll bankrupt ourself into a smaller government, which, if that is the only way it will happen, is a good thing.
CNN covers up crap with what dr. gupta talks of,,, he rambles random buzz words...internet, worldwide... bahhh... cuts off the two people who we WANT TO SEEE TALK.
Obama comes in as if he's for the people, but he wants more of helping big Pharma, more bailouts for too big to fail, more secretive powers to the FED, more special interests, more debt and inefficient programs. Big Pharma should compete for OUR interests, not force us to be in their system then they don't have to keep prices low or quality up
The Asian guy was asking a compound question, and was saying that the current set up system is efficient and popular. Current health care is not efficient, nor popular, and has not been private in a long time. (ie there are tax credits to employees, so who would choose private, you no longer pay pre tax dollars etc. so you DONT have a choice). Ron Paul did answer, he said the system is broke, it doesn't work, and is highly inefficient
He didn't ignore the guy's rebuttal about Medicare. Also, as a VETERAN, I can agree that the VA system sucks. I have been turned away from the emergency room when I could barely walk, then had to wait a day and a half AT THE HOSPITAL just to find out I had a pinched nerve in my back.
At 3.00 the asian guy talks about studies showing medicare being popular and more efficient than the private sector. Ron Paul did not respond to the guy's points about Medicare being popular
I actually find this debate refreshing and respectful from all sides. Each had their own sources and viewpoints and stated it well.
If this was on Fox (for example), there would be more "You *&#@ pinhead!!!" from some angry white "commentator" ... so much for free speech, intellegent debate and journalistic integrity there.
Medi Care IS BANKRUPT!!!!!! The government is BANKRUPT!!!!!! How the fuck are we going to pay for this when Obama fails to cut off the two things that are continues to put us in debt. These two bull shit wars. Quit wasting money, build up the economy, and then work on this issue. First thing first
Very well said and obuma saying that by passing this HC bill means that it will not add a dollar to the deficit is a COMPLETE lie! The dems say it will only cost 800 billion which is another lie it will cost 9 times that amount!
I like how Larry King tends to attempt to cut off Ron Paul mid speech rather than the other guests. I notice this in most of Ron Paul speaking over TV.
One thing Dr. Song did not address was WHY the rates have been raised by insurance companies. I would really like to see that topic addressed properly rather than just assume it is greedy insurance companies milking people. "Profits up by 400%" ... from what? From a down period or particularly poor profit year? Without proper context that statistic is worthless.
When I worked in insurance, granted auto insurance, we were NOT allowed to TELL people where to go for anything.
If congress wants to have national health care, they should be subjected to their own legislation. They currently have better insurance than all but a few Americans, meanwhile veteran's are denied access to the medical care they need.
Medicare and social security are only broke because Clinton and Bush used the money invested in them to fund wars and other things. It was a wreckless move for short term approval.
I received care from the VA while I was in college, after I got off active duty. Out of the five different facilities I went to (many of which I had to drive several HOURS to get to) four of them were complete SHITHOLES. They were some of the most depressing places I've ever had the misfortune of visiting.
The fifth one was a brand new outpatient clinic, and it was very nice.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I agree with Dr. Song. The other two are idiot. Ron Paul has no idea what he is talking about. He got owned. I agree with Paul on his foreign policy but thats it
I'm sorry to see Dr. Ron Paul treated in this interview like such a fish in a barrel, if you understand how easy they are to shoot.
The two other pundits argue that the system doesn't work, but why can't they realize that it has been created by the government through a number of different situations.
So there answer is more government?
Universal health care seems morally right, but it ends up having the opposite effect that it tries to create. Plz research this.
Stupid young doctor's who cant read a fucking history book. Just the same way in all fields History is the most important subject in the world and we don't teach it right or at all in our schools. How else do we learn from our mistakes.
Health care costs go up so much because the tech. has advanced so fast. So the question really is, do you want half ass health care or do you want high quality health care and if you look at every thing else the government does SUCKS so why think this will be any different
thats such bullshit. technology has advanced in every other field from electronic to machinery and all you see is the price go down. i can buy a computer for 500 dollars its 10 times faster than what was available years ago. shit i remeber paying 200 dollars for 2 mb of ram today you buy a terrabyte for 50 bucks give me a freaking break dude you cant be that naive. did you go to school or just cross the border?
I wasn't aware it was a competition. I, for one, will pass on rationed care, long waiting lists, shortages of specialists, sparce innovation, and D.R. shortages. The problem with America's healthcare is that it is already half-socialized. Instead of joining you people in Canada in cliff jumping we should return to a free market. We have a free market in life, auto, and home insurance and those costs aren't out of control. Those industries are profit seeking too, but are disciplined by a market.
This type of thinking is the problem. It assumes that the state should be centrally planning any part of the economy at all. The problem with our healthcare is not quality of care(that's Canada's problem), but rather cost. This is a problem of the state's previous efforts of central planning. The healthcare costs started rising about the same time that the state became heavily involved: about 40 years ago. We need a return to a free market in healthcare
Of course, I don't think America could do things the way Canada did. See, in order to have federal budget surpluses for nearly a decade, you have to cut spending. To do it with roughly the same tax rate as the US, you have to REALLY cut spending.
For all the talk of the evils of socialism, I don't think Americans are prepared to cut government spending to Canadian pre-healthcare levels.
We all agree with you, what we need is effective government..
But here is the problem, the scope of government power is where we draw the line..
Effective government, is often the government that sits back and allows the governed to govern themselves.
Otherwise, government is ran by people, people often strive to only serve their own interests. Let the government into too many things is BEGGING for trouble..
I am not sure if it matters if roads are left to the public finance, or to private finances..
In the end, we will bear the price..
What do you think would happen if government stopped financing the roads?
CORPORATIONS will come in and fix them up (yea rich people need to drive too) However, ultimatlly we probably would see a raise in our grocery prices..
I am willing to bet a good chunk of people who are against obama, were against bush also...
The reason I voted for Obama personally, was I believe(d) he is the lesser of the two evils..
I can either be taxed in order to give it to my fellow american(I see this as bad still), and I do think democrats don't have as much respect for PROPERTY rights..
Or even worse, I can be taxed in order for us to fight wars.. and trample on individual rights (abortion, medical marijuana etc
I am not even sure I agree with some of the anti-trust laws...
Which basically makes monopolies illegal..
Listen, there are two ways a company can form a monopoly over a product. One Is if the CONSUMER decides it likes its products the best .. and why would we need competition if we decided? GOOD
Or if the GOVERNMENT makes bogus regulations. Perhaps a overdue patent, or making it so competitors have a tougher time getting into the market..BAD
In order for these non-white people to get the grant money, they cannot have x amount of money..
So give them/us (Yea.. I am 25% native) rewards for being a minority. However, don't extend those same benefits for those who wanted to safe up a nest egg ...
Today many expect to have 'prepaid services', the drugs, they want every penny taken care of, this only invites abuse. When 3rd parties pay the bills, hosp's, doctors, labs, etc always charge the most. So now we're going from corporate medicine to the proposed government medicine, this IS socialized medicine. Which has really not worked well any place else. What we should be fighting for is the fact that we have a choice, we should not be forced into any gov program
The problem with current health care is the costs are too high. But what many people fail to understand is that the high costs are a reaction to gov, our monetary policy, the inflated money supply, price inflation, etc. (The FED!) Prices go up more so in certain areas that the gov gets involved, then in others. When the gov in more involved in health care, education, etc, the result is always more inflation.
Wow, that's only the 500th time I've heard that shit from idiotic Paul supporters. Although you sheep usually accuse me of working for the government, not a PR firm.
Here's a tip, assholes---no one needs to be paid to oppose racism and intolerance. Those are fundamental American values. All men are created equal. One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Judging men not on the color of their skin, but on the content of their character. God bless America!
Naw, it couldn't be the government, because I saw you before the election as well as now. I don't have that much faith in government.
On the other hand, you've apparently been sitting here trolling Ron Paul videos for almost a year, and that's the sort of effort that takes a paycheque, not just conviction.
A "paycheque"? LOL! What's all that aboot, eh? How much do YOU get paid to troll videos for a failed racist running for office in ANOTHER COUNTRY???
There's nothing Canadians hate more than stupid Americans telling them how to live, how to run their country, and who to vote for. Yet you have zero problem with lecturing Americans about those exact same questions. How insanely arrogant is that? Why don't you tend to your own maple trees for awhile, eh? If we need a 51st state, we'll call.
See, this is how I know you're getting paid for this.
Where did I lecture? Nowhere. You just went off into your little hate spree after a bit of research.
Hey, I'm not hating. Lobbying is an honest living.
But honestly? Ron Paul's supposed racism is pretty much at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to "stuff anyone with conviction would give a shit about", and if you've really been at this for almost a year (or more), it's either delusion or a paycheque.
Yeah, yeah, lecture us some more about who Americans should vote for. Or you could start worrying about the functional illiterate you have in your Senate just because he used to coach hockey. That's some pretty great priorities, Canada. Maybe you should tend to that shit for a while, and keep your fucking nose out of our problems.
You don't even need to make sense and you pay your bills with this shit? Awesome. Obviously recession-proof too.
You get to hang out and make fun of youtube posters regarding the congress's least relevent member, and I bet you get to live in a big cushy city for it? Marketing sounds like a prettty sweet gig.
I love when you idiots assume it takes more than 2 minutes of my day to rebut the racism and intolerance spewed by Paul and his followers. That says more about you anything I ever could.
How about that Canadian senate, eh? Populated by dudes who admitted being illiterate! What's all that aboot, eh? LOL!
And good luck lecturing other countries about who to vote for, and how to run their nations, all while completely ignoring the mountains of problems that face Canada. Love that glass house arrogance!
But see, that's how I know you can't be for real. It's a real bad crack in your persona.
The moment you found out I was part of an identifyable group, you decided to attack me based on that instead of anything I'd said. Of course you think intolerance is ok. You got a big hate hard-on the moment it was convenient.
It's a good thing my name isn't Jamal, or we could get some really interesting incongruence in your argument.
So like I said, respect, man. Pulliin' a cheque with nonsense. Cool.
I don't hate anyone. I just think racism and intolerance are wrong. You disagree, and think no one would ever oppose racism without being paid to do so. That's all.
I also think foreigners rightfully get upset when America paternalistically lectures them about how to live and what candidates to vote for, yet you think it's perfectly okay in reverse. That's the height of arrogance.
Paul opposes equal treatment. He opposes every single advancement in the entire history of American civil rights, including the Emancipation Proclamation, 13th Amendment, 1964 Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights, and MLK holiday. He even voted to send our tax dollars to fund the genocide in Darfur. Luckily, that crazy notion failed 414-1. That's why Paul was endorsed by David Duke and every other major white supremacist terrorist group, accepted their money, and had KKK members working his campaign.
Not really. Paul voted against the MLK holiday, Voting Rights Act, and Rosa Parks, too. And his move to send our tax dollars to fund the genocide in Darfur failed 414-1. Every other member of Congress of every poltiical persuasion thought our tax dollars were better spent at home.
Congressional votes are a matter of public record, dipshit. Now stop spamming the board.
ok, even though he has denied he's a racist, he is a politician, and no one would admit to being one. But even if he is a racist, so what? As long as it doesn't interfere with his policies or influence his decisions, its all good. He believes in liberty for ALL, regardless of who or what they are, so even if he doesnt like blacks privately, thats his beliefs, and we shouldnt make it a big deal if it doesnt affect his policies, as his voting record shows. btw, do you think Wilson was a good prez?
"Even if he is a racist, so what?" Seriously? It doesn't matter if the President of the United States of America is a complete racist? LOL!
What if our president considered whites or arabs inferior and subhuman animals? What if he opposed civil rights for those groups? Would that be a "big deal" to you?
I said if it doesn't affect his policies, then i really don't care about his private life. If he thought them inferior and denied them civil rights, that is his beliefs INTERFERING WITH HIS POLICIES!!!
Ron Paul talks about nothing but his policies, he is for equal rights INCLUDING gay marriage, which the neo-cons(who let their religion interfere with their policies) oppose. And you didn't answer my question about Wilson.
It does affect his policies. He opposes the 1964 Civil Rights Act that ended segregation and outlaws discrimination. He voted against the Voting Rights Act and MLK holiday. He voted against Katrina relief but FOR sending our tax dollars to fund the genocide in Darfur. Luckily, that shit failed 418-1. Every other member of every persuasion understood that our taxes are better spent at home.
Paul is not for gay marriage. Are you kidding? He does not support or encourage gays getting married.
I never said he was in Congress, moron. He opposes the Civil Rights Act, wishes it had never passed, and would repeal it. He's sick.
Voting no on a constitutional amendment does not mean he supports gay marriage, or thinks gay people can or should get married. He doesn't. He voted for DOMA and even opposes gay adoption. He does not support gay people getting married.
He wants every state in the Union to ban gay marriage. He doesn't believe any gay people should ever get married, now or until the end of time. Those are the facts, asshole.
Whatever his beliefs, at least he is against the constitutional amendment, and leaves it to the states to decide. If you are for gay marriage, then obviously some states would pass it others would not! That is the best solution, both sides can be content. With Ron's loyalty to the constitution and to personal liberties, i jsut dont get why you are so against Ron Paul.
He believes every state in the Union should ban gay marriage. He does not support gay marriage. He opposes gay marriage. Those are the facts. And the denial of basic human rights will not make people "content." What a sickening suggestion!
I oppose Paul because I oppose racism and intolerance. Obviously.
well what good is social equality when our deficit is at 11 trillion????
I don't agree with Paul 100%, and I thank you for opening my eyes on some of his shadier issues. but seriously man, the big issues are what matter right now, i think equality will come, just like it did for blacks, but he is the best choice for America right now.
Holy shit, are you kidding? Are you seriously suggesting that when the deficit hits a certain number, equality should go out the window? Jesus Christ, what a horrible thought.

No, the NAACP never vouched for him. The national NAACP has never vouched for him. None of the NAACP's many local chapters has ever vouched for him. No one speaking on behalf of the NAACP has ever said a positive word about him. And why would they? He was endorsed by David Duke, Stormfront, Vanguard News Network, Don Black, Randy Gray, and Will Williams, accepted their money and flat refused to donate it, and had KKK members working his campaign.

We here in Canada do not have to pay for medicare directly...but we pay dearly in other ways...we wait MONTHS for desperately needed operations...we waith 6+ hours to see a doctor...our taxes are over 35% for the average earner, 45+% for high earners (on top of 13% sales taxes)...let the market work, get govt out, and you will win.
moosh27 11 months ago
@moosh27 I'm also Canadian, and although I am quite satisfied with the level of care, I look at the exponential debt growth in this country and I wonder if we're really doing the right thng for the country. I also live in Alberta, where citizens have been bright enough to vote PC for the last 30 years, and we have almost no debt and no PST.
UponInfinity 8 months ago
@UponInfinity you should feel fortunate that your healthcare is provided at a satisfactory level. Keep in mind though that mine in Ontario continues to decline at an alarming rate...and with our centrally planned social programs, you folk in Alberta will see prices via inflation increase as Canada continues to perpetuate debt in order to keep universal healthcare a reality for all.

People like this are irresponsible and socially destructive.
coolerdoncooper 1 year ago
Cosmetic surgery is relatively unregulated and, at the same time, costs continuously fall in this sector (even though demand continuously rises). Medicare, on the other hand, is something like 50 trillion dollars in the hole. So, Dr. Gupta, we can easily make a comparison between competitive care, i.e., the free market, and managed/regulated care (government). The former is outperforming the latter by wide margins.

@232323C Some doctors and medical companies do this on purpose. Others do not. Those that do not do this on purpose HAVE to raise prices in order to compete with the governments health care plans. The government just prints money out of its ass (Fed. Ron Paul and every other doctor in America doesn't want anyone cutting into their huge profits.

so all of these stupid ass hicks who think it wil get worse are stupid... flat out stupid. the quality will stay the same shitty mess its always been it just wont cost as much.
AntiVenomFangX 1 year ago
@AntiVenomFangX. Umm, the healthcare system in the Netherlands largely is privatel run. The same goes for France or Switzerland. The costs of basic coverage is controlled, nor do you have pharma companies being able to maintain their monopolies. US has the worse healthcare system on the planet, because costs won't be controlled.
raptorkiller2k5 1 year ago
@raptorkiller2k5
largely? give me the percentage so we can find out if your definition of largely is different from a dictionary's definition. if they are privately owned then who controls the cost?
controlling costs sounds risky. what if the cost of medicines goes up a good amt. how do you cover the losses? in america we raise prices, how would we battle rising costs if the price point is fixed at one level?
AntiVenomFangX 1 year ago
@AntiVenomFangX You are probably one of the most ignorant people I've ever seen. To say that we have a capitalistic system, when it is government managed is about as stupid as it gets. First of all, what we have is FAR from capitalistic. Second of all. The cost will be more.. if Medicare has proven anything.. sure it won't cost YOU necessarily that much.. but the country will go bankrupt trying to pay for it.
macktasticjoshflava 10 months ago
@macktasticjoshflava
ok smart guy. where did i claim the entire system is capitalistic? i claimed the private sector is capitalist. the best Hcare costs more than upper middle class people make in a year. just like the best anything. i was pointing out how stupid it is to claim we have the best healthcare when its clearly only the people who can affrod the best.
we can only go bankrupt is we take cash surpluses like the one clinton gave us, and spend it on socialism like bush did.

These are well-established statistics; private insurance is ineffective and damaging to the people.
altarofmadness6 1 year ago
@altarofmadness6 We don't have a true privatized system. We have a government managed monopoly system. Where the government and the businesses collude to assram you. At least call it what it is...
macktasticjoshflava 10 months ago
Sanjay is completely wrong at the 5:00 mark. The good Doc should read into why prices in laser eye surgery have come down year after year as opposed to rising significantly like its counterparts in health care. Eye surgery prices have come down because it is not insured or subsidized like other parts in health care. It's like a customer deciding what store he wants to go to based on price. They check around and find out how much it will cost. Eye surgery is a REAL free market at work.
rmccay88 1 year ago
actually Paul is wrong on this Issue. The VA system works better than the private system. Medicare is working great, it is going broke because of the corporate welfare in it. Like Medicare Advantage. and Medicare plan D. The rising cost of health care in the USA is almost all totally due to huge profits by Insurance Companies. HAd we gotten a single payer system in the 90's we would have health care at half the cost we pay now
lisabob22 1 year ago
@lisabob22:
The VA is not run better than private insurance. I do not know where you are getting your information. Medicare is not working great. The increases in heatlhcare come the direct spending from the government, backed and bank rolled by funny-money dollars being printed.
tpwatson 1 year ago
@lisabob22 A sole increase of the money supply, and direct investment and funding of Medicaid and Medicare from the government is a large part of the cause. Insurance company profiteering is also part of the issue, but less having to do with profits as opposed to care access and refusing to insure/honor claims. The government even sets caps for how much individuals can sue/ be fined when patients/insured are refused care illegally after paying premiums.
tpwatson 1 year ago
@lisabob22 The TRUE non-government managed private sector (cosmetics, eye surgery, etc) are the cheapest and best service we have. You can go on an expensive system like most of Europe that costs 10%.. but I'll take a system that has more free market elements where health care spending is like 3%-4% like singapore.

Those industries are profit seeking too, but are disciplined by a market.
joepeeler34 2 years ago
America should, "put together a system."

I love the healthcare system here. It's awesome.

It is possible that eventually resources will be abundant to the point that it is given away freely to everyone..
But how do you suppouse technology advances?
Is it by, taxing the people and have government ran industries trying to figure out ways to make life easier for us?
or is it by letting the private industry compete against each other for the consumers business?
I believe the latter..
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
I would say that often the %5 percent that hoard the wealth are only wealthy due to government regulations..
Example, how much money did we give to corn lobbyists?
And often the government (through legislation) makes it harder for competitors to put their foot into the door..
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
Kyle..

Concerning regulations..
Perhaps a overdue patent, or making it so competitors have a tougher time getting into the market..BAD
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
Here is one case where I think a government anti-trust law is totally bogus..
Serius and xm radio..
They wan't to merge, however if they did, there won't be a competitor in the satellite entertainment industry..
Here is what I find bogus about it..
We dont NEED satellite radio! If they jacked the prices up, simply stop buying the product and they will notice a sharp decline in profits..
But no americans believe they are ENTITLED to fair prices, even when it comes to non essentials

SilverWealth23 2 years ago
The problem with current health care is the costs are too high. But what many people fail to understand is that the high costs are a reaction to gov, our monetary policy, the inflated money supply, price inflation, etc. (The FED!) Prices go up more so in certain areas that the gov gets involved, then in others. When the gov in more involved in health care, education, etc, the result is always more inflation.

Naw, it couldn't be the government, because I saw you before the election as well as now. I don't have that much faith in government.
On the other hand, you've apparently been sitting here trolling Ron Paul videos for almost a year, and that's the sort of effort that takes a paycheque, not just conviction.
SJZero 2 years ago
A "paycheque"? LOL! What's all that aboot, eh? How much do YOU get paid to troll videos for a failed racist running for office in ANOTHER COUNTRY???
There's nothing Canadians hate more than stupid Americans telling them how to live, how to run their country, and who to vote for. Yet you have zero problem with lecturing Americans about those exact same questions. How insanely arrogant is that? Why don't you tend to your own maple trees for awhile, eh? If we need a 51st state, we'll call.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
See, this is how I know you're getting paid for this.
Where did I lecture? Nowhere. You just went off into your little hate spree after a bit of research.
Hey, I'm not hating. Lobbying is an honest living.
But honestly? Ron Paul's supposed racism is pretty much at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to "stuff anyone with conviction would give a shit about", and if you've really been at this for almost a year (or more), it's either delusion or a paycheque.
SJZero 2 years ago
Yeah, yeah, lecture us some more about who Americans should vote for. Or you could start worrying about the functional illiterate you have in your Senate just because he used to coach hockey. That's some pretty great priorities, Canada. Maybe you should tend to that shit for a while, and keep your fucking nose out of our problems.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
See? That's why I'm so curious.
Hook me up, man.
SJZero 2 years ago
I love when you idiots assume it takes more than 2 minutes of my day to rebut the racism and intolerance spewed by Paul and his followers. That says more about you anything I ever could.
How about that Canadian senate, eh? Populated by dudes who admitted being illiterate! What's all that aboot, eh? LOL!
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
Oh, so it's not full-time? That's a shame. I guess it's a bit of play money on the side, but guess I'll have to stay with my real job.
Still, totally impressive gig. Respect, man.
SJZero 2 years ago
And good luck lecturing other countries about who to vote for, and how to run their nations, all while completely ignoring the mountains of problems that face Canada. Love that glass house arrogance!
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
Where did I lecture? I just want to find out how to get on the gravy train. Hell, I'll shit on some senator if I'm getting paid well for it.
SJZero 2 years ago
Don't have to be paid to oppose racism, intolerance, and unwarranted Canadian arrogance. Come on back if you get a new schtick.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
Well, it does seem pretty ironic that you're blasting me with nationalistic hatred while pretending to be all against racist hatred.
I mean, I haven't really said anything to prompt your angry hateful comments, but you're slamming the hell out of me.
If you're not getting paid, how can you resolve being against blind racist hatred while being totally for blind nationalist hatred?
SJZero 2 years ago
I don't hate anyone. I just think racism and intolerance are wrong. You disagree. That's all.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
But see, that's how I know you can't be for real. It's a real bad crack in your persona.
The moment you found out I was part of an identifyable group, you decided to attack me based on that instead of anything I'd said. Of course you think intolerance is ok. You got a big hate hard-on the moment it was convenient.
It's a good thing my name isn't Jamal, or we could get some really interesting incongruence in your argument.
So like I said, respect, man. Pulliin' a cheque with nonsense. Cool.
SJZero 2 years ago
I don't hate anyone. I just think racism and intolerance are wrong. You disagree, and think no one would ever oppose racism without being paid to do so. That's all.
I also think foreigners rightfully get upset when America paternalistically lectures them about how to live and what candidates to vote for, yet you think it's perfectly okay in reverse. That's the height of arrogance.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
It's racism to believe that someone doesn't deserve government favortism because of their race?
That is the impression I get when people call me and ron paul racist..
ron would say that blacks don't deserve special treatment, and all of a sudden he is a racist..
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
Paul opposes equal treatment. He opposes every single advancement in the entire history of American civil rights, including the Emancipation Proclamation, 13th Amendment, 1964 Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights, and MLK holiday. He even voted to send our tax dollars to fund the genocide in Darfur. Luckily, that crazy notion failed 414-1. That's why Paul was endorsed by David Duke and every other major white supremacist terrorist group, accepted their money, and had KKK members working his campaign.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
I highly HIGHLY doubt ron paul voted to "send our tax dollars to fund the genocide in Darfur"
However, I WOULDN'T doubt it if he voted NOT to send our tax money over there for relief..
Which got twisted around. Even I would be against sending aid over to a struggling county, often the rich and powerful is who benefits from the aid...
Some RICH dictators WANT their countries to be poor, in order to recieve foreign aid, and put it in their own pockets..
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
You "doubt" it? LOL! Why not do the actual research before you run your mouth?
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
It seems like if that was the case there would've been a big outrage out of it..
Instead it sounds like a fringe group making ridiculous allegations about it..
"actual research" What, some schizos blog?
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
"Congressional votes are a matter of public record, dipshit."
So tell me what bill you are referring to? If it was really THAT big of a deal, you would at least be able to tell me the name of the bill?
"Now stop spamming the board."
Is your name MoxNewsDotCom? oh wait, it's not.
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
Look it up, slappy. Or are you too stupid and too big a spammer for that?
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
if you feel so strongly against Ron Paul, to the point to make a youtube account called "RonPaulHatesBlacks"..
I figured you would be knowledable enough to at least be abel to provide the bill number, SOMETHING..
I am going to assume you are a troll now, (simply looking for a reaction) since you can't even provide that much.
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
I feel strongly that racism and intolerance are wrong.
The vote was 418-1. I'll bet you're smart enough to find a Darfur bill with a 418-1 vote in the House! Aren't ya?
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
ok, even though he has denied he's a racist, he is a politician, and no one would admit to being one. But even if he is a racist, so what? As long as it doesn't interfere with his policies or influence his decisions, its all good. He believes in liberty for ALL, regardless of who or what they are, so even if he doesnt like blacks privately, thats his beliefs, and we shouldnt make it a big deal if it doesnt affect his policies, as his voting record shows. btw, do you think Wilson was a good prez?
farizzal 2 years ago
"Even if he is a racist, so what?" Seriously? It doesn't matter if the President of the United States of America is a complete racist? LOL!
What if our president considered whites or arabs inferior and subhuman animals? What if he opposed civil rights for those groups? Would that be a "big deal" to you?
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
Did you even read what i wrote?
I said if it doesn't affect his policies, then i really don't care about his private life. If he thought them inferior and denied them civil rights, that is his beliefs INTERFERING WITH HIS POLICIES!!!
Ron Paul talks about nothing but his policies, he is for equal rights INCLUDING gay marriage, which the neo-cons(who let their religion interfere with their policies) oppose. And you didn't answer my question about Wilson.
farizzal 2 years ago
It does affect his policies. He opposes the 1964 Civil Rights Act that ended segregation and outlaws discrimination. He voted against the Voting Rights Act and MLK holiday. He voted against Katrina relief but FOR sending our tax dollars to fund the genocide in Darfur. Luckily, that shit failed 418-1. Every other member of every persuasion understood that our taxes are better spent at home.
Paul is not for gay marriage. Are you kidding? He does not support or encourage gays getting married.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
First of all, he became congressman in 1974, so he wasn't even in Congress during the passing of the Civil Rights Act.
Here is the Bill for Gay Marriage-
H J Res 88
It states that a Constitutional amendment should be passed restricting marriage between a man and a woman.
look it up, and if you actually look at Ron Paul's official voting record, he voted NO on that bill.
As for your other insinuations, idk where you are getting these results. look at my other comment for more..
farizzal 2 years ago
I never said he was in Congress, moron. He opposes the Civil Rights Act, wishes it had never passed, and would repeal it. He's sick.
Voting no on a constitutional amendment does not mean he supports gay marriage, or thinks gay people can or should get married. He doesn't. He voted for DOMA and even opposes gay adoption. He does not support gay people getting married.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
You know, for all your smart talk you havent even cited any sources!
And that bill didnt say gay adoption it said adoption by unmarried couples. and wtf? if you support gay marriage you oppose the amendment banning it!
how can you not grasp that?
farizzal 2 years ago
He wants every state in the Union to ban gay marriage. He doesn't believe any gay people should ever get married, now or until the end of time. Those are the facts, asshole.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
Whatever his beliefs, at least he is against the constitutional amendment, and leaves it to the states to decide. If you are for gay marriage, then obviously some states would pass it others would not! That is the best solution, both sides can be content. With Ron's loyalty to the constitution and to personal liberties, i jsut dont get why you are so against Ron Paul.
farizzal 2 years ago
He believes every state in the Union should ban gay marriage. He does not support gay marriage. He opposes gay marriage. Those are the facts. And the denial of basic human rights will not make people "content." What a sickening suggestion!
I oppose Paul because I oppose racism and intolerance. Obviously.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
well what good is social equality when our deficit is at 11 trillion????
I don't agree with Paul 100%, and I thank you for opening my eyes on some of his shadier issues. but seriously man, the big issues are what matter right now, i think equality will come, just like it did for blacks, but he is the best choice for America right now.
farizzal 2 years ago
Holy shit, are you kidding? Are you seriously suggesting that when the deficit hits a certain number, equality should go out the window? Jesus Christ, what a horrible thought.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
omg im not saying that
im saying what use are civil liberties if there is no country???
do you even look at anything besides their social views?
farizzal 2 years ago
Of course I do. I just think racism and intolerance are wrong. You obviously disagree.
RonPaulHatesBlacks 2 years ago
no, i dont disagree, but Ron Paul is not the white supremacist you make him out to be. Even the NAACP has vouched for him.
farizzal 2 years ago 2
This comment has received too many negative votes show
No, the NAACP never vouched for him.
